    Meltdown

I am so sorry you are feeling so bad Things will get better with each day and your little one will have you back home before you know it. She may not be able to understand now but she will appreciate her healthier mom in the years to come. Sending a big (gentle) hug from Texas your way <3

    6 weeks post op

I love your positivity! I am sure you will be at goal ahead of schedule with your athletically inclined plans to surprise your husband You are doing GREAT!!!

    Just annoyed

Explain to him that it will be much better once you have had time to heal and build up your strength and stamina. This is a serious surgery and while it didn't cause him any pain, you are the one who went through it in order to get healthier and more active. The baby steps are at your pace and you will certainly let him know when you are ready. My husband was the opposite. He was so scared of hurting me and we waited five or six weeks. But, boy was it worth it for both of us! I, like you, did not have much of a libido for quite some time before the surgery. Just having that initial 25 lbs off made such a diffence in how I felt about myself, I can't begin to tell you. Your husband should be patient a little longer and it will be worth the wait. I wish you both well

    Complications

I hope you feel better soon. Sounds quite scary to pass out like that. I always drink skim milk if I feel thirsty and hungry at the same time. That way I know I'm getting some calories to keep the blood sugar up a bit. What did the ER doctor suggest?

Why did I do this again?

Same for me but on day 3 when being discharged. After week one it was slowly uphill all the way! I have not felt so good in twenty years at this point (sleeved May 6). The energy level isn't always there but as previously mentioned, that is likely the lower calorie intake. Still, it wasn't like I had an abundance of energy before having the sleeve (that was a big motivator to having it!) and I know I will work my way up to it one day soon. Hang in there, Jessica :-)

    I wish I hadn't seen this forum....

I was scared of having a stroke or heart attack since both run in my family. Plus I have high BP, high triglycerides, insulin resistance, hypothyroid, PCOS and had tried everything for so many years and could not get the weight off. I was not living life and the thought of rolling on toward increasing health problems was what motivated me to attend a WLS seminar. The risk of continuing down the path of certain early death outweighed the risks that VSG had compared with the possibility of a longer life with immensely improved health and quality. I sincerely hope that those who experienced complications will recover and enjoy the fruits of their labor in the end. Everyone deserves the healthier outcome that this surgery can provide. I am looking forward to my next visit with my surgeon (3 month post surgical) as he will check my labs at that time. I am so hoping to have normal cholesterol levels and be able to discontinue my BP meds (already cut in half!). Just look inside your heart and ask yourself if you can live with any comorbidities or possible side effects of your current weight or medications or if you are willing to take the plunge- risks and all - to give yourself a healthier future with this tool. You have to be willing to follow through by committing to a new lifestyle that does not involve food as a stress-reliever or reward system. And you have to make exercise an important part of your new lifestyle. Otherwise, this surgery (and it is not easy) could be all for nothing. I really loved food before and don't hate it now. I just look at the quality and type of food I put into my body as I love my life even more. Good luck with your decision and know that you will have support here whatever it may be.
  14. This is the kind of post that I joined this forum to read. Thanks for bringing such a helpful topic to the current posts! I needed this this ~

    Am i doing something wrong?

Amazing! We can all be inspired by skane10. What a transformation
  16. Wow. Sounds like someone skipped a lot of class the semester he enrolled in the ethics course. He can't be that good a doctor if he can't stick to the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm." OP is obviously traumatized. I get that she takes responsibility for consenting and understand her feeling fooled in the end. But I really can't get my mind around what could have been said to her to make her back off so fast from her original intent to protect future vulnerable patients from falling for this unethical behavior that no one should expect from a doctor. I'm sorry, but flirting has no place in the doctor-patient relationship, never mind a full on sexual relationship. He should know better. Good luck to you in the future, OP.
  17. Same here.I saw my surgeon yesterday for my second post op visit and told him. He said everyone is different and just do my best. As long as I am drinking fluids to the point of not being thirsty, then I am doing fine. The protein is a challenge for me as I only have a maybe 2 oz tummy capacity right now and get so full on very little. Plus, the protein shakes are not my favorite (feels like taking medicine!). I eat mostly protein but just not great quantities and low fat low carb. I had a bit of a stall but don't mind because I figure my skin will have a chance to tighten up between every few lbs. I am happy with losing almost 40 lbs so far and feel pretty great in spite of the fact I don' t get in the recommended protein and fluid amounts just yet. I will not force anything on my new tummy because I want to treat it more kindly this time around. I wish you the best in your journey :-)

    Surgery tomorrow....

