    SC Southern Sleevers?

I had my surgery with Riverside Surgical and Dr. Antonetti - a day or two after my insurance approval the office called me to schedule my surgery. I went on pre-op diet for 2 weeks and had my surgery. Its been smooth sailing ever since.
  3. I think we all suffer with this - I'm constantly freezing now - even in hot humid South Carolina weather...I've decided to look on the bright side - when I'm shivering I'm burning more calories!!!

    Flintstones with Iron? Multiviamin?

My Doctor and Nutritionist told me 2 Flintstones Complete from now on. That's the only type of multi-vitamin that they recommend.

Addiction to Diet Coke and Coffee is GONE!

I thought that I would NEVER be able to break that addiction because basically all I ever drank was Diet Coke but I quit cold turkey two weeks before surgery and haven't had any problem! I do miss the convenience of being able to stop and get something to drink while I'm out - I'm not a big fan of plain Water and I'm only allowed decaffienated tea which is pretty hard to find in convenience form but I'm getting better with keeping MIO in my pocket book so that I can just grab a bottle of water somewhere...

Tastes Of Food? Better Or Worse?

I agree with most here that most everything tastes a little bland for awhile. The only big difference that I have noticed is that I used to love tuna fish and now it makes me gag and I wasn't a big fan of chicken before but now i crave it!!

    SC Southern Sleevers?

Hey girlie! Still hanging in there. Things are progressing nicely - I've actually lost almost 100 lbs since I started this journey - about 88 since my surgery. Can't believe that it's happening so fast and that I feel so good. Definitely starting to look like a Sharpei puppy though! How are you doing? Chanvita - you out there?

    What's That On Your Head?....

I had very thick short hair when I started this journey and it was bleached almost white. Well - it was like the DAY that I hit my 3 month post op appt - my hair started falling out badly. I'm right at 4 months post op now and I'm afraid that I will be bald by 6 months if it keeps falling out like this (when you have really short hair - there isn't much there to disguise with!) To make matters worse - I started turning gray while still in high school so I've been coloring my hair for years (LOTS of years - I'm 56 now!) I'm afraid to color it now because I'm afraid that it will make the hair loss worse. My hairdresser told me to go to a wig store and buy a wig that I liked and bring it to her. She put it on me and cut and styled it to fit my face - I absolutely love it and it looks pretty close to my original hairstyle that only the people closest to me know that it's a wig. We call it my "spare hair"! You look fabulous in yours and I swear that if you had not told us I would never, ever have guessed that it was a wig - it looks very natural. Maybe we need to start a "Bald is Beautiful" for women campaign!!! Hang in there - it will get better soon!!

    Baked Balsamic Chicken

Thanks! This looks good - I'm always looking for good healthy recipes that don't call for strange exotic ingredients that I will never use again!

    What's Your Favorite Store Now?

Lizzy K - THANK YOU!! I was seriously beginning to think that I was the only one! I have lost almost 90 lbs and have only gone down 3 sizes in pants - what the heck is up with that? Tops sizes have gone down a great deal more because my boobs have apparently moved to another zip code without me - but the pants thing has really bummed me out. And before anyone asks - no - I'm not a pear shaped woman - I'm very curvy and my top and bottom don't look out of proportion.....

    Thyroid Medicine

I also kept taking mine the whole time I was in the hospital (except for the day of surgery). It's such a small pill that it went down without any problems. I never had to crush any of my pills - I just cut them in two and was able to get them down - good luck to you!! You will figure out what works best for you.

Dr. Antonetti did my surgery - he's a wonderful surgeon! His staff is extremely supportive and encouraging.

    My Southern Sleeve Revival

Dr. Marc Antonetti did my surgery - he's a great surgeon and has a fantastic team working with him. I had my 3 month check-up with him yesterday and I've already lost over 70 lbs. Welcome aboard!

    Bcbs federal

Mine was pretty fast too - less than 2 days!
  17. Does anyone have any experience with this? I could be in REAL trouble - I'm not sure that I actually remember what my natural hair color is - much less if it STILL that color or it has perhaps moved on towards that snow capped effect!! I heard that it causes the hair loss to be much worse but really can't find any resources to check if this is true or just rumor. Any and all real life experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

    Beef Jerky anyone?

Sam's sells several different kinds of "Pounder" size jerky bags - it's much cheaper that way then trying to buy at regular stores.
  19. Mine has been so much better since the surgery - I'm almost 2 months out. Have lost 72 lbs (including pre-op) and I can tell a huge difference in my RA and the osteoarthritis in my knees. The real test will be in the next month or so when the weather changes - that's usually when mine kicks up big time.

    Hiatal Hernia and the sleeve?

I'm actually 7 weeks post-op - they also discovered a hiatial hernia when they did my endoscopy. Surgeon repaired it at the same time that he did my sleeve. Just a little extra soreness in the throat for a couple of days - you will be fine! Good luck to you - we'll be waiting for you on the loser's bench!!
  21. They are my favorite protein shakes also. In my area - Target has them in 4-packs for $4.48 and they carry all the flavors including the Cafe Caramel which is my very favorite!! I just don't think that you can beat them for convenience, taste and price!

    Yoga

Blessedfun2 Girl - I SO wish you lived in Columbia so that we could go do Yoga together. I used to go all the time and absolutely loved it till health wouldn't allow it. Now I'm ready to go back but have no one to go with.....I know...I know....get off my hiney and go by myself!! BUT it would be so much more fun with someone like you to hang out with!

    SC Southern Sleevers?

Doing pretty well. Still get extremely tired on occasion. Still losing okay. Have lost about 25 lbs since surgery - about 63 since starting this journey - though I haven't weighed this week yet. i try to only weigh once a week so I don't freak out if the scale doesn't move for a day or two! Looking forward to 2 more weeks when I can expand my food options a bit. Getting pretty tired of eating the same old thing all the time....
