  1. I couldn't eat the pops either or tolerate Water hardly they made me sick. One day I went to sonic and got a route 44 cup of ice and every since I have been doing that and actually getting my water in by chewing sonic ice for hours!

My sonic will sell their ice by the bag full. I bought a bag the other day. :)

  2. I will be honest. The first week I was a HOT AS* MESS! I cried at little things. My kids would draw me a picture and I would cry. I have never, ever been this emotional. I have been described by a few as "frosty". So all these meds and hormones coursing through my body sent me into a tailspin. PLUS a friend reminded me that my doctor had me stop my birth control pills to lessen my chances of blood clots. HELLO! RED FLAG RED FLAG!

Take a deep breath and relax. Grab a box of kleenex and let it out. It gets better. Oh and remember all those bags of IV Fluid hanging in the hospital? Yeah those could be the reason for the weight gain. Just take it easy and let your body heal.

  3. My drain was on my left side and I was sent home with it. It was a ginormous pain in the arse. I took a dosage of pain med (1 oxycodone) about an hour before my dr. appt. I thank God my husband insisted on me taking it. I chatted through the whole thing. Why be in pain if you don't have to?! I am now almost 2 weeks out and if I could just get rid of this ridiculous gas bubbling around my body. ARG!

  4. riss523 -Malt o meal, watered down oatmeal, thinned out and strained cream Soup, yogurt, greek yogurt, pudding, Jello. That's all I got. I added a sprinkle of flavored crystal light powder to my greek yogurt and that was really good. I also made a soup this week that I was able to drink the broth. Not at all inventive, but I am going by what the dr told me. Plus all milk and pudding I had to nix after a rather unsettling, ahem, experience.

  5. Funny thing, today I feel like a completely different person. Maybe I just needed the required ugly Oprah cry? Today I showered and didn't feel like taking a nap afterwards. I took the kiddos to preschool and stopped by the grocery store afterwards for a few items. Now I am tired, but not the full-body all encompassing exhaustion. I tried some milk yesterday in a greek yogurt smoothie. That was a no-go. No bueno. I have heard a few people discuss milk intolerance after stomach surgery. Baby steps, every day..

  6. So today (7 days out) was the day that I hit that hormonal wall of crying like a lunatic. I am not used to laying around to heal. I am a ‘rub some dirt on it and keep moving' person. But today the stars aligned and I lost it. I am just so darned exhausted. I can do dishes for 5 minutes before my back is killing me. I took a nap after driving my kids to preschool. Seriously. I had a csection with twins and *never* felt this exhausted. My back has been bothering me lately, like a burning ache. Perhaps if I move a little more tomorrow I will feel better. One step at a time....

  7. About handling a liquid diet post op- it depends on your surgeon. Mine requires 3-4 days liquid post op. That isn't bad at all. I didn't feel like eating until the 4th day. Now I am hungry often eating on the puree diet. I haven't cheated at all because the repercussions are too high- having food lodged at stomach opening or a stomach tear. No thanks. Plus, eating incorrectly is what landed me in this mess to begin with. Hang in there and be strong!

  8. I slept in a lazy boy for 3 days when I got home. I am now back in my bed and normally sleep on my back. My left side is still super sore. I was told that this is 100% normal since they removed it from my left side. They also mentioned there are internal stitches that haven't dissolved yet (almost 1 week out). If I shift in the night it is to my right side now. Oh and I use plenty of pillows- a body pillow under my left leg (simply because I am weird like that), one under my left arm to keep me from rolling on my left side, and one under my head. Good luck in finding what will work for you!

  9. My husband has told me exactly 6 times how goooooood the new homemade taco seasoning is. THANKS as I am eating my 3-4 tbsp of refried Beans. I understand. Sometimes I just get up and leave the room. It's the easiest thing to do. Or, I grab my Water and sip on it. I am 6 days out of surgery and in the 'pureed' stage and still starving. I generally have a shake for Breakfast, a shake for lunch (to get all the Protein in) and some watered down cream Soup or like tonight, refried beans. I did just realize this morning that my dachshund is eating more than I am these days. ERG!

  10. YAHOO! I had surgery on the 23rd and just got my drain and staples out. Yippee! No seriously, walking around with a drain hanging out of your gut is a real downer. Real downer. Sucks actually. I am still having a few issues with eating - like pain and burping bubbles when I eat or drink. I am hoping these subside when I can actually regulate my Protein & Water intake a little better. Plus I think swelling has something to do with it. I am getting a good 50 of protein daily with 2 shakes. I try to get 48 in water, but lets be honest, water still sort of hurts going down. Especially on an empty stomach. I am getting better by carrying around my water all day and sipping every 10-20 minutes. It will get better......it will get better.....

  11. Sneaking in here, for the the light brown spots you got with pregnancy. It's called 'mask of pregnancy' I believe, and I got a few Patches on my face from my twins. Good times. I have found that Alpha Hydroxy with 10% Glycolic Acid from Ulta works really well. It is gonna burn coming on, but that is normal. It does dry your face out, so make sure to use a hydrating lotion in between applications. :)

  12. I have staples and steristrips. I don't mind titanium' date=' since I have a titanium hip!

I have to give myself the blood thinner shots in my belly. Don't like that. And today is the first day that my throat hasn't hurt like crazy. But my shoulders do. Weird.[/quote']

My nurse told me that many people experience shoulder pain. It is the gas working it's way out. I know it sounds odd, but apparently it's true. Maybe the gas rises and manifests in your shoulders?

  13. Revenge? How about Inspiration? If your experience has minimal' date=' or no complications, and the weight GRACEFULLY melts off, you will be inspiring her. It sounds like she is under a lot of pressure to be in that department with weight issues of her own. Feel compassion for her. you'd be taking the high road.

I doesn't MATTER if she is critical. That's her issues. You don't have to embrace or internalize any of it. Don't waste energy on this. Focus on YOUR good health, including your good mental health.[/quote']

The reason I said revenge is that she is surrounded by inspiration on a daily basis working in a bariatric unit. If she can't gleen an ounce of inspiration from her surroundings then she won't get it from her family.

Maybe I am being pessimistic since I just encountered this with some close friends - all of whom had have some sort of plastic surgery. Yet instead of supporting me they have opted for silence. This kept me from telling really anyone except my immediate family. And I mean immediate. In fact we just told my fil this evening that I had a sleeve done on Tuesday.

  14. I am new here too. I had my gastric sleeve on 4/23. I am now in the healing phase. I have always had problems with my weight. Its been up, down, and all around. It suddenly hit me one day- I have spent the 1st half of my life in a constant struggle with my weight. I will be darned if I spend the second half of my life struggling like that. Not one more day. I don't want my children to struggle with their weight like I have. I had to get my weight under control. I will be celebrating my 40th birthday next year as a thinner and healthier person!

  15. I was sleeved on the 23rd and sent home on the 24th. I was still bleeding real heavily while in the hospital so the sent me home with a drain. Walking with a drain is painful and causes me to bleed more. I get the drain out on monday. Thank God. My pain meds were changed to something stronger on Thursday. I am starting soft solids today - things like malt o meal with a scoop of Protein Powder. I think getting some Protein in my body will make a world of difference.
