pre op and everyones eating around me!

I just tell myself that in 6 months or so I will be able to eat anything - in a responsible & controlled way of course! Everything we have now will still be available later so there's no hurry to eat it.

    I can't pick a Dr! Help!

Ginny Coleman, I'm getting sleeved by Dr Q on May 27th too! I can't wait!

    The Incedible Shrinking Biker!

Great progress! Thanks for sharing your story. Looking good.
  4. Under SupportGroups there is a whole group just for self pay & Mexico. You'll find most of the posts about Mexico there. I'm having my sleeve done in Tijuana on May 27 by Dr Quiones.
  5. I hope you keep taking pics of you and the pups. It is cool seeing you get smaller while they grow bigger! Congratulations on the first 50 lbs!

    Curiosity on your appearance

I just expect to be more wrinkely (I'm 54) and have terrible sagging skin. I have never been pretty anyway so I will be a real mess- and I dont care. I have never been thin and I dont know if thats even possible for me- and I dont care. I just have to get this weight off.

    Two Month before after

Wow! That's quite a change for 2 months! You look great!

    Once upon a time...

You look great, very handsome too. Congrats!
  9. I assume my loose skin will be BAD because I am 54 and my stomach has been overstretched all my life. I have bat wings already and my thighs started sagging a few years back when I lost 63 lbs. I expect to be a mess and to have to hide it for the rest of my life but....I'll take it. I am just too uncomfortable physically and mentally the way I am. I do wonder if those people who lose all their excess weight and cant get plastuic surgery do eventually lose most of the excess skin. I have read not to get a tuck until at least 2 years have gone by because your body will keep adjusting. I just wonder if it might go on even longer than that.

    Feeling TOO good after surgery?

I am determined to be one of you in 16 days. I believe in thinking positively and "fake it til you make it" or as Dr Drew says "act as if".

    Once upon a time...

Its better than a Fairy Tale, its real life! Congratulations!
  12. I think most people go by their PCP's suggestion as the best surgery for them and his PCP probably isn't a Bariatric surgeon! I also agree that because it isn't a permanent change the lapband may sound right to him. Today on the radio & TV I have heard the terms "easy way out" and "short cut" and those news people I have heard/seen so far almost all think he should have just worked harder at eating right and exercising. I have been VERY annoyed. I did like how Rev Al Sharpton who lost weight "the old fashioned way" as he calls it, supported him losing weight in any way that worked for him and offered his assistance at weightloss and maintenance. Not like I'm a Sharpton fan or anything but he was the only notable person I saw today make encouraging and not somewhat disparaging comments. Maybe I missed some favorable comments, I don't know but it disheartened me.

When you get skinny, don't shop at A&F.

Thats it! We need to organize a day and time for fat people all over America to meet at every A&F and strip and roll around on the floor.

    SURGERIES IN MAY!

smsgirl, Very informative! Thanks. I haven't seen anyone else talk about breathing exercises or Fluid building up in your chest! Good to know. Is that a thing with this kind of surgery or all surgery? I have never had surgery before. You and I are about the same size, I'm 5'8" and weighed 268.5 today which is up for me. Next week I start my pre-op diet. Good Luck!

    Taco

You can see the nutritional info on tacobell.com, I would assume the protein would be the same and you are throwing out the carbs, Calories of course would be wrong.
  16. He said he did it for his wife and kids not for political reasons but....I'm sure it had to influence him that people kept saying nobody would vote for such an overweight man for President. I just hope it works well for him, I see so many on here that had lapband and now are getting VSG.

    Wearing Jeans again.

Oh thank you, maybe this will become my new style! I actually thought of that because I did that when I was pregnant. Last resort! Please do! Are you wearing gauze pads over your incisions or are they "naked" ?

    Wearing Jeans again.

Ok, you younger ladies or any ladies that are more in tune with fashion. How weird would leggings look on a 54 year old fat woman with a dress? I only see 6 year olds in leggings but I see skinny chicks in skin tight pants that are like leggings. With a dress they should end under your knee right? I just cant bare my fat white legs to the public.
  19. Ok, so I was thinking should I ask the Dr for a note to be out of work an extra week or two just in case I feel like hell? Would an employer be likely to say they don't accept a Dr's note from a Dr in another country? Especially since it was not an emergency or otherwise required procedure? I don't want to ask my boss because I don't want to put the idea in her head to not accept the note. I'm having surgery on a one week vacation and I can't get an extension. I fully expect to be fine to return to work and my boss & supervisor ( but no one else) know I am having surgery. Hopefully this is needless worrying, I'm not really even worried, just trying to cover all bases.

    Wearing Jeans again.

Thanks Jacquelynn. It's funny my boss is the Ross Queen, she wears nothing but maxi dresses from Ross. I figure I'll get comments about dressing like her but I guess I may have to just laugh it off and do it. I think my sewing machine is going to get a real workout soon!

    Wearing Jeans again.

This is something I am worried about. I wear jeans every day and I have a 10 hour shift sit down job. I have to return to work a week after surgery and I don't know what I am going to wear! I hate to buy clothes that fit now because maybe I won't have trouble wearing jeans. I have one maxi dress that fits and one that is too big from when I was fatter that I could maybe adapt. I'm also wondering how hard it is to sit a few hours at a time a week post-op? I guess there is no way of knowing so I will just think positively and deal with it when I must. I can't imagine going to work without a bra on though! Surgery is 3 weeks & 2 days away - May 27th.
  22. Wow Matt, that is just incredible! You must be very proud. Is that 64 lbs since surgery day or starting pre-op diet or? No matter which its a huge achievement . Congratulations!

    SURGERIES IN MAY!

I'm only allowed decaf in the pre-op two weeks.
  24. I saw a video where a girl had a lot of post op swelling in her face and hands. Is this common? I know it is common to have pain from the CO2 gas after your surgery. My Dr's office said they try to release what they can but there will be some left and it usually results in left shoulder pain. How does the CO2 gas get out? Its outside your stomach so it isnt leaving by normal means, does it just dissipate inside you? Thanks, I have never had any kind of surgery before and I have 4 weeks until my sleeve.

    Questions about swelling and gas

Right, but how does the co2 "work its way out" when it isn't going out your mouth or butt because its not in your stomach?
