the week 3 stall is no myth. ~sigh~
vegasneon commented on Momonanomo's blog entry in Momonanomo's Blog
Its crazy isn't it? I feel like I haven't lost in soo long so I looked back on Fit Day. It was TUESDAY, 3 days ago- I could swear it was at least a week or more. Time is standing still but I dont go back to work until Monday, which will hopefully help. No matter how much I read about the 3 week stall and your body adjusting and blah, blah, blah its still a killer! -
Thank you fellow sleever and LIFESAVER :)

What kind of iron pill did you take? Like what mg? I wasn't told to take iron but I see that people do. My multi has 18mg which is the suggested daily requirement for average people. I am so tired I really wonder if that could help me too. I'm going to try googling how much iron is safe. I see people taking some kind of iron liquid too. -
I had my surgery on a Monday and on the first Thursday all I could handle was some chicken broth, G2 lemonade and about 2 oz of Protein shake. The next day I finished the shake and had 1 oz of ricotta cheese as well as G2 and a little chicken broth in the morning. It gets a little better each day. Dont expect much in the first two weeks. Work on getting some protein and fluids.

I cant sleep on my back because of back problems and boy did I get tired of only sleeping on my right side. Finally on day 8 or 9 I could lay on my left. I'm hoping when I weigh less I can sleep on my back. I only had one bad episode of pain and that was about 30 hours after surgery. My main issue was intense headaches. Sorry to hear you are still having pain. I didnt feel constantly full unless I tried to eat or drink. It was very hard for me to remember to go slowly that first week. I would fill my mouth with Water but usually remember to only let a tiny bit go down at a time, sometimes I fogot and tried to swallow it all which was painful. I still can not get anywhere close to 64 oz of liquid in at 2 1/2 weeks. All I found for gas was walking and taking simethicone (like gas-x). Even then there were times I just lay down and waited for it to get better which would take an hour. I have not exercised beyond walking and I am still so tired I only walk 1 and 1/3 mile a night. -
This is only day15 bit I am so gassy still! I've never been a gassy person and I don't even know how to make myself burp so it all has to go out the other way. Is it all this Greek yogurt fermenting in my belly? Maybe it's lactose intolerance? Or is it just my stomach adjusting to being smaller? Sent from my iPhone using VST

When did your gas get better?
vegasneon replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been walking but I'm only up to 1 and 1/3 of a mile at a time. I walk around in my house and shady backyard during the day when its 108 degrees and then I walk the longer walks at 10 or 11pm. I would walk more if it wasnt summer I think. Gas is about the same here. We saw a $3.31 yesterday and my DH thought that was the lowest possible around here. Here being Las Vegas, NV. -
You are almost a week ahead of me. Sounds like you are doing great. I am up to walking 1 and 1/3 mile but I have no incline around here. Up a hill sounds pretty impressive to me!

vegasneon replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That sounds pretty good, nice normal lunch & dinner. Not that Protein shakes are abnormal or anything. I love Cod, I could eat Cod & Broccoli every day. Thanks for sharing. You are doing awesome. -
When did your gas get better?
vegasneon replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. Well I can't gulp anything, I can't even take a decent size sip or bite. I really suspect all this dairy which I am not used to and yet the 2 week pre surgery liquids was mostly Protein shakes and yogurt too without gas. I just hope it PASSES. Yuk yuk Sent from my iPhone using VST -

I have a bottle of citracal petites and it says Calcium citrate right on the front. I don't take them because they aren't all that petite in my opinion so I will use them later but they do say citrate. What I do use is twinlabs wafers- how they call those big fat pills a wafer is beyond me but at least they are chewable citrate. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I had surgery two weeks ago today (well technically yesterday but I'm a nightowl). I can't believe how tiny and good my incisions look. I was always a slow healer but I never took care of myself and I think 4 weeks of Vitamins have helped. When I started my pre-surgery diet 4 weeks ago I was 266.5 lbs. When I had surgery 2 weeks ago I was 257.5 lbs and today I was 245 lbs. So I lost 21.5 lbs in 4 weeks, 12.5 lbs in the 2 weeks post surgery. Funny I feel like this is going so slow but when I step back and figure it out I think I am doing pretty durn great! My best friend says my face is thinner, my DH says my tummy is smaller. I really don't think they can see a difference yet but I still appreciate the thoughts! My only complaint is I am still so darned tired! If I lose weight and I'm still so lethargic and tired all the time I am gonna be pissed! Then I will know something else is wrong with me. I always get all my Protein in but have not yet been able to drink anything near to 64 oz of Water or even liquid. Without trying to my calories seem to be alternate between 350 & 650. So there I am, Rebecca age 54, 245 lbs and very excited about this new way of life. Also I was excited that today I was exactly 100 lbs to my goal weight! So any day now I can say I have less than 100 lbs to lose!

