  3. I do. However, I work for a hospital so we have out own brand of Humana insurance( huge hospital actually we own 8 total). I had to have my surgery done through the hospital I work for in order to have it done. They were pretty easy to work with, I didn't have a waiting period etc...it was just having a specific BMI and having comorbidities. The testing was at my surgeon's request. They actually have a bariatrics program through Humana. I contacted them and they sent me info.

    Im hungry :( :( :(

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and about day 4 or 5 it was like a light switch went off!!! i was hungry all the time. My dr prescribed a PPI (antacid like nexium) but my ins wouldn't pay b/c it was a solutab. So I went a good week or two with out the PPI. I called and told my dr the pharmacy never filled my rx so they called in normal doses. I just have to open the capsel and sprinkle it on sf pudding or yogurt. It has helped a lot. I took a few days for me to notice anything but i see a big difference in my hunger levels. Now I get hungry only around meal times. Also too, I read on here that it may take a few months for the hormone that creates hunger to diminish in your system. Don't worry, it should pass once you take nexium or something like it. the first week is the hardest. hang in there, it gets better i promise. I agree on the juice too...watch out for sugars.
  6. I'm scheduled for Monday the 9th and I have had a rollercoaster of emotions with more downs then ups. I feel you on this one. I have just chalked it up to my 2 week pre-op diet which is not fun in itself and the whole idea of change. Lets face it I'm horrible at change, hence one factor to my weight problem. But I just keep saying to myself that a few months ago I wanted this so badly. It was not something i jumped into, I've been on this journey since June. I've done my research and this is the right thing for me. I think that now I'm faced with this life change I'm allowing doubt to creep in. It's spilling into other areas of my life, the doubt is. I have to just remind myself, almost hourly as it draws closer, this is the right thing and I can do this. I refuse to backout and let myself down.

    Thanksgiving Blues

I started my 2 week liquid pre-op on Monday the 25th... so I sat out on the porch while everyone ate...needless to say I felt very depressed. Yes i had the option to be a no show. However, I thought to myself I need to confront these real world situations now. So, I understand the feeling like an outsider. My husband did the right thing and told me that everything was not that great and too greasy and I would have hated it anyway lol. My family felt guilty but I had to reassure them all that they shouldn't apologize for my decision to make this life change. I assured them that doing this and sacraficing a gut busting meal meant that I'd have that many more holidays with them as a happier healthier me. I think since I am the only one in my family who is overweight it's very hard for them to understand but none the less they all support me. Also, it was just nice to be with my whole family under one roof and have the day off of work lol.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Day one of my two week Pre-Op Liquid diet and I'm not doing so well. I feel depressed and weepy. I know it'll pass. I think I'm having emotional fall out knowing my life is going to change. I tried to explain to my hubby, who isn't overweight, that food is my friend, my commfort, my drug. It's hard to say goodbye to the me that i've been for 30 plus years and to the one thing that made everything better. I was prepared for the hungriness but not the emotions,

    Is Aetna the only one?

Not all insurances are like that. I have Humana and I just had to have a specific BMI. I had some testing but it was things my dr ordered not required by my ins.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I work for a hospital so it was mandatory. I already had mine last month. It wouldn't hurt to have one but I would ask your doc first just to make sure.
  13. Any of you guys getting sleeved in December? I was offered October 16th but due to my upcoming wedding and school and work and blah-blah-blah I had to wait till December. Any one else out there ready to role in December??? My preop diet ( 2 weeks liquid) starts Nov.25th so no turkey for me. I've already informed family I will be a no show this Thanksgiving, so worth it though. I decided to have a pre-Thanksgiving the Saturday before.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I started doing a protein shake here and there as breakfast or lunch just to try different brands. I wnated to find out what i liked and didn't before I start. So far not too bad. I've tried a few pre-made ones and bought a jug of powder mix I like. I just didn't want to start it without knowing what i could stomach and couldn't.
  15. Is yoga pants! I mean yes technically I can wear them and I actually do but not in public!!! But to wear them with out feeling like a spandex/cotton blend sack of jelly is what I want!!! What about you.....what do you want to wear once you've hit goal???

    telling people?

I work at the hospital I am having my surgery at. Since one of my coworkers work in the wls dept she knew. Although due to HIPPA she couldn't say anything to others, I figured everyone would figure it out, so I told most of my coworkers. They have been super supportive. In fact I told my coworkers before I told most of my friends. I waited till the surgery was scheduled to tell everyone. I've heard some people say they were out for gallbladder surgery. It's a fib but it prevents from you having to tell your business if you're not wanting to.

My surg is Dec.9th and I'm going next week to obgyn to get on the pill and dicuss my fertility post op. I would make an appt with your ob/gyn

  21. Yes, I am required to be on a liquid 2 weeks before, mine starts on Nov 25th. Luckily I wasn't asked to lose weight prior to surgery. Although I think it's because I had lost a few lbs between my consult and my NUT visit.
