Thank you! We've both been maintaining for about a year now...loving life! I figured I would update our pic, for those who are looking into the surgery. I rarely come on the site any more, my apologies for the delayed reply. During the exploratory stage, I was on this site daily, for hours at a time! Seeing the success of others was very inspirational and ultimately helped in my decision to proceed with the surgery. I came across your profile way back when and from the name, figured you might be in LA as well! Looks like you've really done phenomenal with the band! I have a good friend who did the band, with decent success...but nowhere near your transformation. Any issues? Regrets? Challenges?

That's the right attitude...keep on keeping on! I'd say good luck, however luck isn't a part of the equation...lots of moving around and eating right.

      You got this!

  5. Currently 3rd stall since surgery , but I've been going harder at the gym. I'll get to goal soon enough. Feeling great

Stalls will happen, main thing is to stay the course. Fantastic progress man!

  6. 28 hours and counting before I head to the hospital for surgery :)

The anxiety leading up to surgery was the worst part! I was ready for them to just get it on and be done with it! Time seemed to be going at half speed during this period, as well as the first few months post-op. Hang in there though, it'll be a distant memory before you know it. Now (17 months out) it seems like a lifetime ago! I pray the surgery is textbook and that you'll soon be cursing the nurses for waking every few hours to check you out and making you walk the halls! LOL

      Godspeed for a rapid recovery!

  7. Nerves.....second thoughts...

No worries. Trust me, you aren't the first or the last to have second thoughts. I'm telling you though, this procedure has been an absolute blessing for me! I'm 47 and feel better than I have in decades! I'm working out every day...no longer sore with aches and pains (attributed to the excess weight my frame was carrying)...and just feel like I've got a new lease on the second half of my life! Don't ever hesitate to give me a shout if you have any questions or just need a sounding board. I ain't an expert and am far from perfect, but I'll damn sure be honest with you! LOL

  8. Nerves.....second thoughts...

The anxiety is normal. This is major, life-changing surgery...if you weren't nervous, then you should panic!

This part of the process was undoubtedly the most difficult for me. However, it is all a distant memory now!

I was sleeved May 8, 2013 and my wife July 8, 2013. While my surgery and recovery were textbook, hers was a bit more challenging. She had two hernias repaired and it took about 3-4 weeks for her to quit complaining...uh-hm, I mean start to feel better!

Now, that period of time is a distant memory! She can tolerate just about everything, albeit in moderation. I can eat anything, i.e. steak, chicken, fresh tuna steaks, roast, crawfish, ribs, etc. (albeit, in moderation)

I am down 119 lbs. and hit my original goal around 10 months ago.

My wife is down 80 lbs. and hit her goal about 4 months ago (She looks fantastic, but she's on a mission to lose more...I told her not to get carried away, I don't want to feel like I'm hugging a sack of hammer handles!).

You are in for an awesome transformation! Just follow your doc's orders to the letter, allow your body time to heal, don't (DO NOT!) let the number on the scale dictate your feeling of success or failure (If you feel better and your pants are baggy, to hell with what the number is! LOL).

The first few months will be an emotional roller coaster...don't be afraid to use the folks on this site as a sounding board, I think you'll find this is pretty much a judgement-free zone!

By the way, if you decide to do it, you're in for one heck of a journey and there's an incredible feeling you, waiting on the horizon!

  12. Went shopping yesterday-- bought all size small shirts-- this still freaks me out! lol

  13. Beat my personal best for a mile- still slow, but getting better. :)

Awesome! You hit the nail on the head, "getting better"! I suspect it would have been difficult for the old you to run a mile, I know I would've struggled (more than likely passed out! LOL).

My wife lost her mind and signed us up for the Crescent City Classic! I'm not to the point of running or even jogging the whole way, however I will not be sitting at home that day either!

Keep it up Lady, good stuff!

  14. A day of emotional eating- at least it was healthy extras instead of brownies. ??

Amen! It's all about balance...crawfish season and King Cake season, at the same time. Coincidence? I don't think so! LOL

BTW, your transformation is nothing less than remarkable! Godspeed for continued success!
