1. Hey guys I had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy on July 1st and I've lost 105 pounds since then! The top left is the day before my surgery and the bottom right is the day of my birthday. (October 31st) Finally starting to see a difference! So proud of myself

OMG

I told everyone at work about my surgery and I took two weeks off...I work at best buy/geek squad as a customer service agent and it's a pretty physical job, lifting tvs and computers...doing occasional carry outs. Well lets just say...I should have taken more time off! I was so sick when I went back to work that I ended up in the hospital for dehydration! I'm about 5 weeks out now and doing much much better.

Taco Bell Torture

I had Taco Bell refried beans at three weeks out. I could only eat two bites before I was full though

Almost one month out

Left is before and right is almost one month out. I was sleeved on July first in Mexico by Dr Jesus Ortiz. I had one stint in the ER with dehydration, and a severe sinus infection...but I feel like I'm over the worst and finally starting to do better. I can't really tell a difference...I've lost just over 50 pounds.

should I go back to work?

I took two weeks off...but I wish I had taken longer. I was sleeved on July 1st and I'm still having issues...I get really tired and often very nauseous.

Post-Op Wet Dreams...

In my opinion drinking soda is equivalent to drinking battery acid. Just drink tea or get a sugar free slurpee

Back to work :(

So I'm two weeks post op and I just started back to work yesterday and it was absolutely miserable. I work as a customer service agent for geek squad in best buy and I was so exhausted by the end of my 5 hour shift I almost fell asleep in the car on the way home! Lol... I was also having like cold sweats and nausea....then about ten minutes till the end of my shift I went in the bathroom and threw up! It was pretty sad. As if all of that wasn't enough...after work I went and got myself a small sugar free slurpee...I was hot and I wanted just a little treat...I knew I wouldn't drink the whole thing anyway...well I walked in the front door of my house and the first thing I do is trip over my 100 pound Great Dane... I went flying...and spilled slurpee all over me! So here I was just rolling around on the floor covered in slurpee...crying and my dog didnt even notice what had happened! She's such a freaking moose! Lol. Anyway...that's my story...bad times all around!

Tiny bowls!

I got myself some cute little bowls so that I literally could not get to much food lol. Using a normal size bowl just depresses me because I can't put but a couple spoonfuls of Soup into it....these I can fill them about half way full and it makes me feel like I'm getting more even if I'm not.

WiFi at TJ

I've heard the marriot charges 8 dollars a day but I'm not sure, I would have to go over my paperwork to find out if they charged me
14. Wow you look great!!! How have you been feeling? More energy?

Tiny bowls!

They hold about 3 or 4oz and they come at target 4 for 1.99 lol! I only had eyes for the pretty pink though lol

Did you feel like your laptop was safe?

I have a new MacBook Pro as well. I wasn't worried at the hospital because I didn't even take it out, I was to tired lol. At the hotel, I just put the do not disturb sign up on the door anytime we left. I mean, you should still be proactive with your belongings, don't just leave it sitting out in your hospital room or hotel if you aren't there. Also, if you have Netflix you should check it out in Mexico! Their selections are so much better than ours!

Chest pains

Any kind of chest pain should be looked at by a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry

Dumb ?...are you intubated for surgery?

Typically they will secure an airway for any type of procedure where you are put under general anesthesia so yes you will be intubated.

a list of things to bring?

I brought a pair of comfortable sweat pants, some pajama pants and a few t-shirts. I also brought my laptop and I'm hella glad I did because Mexico has some bitchin Netflix options.

Phentermine after Surgery

It's no wonder you aren't losing weight. You are actively drinking over ten teaspoons of sugar everyday...along with whatever other crap is in that soda.....and this is coming from someone who used to drink two 64oz Pepsi's a day. And I quit cold turkey because its sooo bad for you! Trust me, I was sick...headaches, chills, no energy...I felt awful for days. It just seems like your doctor would have pursued other avenues (like a nutritionist to talk to you about how many empty calories your drinking). Prior to prescribing such an addictive medication to someone who already has issues with soda addiction, and who probably had a food addiction as well..... I'm sorry that I'm not super supportive...I just hate to see the hard time you have had of it and you should know that you are able to do things you never thought you could do and you will be better in the end for it.
21. I like the last one! I hate when I see people with less than 50 pounds to lose talking about having 85% of their stomachs removed!

Depression and anxiety

I was sleeved a week ago exactly and I've dealt with anxiety since I was in high school...also a little bit of depression, mostly anxiety though. I've noticed that after surgery I've been very anxious in public places, afraid people will bump me or run into me and hurt my incisions. Also I've felt very anxious and worried over getting my fluids and Proteins in...I'm having a lot of trouble. I'm also dealing with just...constant emotions that I wasn't expecting. For example, I have a smart phone with the dominos app that I can use to order right off my phone...well the other day my mom asked me to order a pizza for her...and I got so irrationally mad at her! Lol...I know it's stupid to be mad that she can eat pizza when I can't...but I was totally pissed. Luckily, I was able to go into my room and fume quietly without her ever knowing...it's just hard because I feel like my emotions aren't my own!
