  1. My Dr. has me on the following: weeks 1-2 clear liquids, Isopure clear protein is good, protein shakes ( not in the blender, adds air ). sugar free jello, popsicles and pudding. Cream soups strained of solids .Drink up to 4 oz of liquid every hour, tiny sips, do NOT gulp. Keep pushing fluids to stay hydrated. Weeks 3,4,5 are pureed foods. Yogurt ( no fruit pieces ) tuna in light mayo. Key is 2-6 TBS TOTAL per meal and chew chew, chew. You want to work up tp 60 grams of protein or more to heal and 64 oz of fluid to stay hydrated. Week 6 adds well cooked veggies, melon, bananas baked fish, Again CHEW. continue 5 small meals per day. 2-6 TBS per meal. this is just 1 of many suggestions you will get.

    Vitamins

Chewable vitamins?? I take the Bariatric advantage chewable but they taste awful.
  3. Runny nose???? Too funny. I get pressure on the left shoulder as well. Little burps and yes now that I think of it a little baby hiccup.
  4. I'm on pureed foods and know when I am topped off. I get a feeling of pressure at the top of my breastbone. Also depends on the consistency of the food. Pureed chicken with low fat mayo was a real no but tuna with mayo chewed well is ok. The secret is to chew, chew and chew and eat S L O W. Scrambled eggs are good if I mix in a little milk and don't overcook them. It's trial and error but if you start to feel uncomfortable get up and walk around a bit. My Dr. said to eat until I am satisfied not full and I would know the difference. We shall see.

    Hello, I'm new here.

Keep looking at the goal. You will come out the other side feeling so proud of yourself like we all have. My biggest problem is remembering to eat!! I am 16 days post op and feeling terrific.

    Hello, I'm new here.

Also check out the hospital where the surgery is going to be done and where you will stay. Make sure they are rated for Bariatric surgery. Since you are an R.N. you can probably get the inside view and talk to the floor nurses. The where is almost as important as the who. If the staff is not prepared to take care of sleeve patients it's not good. I know you are on the other side of the country but check out Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs Ca. as an idea of what to look for. they have a whole team dedicated to just this specialty.
  7. Back in the pool just treading water!!

    Hello, I'm new here.

Welcome! I had a sleeve done on June 19th. All is going very well. I would suggest talking to people, reading, doing all the research you can do. go on amazon and get books. I was 100% prepared I thought. The surgery itself was not a walk in the park. the incision where the excess tummy was removed is still a bit sore due to having to go thru the muscle. I was lucky because my pain was not bad. the Dr. had me on a morphine bolas along with the IV and I didn't use much. I had the surgery on a Wednesday and came home Saturday. 1 day addl. when I had my knee replaced in 2011 I ended up with an infection from the catheter. I felt kind of funky like it was starting this time again so I was kept an extra day and put on cipro iv. the hard part was getting in and out of bed because of the soreness. I actually have slept on my tummy the last 2 nights!! Started pureed foods and have been able to eat scrambled eggs. I found the clear isopure protein drink was the best for the first week post op. I found it at The Vitamin shoppe, or again amazon. It is truly a day by day process but I feel great. Went in on the 19th at 232 and today am 218. I even got back in the pool yesterday and just walked around in the water. follow your Dr.'s advice and you'll do great. Best of luck
  9. do not give up. Stay on the protein shakes, keep exercising. In the meantime could your folks use a credit card or take a loan that you can pay off??? Talk to everyone you know and ask for small loans from each one. Every dollar you can get your hands on is a dollar less you need for surgery. Can you sell or pawn anything? I know it's not easy but I've done it. Keep your chin up.

pureed recipes please I just got

Thank you all so much!! I think the pureed chicken with the mayo just ended up too dense. I'm looking forward to the refried beans. As far as the fudge pop, they told me to stick to under 5 grams of fat and 5 grams of sugar. I have been making a lot of sugar free instant pudding. Really good, lemon and white chocolate.

    Puree food

Every Dr. is different. Mine said liquids only ( jello, popsicles, pudding ok all sugar free ) then weeks 3,4,5, pureed, tuna with low fat mayo etc.

pureed recipes please I just got

I am 3 weeks post op and started pureed foods today. had a scrambled egg this morning, could only eat half. Chew, chew, chew. Tried a little pureed chicken with low fat mayo and it was too bulky. got about 1 tablespoon down but it's taking it's time going down. almost like pate. Not gonna try this again for a bit.
  15. I truly think it depends on where you are having your sugery. Mine was in Palm springs California at Desert Regional medical Center. I brought shorts, shirts, undies, Kindle, ear buds etc etc and found I used very little. I stayed in the gown they gave me until going home and used my chapstick. Only showered the day I went home. I had a private room so I was able to close the door if it got noisy but they still came in every 4 hours to take my vitals. check with the hospital/surgical center before you take the kitchn sink!!

    Bloating Hell

Have you talked to your doctor??? do you: live in a hot climate? eat a lot of salted foods or add salt? Getting your period or menopausal? Try drinking the water after boiling asparagus. but first and foremost call your doctor.
