  4. Surgery approved and schedule for August 21st! Yay! We have a date!!!!

  5. And now we wait for insurance approval. If I get anymore anxious, I may litterally jump out of my skin.

  6. Yes, I have an appt with my surgeon on Monday. Finished all my consults, now I go see him on Monday and then have to wait the insurance. I'm scared to death they won't cover it. I think they are the most nerve wracking. Good Luck with your date!!!

    Face looks bad!

Someone sounds jealous. I say not to let it get to you. I got all kinds of comments when I lost weight and most of the bad ones came from people that didn't agree with WLS, or from the ones that had their own weight issues. If you like the way you look that's all that matters.
  8. Woohoo! Cleared by nutritionist and psych, now on to the surgeon and insurance approval! Fingers crossed....

Trying to talk husband out of the band

I have not had the sleeve yet but had my Lap Band removed. I had my lap band for 9 years. The first 50lbs came off okay, then the next 20 I had to work even harder for, and the last 25 came off due to lack of eating and forced bulimia. I went back and forth getting adjustments started gaining weight again, and then got pregnant and gained 80lbs. I lost 50 after my pregnancy bc I was having the same issues with throwing up and force bulimia, reflux started up. It was a constant battle. I could not eat what I was supposed to be eating. Vegetables got stuck, meat got stuck, carbs were the only thing that went down. I was throwing up more times in a day than I could count. My breaking point was my 7 year old son walking in on me during one of these episodes, and me having to lie to him and tell him I wasn't feeling well. I thought to myself, what if one day he finds me passed out on the bathroom floor bc of all the damage from my band? My vanity could have killed me. So they removed my band and here I sit back up to over 200lbs finishing up my consults, hopefully tomorrow, so they can schedule my sleeve. I don't recommend it to anyone anymore. I know people that have lost no weight on it at all. It's extremely easy to eat around the lap band too. I was constantly hungry with it. My surgeon rarely does them now except on RNY patients that have gained weight back. That being said after reading some of the complications from others with band, mine are small and I'm very lucky that after all that time I didn't have more serious problems. Hope that helps some. -Kelly

    Family Concerns

I had a lap band done back in 2004 and I can tell you after having it for 9 years I never once had any "uncontrolled pooping" episodes. Honestly I've never heard of that complication. I'm in the process of trying to get sleeved. My lap band was removed in may due to forced bulimia, reflux and they just could not adjust it to work for me anymore. I lost most of my weight with the band from throwing up and just not being able to eat, at least not what I was supposed to be eating. I also no others who have been band, friends of mine and co workers and they have stalled with weight loss or have gained it back. Sorry I can't give you a revision story yet. That being said I do no someone that had her stomach removed decades ago due to ulcers and she is doing fine. Not saying there are not complications with this surgery but I know of many more with the band. My surgeon informed me most band patients are either having revision to sleeve or are patients that regained weight after bypass and are having band over bypass performed. Anything has risk, but I can tell you one thing, I'd never ask for my lap band back, ever. Good luck on your journey. Do what you think is right for you and not what someone else thinks. :-)
  14. Well nutritionist is fully covered but the psych consult is not. it's $250 upfront. Health insurance companies should be required to cover mental health!!

How Long R U On Liquids After Band Removal?

When I had my band removed I wasn't required to be on liquids. My surgeon just told me to take it easy with eating and go slow.

    Explanation of benefits

Most likely that's why your provider is out of network, the get paid more by the insurance as an out of network provider than if they were to accept the insurance. Sad but true. Hope it all works out! Good Luck! The should have been honest with you from the beginning.

    Explanation of benefits

No problem. I knew going in the Dr. didn't take my insurance, but at the time lap band was very new so I wasn't gonna go to just anyone. They should have notified you from the very first call you made to them. I worked in a surgeons office and that was one of our first questions, was what insurance the patient had and if we participated. Do you have out of network benefits with your health insurance???

    Explanation of benefits

I went out of network with my lap band surgery. Most likely what you surgeon is doing is appealing to get the out of network fee that your insurance company pays and then they will write off what the insurance doesn't pay aside from your deductible. I would ask how they work it. I only had to pay my surgeon $330 which was my deductible and then they accepted the payment the insurance paid, which was not anywhere near what the cost of the surgery was.

    Welbutrion/buprion and buspiron

My dose is a lot higher than yours, I'm on 200mg twice a day, I usually take one around 11 in the morning and then one right when I go to bed at 12. I've been on that dose since I was diagnosed with post partum depression 2 years ago. Before that the dose was always lower, but I had similar effects. Oh and another thing I noticed was increased sex drive. Maybe not such a bad thing, LOL

    Welbutrion/buprion and buspiron

I take the twice a day wellbutrin, it's the only anti depressant that has worked for me and also not increased my appetite. Only side effects I have are sweating, dry mouth and if I take the second one too early insomnia, otherwise it's fine. I cannot take the once a day wellbutrin because then I can't sleep at all. I've been taking it on and off for 10 years or more. Hope this helps.

    Natural Peanut Butter

I'm still preop but a good amount of people I've spoke to use PB2. It's powdered and a lot less fat.
