  1. Hi I had gastric sleeve 4 years ago and didn’t have pain you are experiencing however, because of GERD, had revision to bypass . Then everything you describe was my painful experience like others had all sorts of tests when still there at week 4 which revealed nothing. At week 6 , I moved awkwardly and something ripped. I was in agony for 2 days . Then 2 days after that, all pain resolved met with surgeon and he told me that he had double stitched the muscle as he was concerned about hernia risk. Its worth getting checked out but if they find nothing , then it is part of healing process hope you get better soon

    Constipation Issues

Hi not sure what you mean by “ hard to go” but probably wise to get some gentle stool softener from doctor so that it doesn’t build up. you are not eating any fiber currently good luck

    Revision to bypass

Hi there i had my sleeve in January 2014 and was revised to Bypass in January 2018 because of gerd good news - my GERD has been resolved i have not had any issues with dumping but been very careful with food i was told that I should not eat anything with more than 10g per serving of added sugar. I have been very careful. But that would allow you your creamer? eating is a different experience i don’t yet know my tell for full and I can eat more at two months with this surgery than I could with sleeve obviously losing weight much more slowly than first time round hope thats helpful
  6. So, in 600 pound life, they go to see a therapist when weight loss is stalled or going backwards and almost immediately , all issues are solved and they start losing weight again. The wonder of tv. i have limited options as i live in a german speaking country and the one I met, was nice but had no idea of using food to stuff down feelings Maybe my expectations are just too high.. Has anyone else successfully used a therapist or Bariatric coach? any recommendations for people for Skype consultations please? As a remote off chance, I will be in Bloomington MN for an extended period from April; anyone in that area? Thank you for advice
  7. Hi there i had this; the hospital ran me through a ct scanner as could be some unpleasant things so if it persists I would recommend going to hospital in my case the ct scan showed nothing but that didn’t help the pain which persisted from week 2 to week 6 saw my surgeon yesterday and he explained that it was because they tightly stitch the muscle to prevent hernia. As the muscle heals, the stitches may pull. In my case the pain lasted to week 6 . Then I moved awkwardly and tore the stitches. Lots of pain like being stabbed but surgeon not too worried as he said at 6 weeks hernia unlikely hopefully it’s nothing serious for you too but it’s wretched, the pain was dreadful you have my sympathy
  8. Thanks for input all clearly things very different in Switzerland. Here I was on purée food before I left hospital both times , so day 2 , and the nutritionist is fixated on me not drinking my calories or protein and/ or getting to 1000 calories of “ real” food Frustrated by the approach here as I have no hunger so would be happy to eat tiny portions but that’s not what I am being required to do I would prefer to use this time to maximize the weight loss.
  9. Good morning i had my sleeve back in 2014 and lost 60% of my excess weight . So nowhere near “my” target. Over that 4 years , I was careful recording food and disciplined about protein , then veg etc but despite being about 1400 calories daily, I just did not lose the balance. I am 5 ft tall ( just) because of GERD, I had revision to bypass 8 weeks ago. The surgery has successfully resolved that , thank goodness i am now eating about 700 calories a day with 60-70 g of protein but the weight loss is still really slow. In 2 months, i have lost 16 pounds. What is the experience of others who had revision? thanks for your input

    Pain in my stomach. Help!

Hi i have had a pain across my abdomen since two weeks after the surgery, so that’s for 4 weeks now it is about 4 inches below the surgery incisions is that where yours is? i went to see my hospital team and they were worried about a lot of potential serious issues and did a thorough check in the end no solution, but equally none of the ugly possibilities were found i would recommend going to your team for a check out all the best
  11. I had surgery to remove my gall bladder and revise my sleeve to a bypass on 23rd January my surgeons profile is soft food from day 3, with which I have coped well I started experiencing about a week ago a severe and constant pain on my left side about 6 inches below the major incision .on the left side . The acute area of pain is about 4 inches long but when bad , the pain radiates to my back. Assuming it was constipation, i got some serious laxatives from the doctor . Things starting moving and the pain was less but still niggling. 24 hours later it is as bad as it ever was. I don’t have fever has anyone else experienced this please or have any suggestions / advice. i have a Hospital follow up next Thursday. Is it safe to wait until then? i would appreciate any feedback. Thank you
  12. Thanks all for taking the time to feedback very helpful
  13. Morning! so, I am eating tiny bites and putting fork down while I chew. I have small portions however, I am still only taking about 8 minutes to eat any suggestions as to how to slow down further? also, what is your “full” feeling? so far, all I have been able to discern is a tightness in the middle of my back level with my bra strap thanks for help Christine

    Green Smoothies

Hello! Most advice I’ve seen is to have a maximum of 10g of sugar per serving. Under 5g is preferable now there is some dispute about fruit sugars and whether fructose is under same guidelines as added sugar but in a smoothie most of fiber been blitzed so maybe play on the safe side best

    Cons?

Hi there i had sleeve. No previous GERD before, but had long term issues after , so converted to bypass. So two surgeries instead of one. I have seen online advice not to have sleeve if you already have GERD, but never info that sleeve can cause serious GERD. I used to wake up in night with acid filling my nose and throat. Really horrid and not good healthwise before First surgery I had no gallstones. 4 years later, had to have gall bladder out with the most ridiculous number of stones largely because of the fast weight loss but no life threatening issues . I think like a lot of things, statistics are based on historic info. In reality, surgery is constantly improving as surgeons gain experience. Check your surgeons record is my best advice
