  1. On another thread just a couple days ago a girl mentioned Halo hair extensions. To me those look like the way to go. I watched a lot of videos of people putting them on and since you dont clip them in or need to secure them they dont damage your hair. Google them.

    Not eating enough

Chibabyy, Did your Dr go by calories or the amount you were eating when he said it was too little? Sometimes I think maybe I'm not eating enough and I would lose better if I ate more but its hard to add more! Still I get around 800 calories and that seems to be the norm here.

    My update

Congratulations! You are doing great. I would hope nobody would jump on you for those few things you responsibly enjoyed in small amounts. To me you are doing this the right way. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Wigs?

Thank you for posting about this. I've been looking at videos and web sites for hours.
  5. I keep seeing people say they can only eat 2 or 3 bites and these are people that have been sleeved 6 months or more. Do you mean 2 or 3 big bites like you took pre-surgery? I know this sounds dumb but it keeps bugging me. Even 1/4 cup of food is a lot more than 3 bites to me.

    Pain! Gas? Help!

Take something with simethicone like gas-x and walk. I thought the chewable worked better than the strips. Its very common to have gas pain in the beginning. I still get gassy but its not painful anymore.

and this is why I needed VSG

Thank you Fred, looks like you are doing pretty awesome yourself. The weird thing is- for the first time in my life I know I can do it! I mean I know i WILL do it. I may not be the speediest but I will get there. If I can hit 50 lbs by 6 months which is looking doable I will be over the moon happy.
  8. I was at my highest weight in 2003, I weighed 298. In 10 years I have lost 76 lbs, 44.5 of that in the last 3 months. I just realized my ticker says I have 77 lbs to go so I am half way to goal from where I started 10 years ago. Ten years of yoyo'ing between 298 and 235, mostly sitting around 245. I haven't been in the 220's since the 1980's, I havent been under 200 since 1982 when I got married. I know the VSG is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

    Quenching My Thirst

I could barely drink Water until my 10th week. Now all I want is water, I cant stand the Powerade zero and G2 and other stuff I had to drink for 10 weeks. Today I was happy to drink 8 oz of water in about 10 minutes. That was a BIG improvement for me. I can drink water with lemon a little faster. I still don't think I drink 64 oz a day but because I keep adding ice I'm not really sure how much I drink.
  11. I'm not saying NEVER to anything. However I have a slow metabolism and I have to say RARELY to a lot of things I used to love. Part of this for me is eating healthier and FEELING healthier as well as weight loss. If I eat a lot of carbs- even whole grain crackers or half a piece of whole grain toast I feel sluggish and my joints ache again. If you can eat what you want and lose as much as you want then more power to you. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, be true to yourself.
  12. I will keep my work ID the same because I have kept it with the same photo since the place opened. I look HUGE on it too. My DL I will change when it expires because they will make me. If I had a choice I'm not sure what I would do. I understand Rokers POV. People only see my DL at stores when I use a credit card so I don't care what it looks like.

    Quenching My Thirst

I felt like I would die of thirst the first month after surgery. It was hot and I was used to downing a LOT of Water. I had to swish mouthfuls of cold water and spit them out and then sip tiny little sips slowly. I was never satisfied. Several times I took a big swig of water when I was out and couldnt tactfully spit it out and had to swallow just a bit at a time so that my swig became at least 4 swallows. I'm not reassuring you am I? After a month or two I got used to drinking less but I still dont feel like I can drink enough at 3 months out.

    Why the sleeve?

I wanted a permanent change. I didn't want a foreign object left in my body. I didn't want my intestines changed.
  15. I don't expect people to notice I have lost weight because I don't expect other people to pay that much attention to my body. I work in an office full of women and I know I have heard other women at times say they lost 20 lbs or more and I sure couldn't tell. Also I am always leary of asking someone if they lost weight and maybe they didn't and might feel bad.

    Honest Opinion time!

    Good decision.
  17. Those pictures someone takes without you being aware are the worst! My daughter took a picture at a Birthday party where I thought I was successful at staying out of camera range and it is horrifying! It definately is my worst "before".

    scales

If you don't want to mess with weighing remember 1/2 cup is 4oz (ballpark- depending on what you are measuring) and 1/4 cup is 2 oz.
  20. Now I have to reassess my goal ! If I change it to 136.5 I can say I lost a baby Giraffe. Well 2 more lbs to the Elephants heart!

    My progress!

No, I would make that trade!

    Stop eating processed meats...

I think many are eating those items because they have trouble with denser chunks of meat. I still have to have any meat extremely moist to the point of adding chicken broth to all chicken and au jus to beef. Now days most people want to grab whats quick instead of taking time to make something healthy. If I don't cook ahead on the weekend then I have to live on cottage cheese & yogurt as my "quick" foods.
  23. I don't know about a year from now but I will be at 3 months tomorrow. I realized just the other day I am not getting that chest pain that is so uncomfortable anymore. Being full feels closer to the old days, I'm really glad to be over that horrible pressure. I can even sneak in "one last bite" without making myself feel like I was going to die.

    Foods you cant have again

According to my surgeon the only thing I could never have again was sugar! I think I have to take that advice with a grain of salt, so to speak.

What do you eat on days when nothing looks good?

The only things I don't get sick of are tuna salad, eggs & mexican food.