:-) Wow, really brings back the way I started out on May 6 this year! You will feel all kinds of ways through the next weeks if you are like me, but all of a sudden I just felt good. Better than I had felt in I can't remember how long. You have such a lot of positive changes to look forward to, so just remember that any struggles you may go through are all going to lead to a great place and a new, healthier you!

    Major rash

I had the same thing. Nurse coordinator said it was probably an allergic reaction to an ingredient ( dye?) In the chewable multivitamin I had started 48 hrs before. Took liquid children's benadryl every 3 hrs, a 10mg zyrtec once a day and calamine lotion topically for four days. Cleared right up, but thinking about it makes me itch a little again lol!

    Success With PCOS

I have PCOS but no hirsutism. Low thyroid can thin out my hair, so not looking forward to the hair loss stage of post vsg! My cholesterol and triglycerides were high before surgery and tomorrow I will have blood work for the first time since May 6 2013 sleeve date. Nervous yet exited to know the results... highest weight pre-surgery was 242 and now 204 :-) Can't wait to reach goal! Good luck to everyone~
  21. A lot of women on this forum talk about wishing they had done vsg sooner as their only regret. I wholeheartedly agree. I have suffered with PCOS for 9 years that I know of and only found out about the endometriosis after going to a fertility clinic when I was 40. I only agreed to take the metformin because someone told me she had no luck with clomid but had conceived triplets while on metformin for a short time. Ugh! I suffered from chronic tummy issues for four years just praying to conceive (not exactly conducive to romance). Now that I am 47, I have resigned myself to the high probability I will remain a favorite aunt (sigh). But I admit if out of the wild blue yonder I ended up pregnant in the next year, I wouldn't complain :-) At least vsg has given me some energy and libido back, so we will have fun either way! Good luck and baby dust to you spring chickens :-)

    Frustrated with leak

You guys are so strong in the face of these complications. I take my hat off to you for your forward-thinking positivity! I truly wish you both speedy recoveries and a return to the new normal that those of us who have had minimal discomfort are fortunate to be experiencing. I feel more grateful for my blessings after reading your stories. Thank you and keep the faith <3

    It's A Beautiful Day!

I am just feeling so darn good today, I had to get back on here to share I had the day off work yesterday and did a big spring cleaning, including packing up two large bags of clothes that are now too big and will take them too Goodwill today. Then I had half a lean cuisine meatloaf slice (10 G protein) and headed to the gym in my apartment building for some treadmill action. I know some on here are doing way more challenging work outs, but don't worry, I will get there! For me, ratcheting up the incinerator and upping the speed really gave me a needed boost and I am finally feeling strong. I used to just drag myself to the gym and it felt forced, not fun. I guess this is what being motivated feels like! Then, for the past three days in a row I have had normal, regular bowel movements not at all like the puny, rabbit-like results that had been the norm since being sleeved lol! AND... Wait for it- I broke through my stall this morning! I weighed every time I had a BM with the scale never moving, but when I weighed myself this morning, I was 2 lbs down, yay! My husband has been so supportive of my struggles to lose weight since we met and has encouraged me every step of this journey. He has always made me feel sexy and loved (I'm gonna cry now) and lifted me up whenever I've gotten down. We were married June 22, 2004 after dating only a short while and there has never been a moment of regret. I was 38 and hopeful of having at least one child (never married before and no children), but was diagnosed with infertility (PCOS, endometriosis plus "advanced age") and it broke my heart. We went through unsuccessful fertility treatments in the first few years and then decided to just enjoy life together with our furry cat-child, Sashi. So, today is our 9-year anniversary, I haven't felt so good physically in a long time, I am losing weight (and it shows!) and I am going to test the theory on sex being better after VSG tonight! Wishing everyone a great weekend ~
