I will be using FMLA, and no, I wasn't required to use PTO before it kicked in.

I have the stomach flu for a couple of days, and while that sucked, it did make me think that a liquid diet would not be complete unbearable... On the other hand, it was 2 days, not 2 weeks pre/2 weeks post, but hey, I'll take support where I can get it!

Uhh, should be Thursday at this point (per the Customer Service Rep)... I guess I'll keep at it 'till then. Then the testing, and assuming that all turns out ok, then we have the surgery... Still hoping for the middle of July, but I guess we'll see.

I'm pre op and I've been walking for 2 days. it was fine the first day, but today I'm in a lot of pain when I went on my walk... For those of you with chronic aches and pain, how do you get your thirty minutes a day in?

I'll fight it, it is just kind of a let down. I'm going to get more specifics tomorrow, and my insurance coordinator is on the ball also...

Well, I was denied by my insurance... I called my insurance company today and I was told my prior-authorization was denied. They apparently did not receive the separate evaluation from a different physician recommending for bariatric surgery and approval for surgery. I had an appointment for that specifically on the 24th of May, and it was sent over to my Surgeon's Office on the 28th of May (and they confirmed receipt). I SHOULD have asked if there were any other reasons for the denial, but I'll probably ask on another day. I've emailed my insurance coordinator at my Surgeon's office to see if she has any more clarification she can offer, and she did state that she sent the information with the initial prior-authorization, so she has faxed it again twice today. I guess I'll call again tomorrow to confirm they received her fax, and to see if there were any other reasons for the denial. Ahh well, there is always an appeal. Does anyone think I should maybe go to a supervisor, or is that going to do me more harm than good?

I know I've heard of some people doing this... Does it cut down on the awfulness of protein shakes in general?

I called again today, and they told me tonight or tomorrow... I'm so proud of myself I did not call again tonight once a day is my limit... Until next week

Speaking as someone recovering from bad credit, don't take out a loan or a cc. This is an elective surgery, something you can wait for if you have to. Save up, use your tax return or a bonus, or see if your employer offers a medical flex plan.

Money is tight right now, as I'm sure you can all imagine... Is this book going to give me more information than my nut/surgeon, and other books I've read? I know it is just 10 bucks for a digital copy, but I've bought a few other books, and so far they're just rehashing what I've learned at my surgery consult, nut consult, and psych consult. What makes this book stand out (besides the fact that it probably supports this community and I shouldn't be such a cheapskate).

I do have a support group in my area, hosted by my surgeon's team in fact... I mean, my nutritionist provided a ton of useful information http://www.wheatoniowa.org/programs-services/weight-loss-surgery/patient-education/diet-and-nutrition.aspx , and I like books because they answer questions sometimes I didn't know I had. These forums are ok for that, but I'm wondering what other people have done.