How long does it take to heal!?
vegasneon replied to miangr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a sit down job and I had meant to go back to work a week after surgery. My surgeon talked me into taking 3 weeks off and I am so glad. Yes, I COULD have gone back but its hard to get all your water & protein in at first and I would have been so tired and miserable. I probably could have gone back easily at two weeks but my company put me through so much hell getting my leave set up that it wasn't worth it for me to try and change the date. Still at 2 weeks out there are days I am very glad to be able to nap and not work. -
Wow, Peanut Butter just seems to thick & gooey I was surprised how early people can eat it. I just looked at my post op instructions and it states peanut butter in the puree' stage which I am in now. I haven't had PB for a very looong time because I cant just eat a spoonful. Well NOW I bet I cant even eat a spoonful but I'm still askeerd of it from before. Seriously I think if I take one little lick of it I will really be bothered that I can't have more so I think I better just move along.

If you have tomato soup let us know how it goes. I have never liked it but now I want it. I bought a can but haven't been brave enough to try it. If I can't eat it my husband will- he loves the stuff. I thought tomatoey things were supposed to be hard on some people. -

why so many "my journey with so and so in Mexico" posts
vegasneon replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any issue with Dr's surgeons, nurses or any medical workers in the US. My issue is with my insurance company. My husband has always reciived good care with his surgeries and Dr care in the US. I might not have gone to Mexico if I could have had my out of pocket in the US be even close to what I paid there. However if I had not read peoples experiiences going to Mexico I would not have gone. One of the posters above hasn't seen people who had surgery in the US post details of their surgeries. I find that odd because I have read detailed accounts of surgeries taken place all over the US and almost all of the you tube videos I have seen have been people that had surgery in the US. Isn't Luke from Mass on this forum? He is one that went into great detail along with pictures & video of his surgery in Boston. -

vegasneon replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Dr I went to in TJ, and his staff never once brought up the subject of me writing anything about them on the Internet. They never once even mentioned Forums or anything online. Some of those people who are trying to be coordinators and write those posts you are talking about went to the same Dr as me. I believe they somehow found out they could get a $100 credit for getting a friend to come (this was never mentioned or offered to me) and felt they would make it into a new income stream. I wonder if the Dr even knows these people are making him look- not bad but....I don't even know how to say it. It may make you doubt that he is as good as he is because of the stories you don't know if you should believe. Anyway I'm just trying to say I believe the problem lies with those posters not the Drs. . -
Any sleevers with narcissistic mother?
vegasneon replied to mariadt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its not just Moms, its women. So many of us have such a messed up relationship with food and our weight. My very best friend in the world who is much closer to me than my siblings ever were and is very supportive thinks I should have just stayed on the liquid diet. I tried to explain that isnt sustainable for the long haul. She is a bit more than 100 lbs overweight but she has only gone through this as an adult and I dont think it is even a big deal to her. Most of the overweight women I know dont seem to feel a real NEED to get to a healthy weight. The women I work with encourage people to their faces and then laugh behind their backs at their portion control or their not eating junk food. They would like to lose weight but they dont want to do the work. I think they want me to tell them the weight will just fall off after surgery with out any deprivation. If that wee true they would get it too but they just laugh about how they can't live without chips, candy, soda and fast food. Its very sad and it makes me not want to even let the subject of food or diets or WLS come up. I'm venting now- sorry. -
Very cute!

Any sleevers with narcissistic mother?
vegasneon replied to mariadt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't spoken to my mother in 16 years. It is unlikely I will ever speak to her again. The last straw was something unbelievable and unthinkable that I won't go in to here. I suffered with her for 38 years and I don't regret one bit that we are not in contact. If we were on speaking terms there is no way in hell I could tell her I was having WLS. She once told my son that the reason she had 6 kids is because there are always one or two not speaking to her! This was before I quit talking to her, from that day forward she forgot my son exists. My daughter was always her favorite grandchild and they still talk. My mother is a very mean, bitter, strange person. My fathers daily mantra was "damned if you do, damned if you don't". That pretty much sums up my mother. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
This is so ridiculous. Sleeved on May 27 and now last night & this afternoon and tonight again I only eat 3 bites and have horrible chest/ gas pain. I think I'm forgetting now to take the tiny tiny bites and to stretch the meal out for a half hour. Once it starts hurting this bad all I can do is take simethicone and lay down for at least an hour. I just stated purée on Tues so I was able to eat without pain two and a half days before I started messing up. I'm so annoyed with myself. Any one with tricks or suggestions?
