  1. So, I had my pre-op testing completed this week. God and Family tried to keep me from getting tested this week, and not e en my family! My in-laws, wife, children, and I went to the pulmonologist about 2 hours away from us, just because it is a bigger town, and was something to do Well, we leave my in-laws and kids at the mall while my wife and I went to the mall. Our first appointment (of 3) (lung function) goes just fine, and I pass my lung capacity test just fine. We leave that appointment, and start crossing the skyway to get to the lung X-ray / pulmonologist, and the sky is BLACK! We get to. He k in, and announcement comes over the loudspeaker: a tornado has touched down in this county, Cedar Rapids air sirens are going off. We start getting shuffled to the basement, and then they say... Mercy hospital is in no danger. So, god tried his best to stop me from appointment one Wednesday, my wife had an appointment, and they required some next day follow up. We were going to be in a neighboring town that next day for the rest of my tests, at three different hospitals with two different specialists... Thankfully I asked if we could get her follow up at one of the hospitals I would be at. Fortunately that was all right. Finally, the end of the day, the last appointment, and we go to see dr. Nadipuram, in our last destination... We get to the third floor, find their office. I tell the receptionist that I have an appointment with dr. Nadipuram, and she seems very confused. I specify, dr. Nadipuram, the hematologist? She says no, that's her husband, his office is across town! Seeing as we had just made it in time for our appointment, we zoomed across town, and they were kind enough to squeeze us in about an hour and 15 minutes after our scheduled appointment, so it meant a little more waiting, but we did it!
  2. Finally found a tasty protein drink. Shame it only has 5g protein, but it also has 5g fiber.
  3. I will appeal it with the surgeon if it is too high, insurance has already cleared me.
  4. Well, I tried tried I jury's tasteles, put it in about 20 oz of crystal lite, and I can taste the protein.. Ahh we,l, I've got two packets so ill try mixing it in food, but for a drink, unjury flavorless is out.
  5. I haven't yet, my a1c is on Thursday. I was told if it is above 8, surgery will be delayed, and my last a1c was a 9, so we'll see
  6. Well, I have been given clearance by my shrink, my NUT, and now the pulmonologist. All I have to do now is survive the lab work on thursday (and have an A1C 8 or less - yeah right), and get clearance from the hematologist, and cardiologist, and I will have my date!
  7. My last a1c was a 9, so it doesn't look promising
  8. I think ysmv and ypmv both have merit...
  9. You are definitely not the only one... I kind of obsess about stuff like this, and this site helps me do so without making my wife want to kill me.
  10. Kchristian, I've got the feeling I'll be the same way. My wife is overweight (don't tell her I said), but nowhere near as bad as I am, and I've got this feeling I'll be doing second glances at everything she eats after the surgery.
  11. Actually, put the jello powder in, then the boiling Water, stir 'till dissolved. That reduces the heat (because apparently water over 140 degrees does funky stuff to protein), and then I whisk in the Protein powder.
  12. I make Jigglers like that (appx 1/2 the water), and it works really, really well. And the types I've had (Cherry and Roadside Lemonade) have even tasted really good!
  13. Which 'flavorless' Protein has the least taste/texture? I have a couple of samples of unjury, I'm considering buying some Isopure, any other suggestions?
  14. I've bought both flavors, but I haven't tried them yet... I'm pre-op though.
  15. I really like Syntrax nectar Cherry, and Syntrax Nectar roadside lemonade in cherry, and raspberry SF Jello jigglers, respectively. Also, G3 (Gatorade), is probably my favorite, followed by Isopure Zero Carb RTD.
  16. My wife probably will, my children will be with my in-laws, and my mom, all of whom will be at the hospital at least the day of.
  17. I think it would be considered a 'full' liquid, so if you can do things like yogurt 5 days out, you should be ok, but ultimately, speak to your nut or doc
  18. So far, Roadside Lemonade, and Cherry are AWESOME as add-ins for SF Jello jigglers. Caribbean Cooler is NOT a yummy popsicle (Though I'll probably eat the 3 1/2 I have left). Crystal Sky isn't so yummy as a normal shake. Hrm... I wonder if I add a little davinci's syrup to the caribbean cooler popsicles... Nahh, I don't think that will help.
  19. Just curious if anyone had high blood sugars with him, and how was it handled?
  20. Well, I've tried a 'practice' liquid diet today... It went very well, and I was never starving. I had Protein Jello, some G3, some egg drop soup/broth, and I found out one thing. If I don't eat, I don't drink as much - this is something I DEFINITELY need to work on, as I know I'll need to stay hydrated post-surgery. Except for the bottle of G3, I didn't have any sugar/carbs except for the broth, and my blood sugar still didn't drop below 121 I'm doomed.
  21. I take glybiride, and bydureon (injection)...
