    alcoholic beverages??

I was told that carbonation can stretch your pouch, so steer clear. I have a daily alcoholic beverage with soda and an occassional beer and have had no issues. It has slowed weight loss down I am sure (but so has not working out)

sorry. It does sound like heart burn then.

    Foods you can't eat?

What I can eat one day can totally come back on me the next. Eating slower and chewing better help. There are a few things that never seem to go down like bread, donuts, tortillas, chicken (even chunky chicken salad) steak, pork chops, pasta and sushi. I havn't had trouble with much else.

    chest pain/heartburn?

Sounds like you are eating too much or too fast. I get that pain if I eat something I am not supposed to(sushi or bread) and most times I eat chicken or steak. It subsides when the stuck food passes, whether that is up or down. Chew better, eat slower, watch the sticky and hard to chew well stuff and don't drink after eating. Good Luck.

    alcoholic beverages??

I love my alcohol. The problem with it is that is keeps you from losing weight due to the calories. It also dehydrates you and if you are drinking alchohol, your not drinking water which is also detrimental to you. I have a drink everyday (sometimes 2) and have an no issues (other than slowing my weight loss down) (I've lost 41 pounds since banding 4 months ago). What you are wanting (a few times a year shouldn't hurt you). Just realize you will get buzzed easily since you are eating less, so take it slow. Good luck.
  9. I keep Water next to me to help me when I forget to chew properly. It helps unstick the food.
  10. hello. I have been banded for 6 weeks now, and had my 1st fill a week ago. Once you swallow a few times without chewing properly, you will learn quickly. It hurts to have food stuck in your chest so much that you figure it out very quickly.

self pay how long did you have to wait

I was self pay. My initial appointment was May 15 and I scheduled my surgery for May 30th. I could have gone right away, but they want you to go on a liquid diet for a week prior to surgery to lose 10 pounds to help shrink your liver. You will be on this for 2 weeks after surgery so you might as well get used to it before hand. I was glad there was no wait. I was in a hurry too. Good Luck.
  12. I am not quite as old, 45, but a grandma of 2 little darlings...13 month old grandaughter and 15 month old grandson...and 18 month old son (can you believe it!) Just got banded May 30th and have lost 17 lbs already. My doctor, his wife, and his 65 year old mother-in-law are all banded. It convinced me to proceed. Good luck to you.
