  1. Two hours later, I am very glad I kept my gob shut )))
  2. Have no idea what a funnel cake is, lol, but I know what smelling like a French fry will be like :-)
  3. It's great to see the new you emerging - you look fantastic. Bet your hubby is soooo proud of you!
  4. OMG, does this mean I am missing out nutritionally????? This next date better go well....
  5. I have now taken the long walk to the bin - and dumped it :-( AngiD, it was chilli in a taco shell .... and it was the tastiest thing, lol. Have enough left in the pot to do it all again tomorrow. Thanks for the support and encouragement, am feeling pleasantly satisfied not sick and stuffed ha ha!
  6. I went clothes shopping yesterday with my best friend and we realised we had never done that before in the last 30 years because I would never admit what size I was. I also hated the assistants eyeing me up and down to decide whether I fitted their clothes. Anyhoo, was searching for a dress on the rail when the assistant came to help. Before I could shoo her away, she'd picked out a dress that she said was in my size - a US8. And it fitted!!!!! Who hoo....
  7. I made chilli for dinner, with tacos, so that my son and I could eat together. Delicious! I now have half a taco left on my plate and it contains the one more mouthful that will undoubtedly take me to the point of feeling uncomfortable...which I hate. But this chilli/ taco combo is the yummiest thing I have eaten this weekend :-( Maybe in days.... Someone, anyone, tell me to step away from the taco and put it in the bin....
  8. Well done you! Not just for recognising that you have made a big decision that is life changing with far reaching consequences, but for also raising such a great boy. So you should be proud of him and you. It is so hard to explain how life changes post sleeve. Yes, you lose weight. But there's so much more to being sleeved than just that and so much of it will blow away your old life and thoughts. So don't be too hard on yourself just now, you are on the road and you seem determined to succeed. So you will :-)))) Totally get the cleaning thing, I organised the house, the cleaning, the laundry and anything else I felt needed sorted to my head's satisfaction. Four weeks will be here before you know it. Best of luck, will be watching to see how you do...
  9. Sounds pretty normal. Makes sure you keep sip, sip, sipping your fluids to keep hydrated and do the best you can with the protein. First couple of weeks are tough and you will feel tired - but it gets better, just hang in there :-))))
  10. Check with your doc, they all seem to vary. Mine was 2 weeks because he said my surgery could withstand being hit by airbag after that.
  11. I am almost 6 months out and I don't feel hunger the way I used to. I feel a bit distanced from it - my stomach feels empty and grumbles, so I take that as hunger and eat. It's more of a physical thing than before and theres less of a frantic need to eat. Don't need to eat a huge amount to send it away....
  12. Check the Food & Nutrition forum, there's lots there to help you including recipes. Good luck, it does get better :-)))))
  13. First thing - u have done a great thing for urself - u took control by getting sleeved. It's a brave thing to do. So there's no need for u to be scared, u have shown courage so far, so breathe and look at what's bothering u... Eating right comes from being organised, irrespective of being busy. I've worked 13 out of last 14 days, so I know where u r coming from but there's always time to shop for the right food. If eating is painful, check out if u r eating bites that are too big, not chewing enough, eating too fast - or simply eating too much. Try changing how u eat and see if that helps. Stop trying to throw up. If ur body won't give up the food, u will do damage if u try to make it....and it's unlikely u r stretching ur sleeve, u have to eat excessive amounts regularly over a long period U r exercising - shut off the negative voice in ur head telling u it's not enough - it's enough for now. We may all want to aim for perfection, but doing the best we can is good enough.... As for failing many of us on here are past masters at that. But u now have ur sleeve. Work with it, let it do its job and u do yours - eat well, eat regularly, keep moving and drink ur liquids. Ur weight loss is great, give ur body - and urself - a chance before u right either off. So in summary, don't give up, stick with the plan and stop beating urself up. And remember, u r not alone, we r all here for u and its ok to feel scared but push through it, u can do this!
  14. Nope, wouldn't do it. Just because the challenge is there, why would you accept it if there is a health risk? In all things, we need to be aware of swapping one compulsion/addiction for another one. And as you feel good about your body now, you need to ask why you would do this to yourself and put your health at risk? For what? You have been an inspiration to me since I joined this site. Maybe I can return the favour by asking you to stop, reread your post and think before you do this - if someone else posted this, what would you say to them?
  15. Bit of a left field comment from a male friend was that my thighs are getting too thin ... for what???? Another guy asked where my butt went... Neither has ever made any comment about me before, so I didn't know they cared lol! Fav compliment you are so tiny". Not really but i am getting there :-) My dietician takes the prize for the comment that means the most to me " you are nearly normal" Laughed my head off but knew he was referring to my BMI!!!!
  16. At the start of this year, I wrote down everything in my life that I didn't like. I was shocked to realise how many things were making me miserable.... There were 13! This included my weight and body, my health, my career, my lack of a man in my life and lots of other things - the conclusion was that I wasn't actually happy with anything. So at the side of each of the things that I didn't like, I wrote down what i could do to change the situation. I have spent this year dealing with each in turn. As a driect result, I am now healthier, slimmer, waiting for cosmetic surgery to complete my physical transformation, dealing with my career situation, going out, dancing, having fun with friends etc ... but I have the sense that I am still a work in progress :-)))) For me, I think that sorting out so much has highlighted that I do miss having a partner to share in my new life. No one to make plans with or to look to the future with. Not so much a midlife crisis but perhaps in dealing with all the "noise" in my life and now being happy with how life is going overall, maybe I can now see clearly where my drifting feeling is coming from... Someone to share it all with....
  17. Well done, Laura. Life is hard enough without dealing with other people's energy sapping behaviour and ignorance. And anyway, real friends don't sit in judgment - instead, they accept, without question, that you know what you are doing and that's good enough for them :-)
  18. The thing I have noticed is that the smaller you get, the less people actually notice how little you eat. They assume you are a slim person who doesn't eat much rather than someone eating less to stay slim... A subtle distinction but most people believe you will be in the first category.
  19. Bien sur, Madam, in fact, I may even use - two straws!!!!!! ))
  20. Ha ha! Ok, ma wee speug, am gonnae finish ma deep fried Mars Bar and swallie ma ginger (Irn Bru of course) first...
  21. M2G, if there was a button for lmao, I would have pushed it repeatedly!!!! Mme R, what do u think would happen if I chucked in a few Scottish words???
  22. Thanks girls! I have failed to have any lasting control over my weight for the majority of my life, so I am thrilled and amazed on an hourly basis that this is working so well... Dietician read over from his notes of his first conversation with me back in March, how I felt and what my hopes were. I could cry for that sad girl (to be honest I am as I type this), because I didn't realise how bad I felt and how separated I had become from the real me. But she had the determination to go for this and I can never thank her enough. She's in here somewhere but I am going to let her go. The me of today can take it from here.
  23. Saw dietician tonight. I have now lost 60lbs post op (sleeved 26 April), 76.5lbs including pre-op. Those are numbers I never thought I would or could achieve so- woooohoooooo!!! For a non-tall person, whose BMI is now just below 27 (started at 41) and whose health is changed beyond recognition, all I can say is thank you sleeve, I literally couldn't do it without you, lol!! You have changed my life forever. I have now revised my target weight, which gives me 14 lbs to go (don't know why ticker keeps showing 7lbs). Cosmetic surgeon says my boob job will take 5 of those lbs away.... It's all getting soooo close.... Am away back to my happy dance (which I can now do for way longer without losing my breath, ha ha ha!!!) Normal service resumed soon......
