  1. Hidradenitis suppurativa is where you have infected sweat glands in your groin or underarm area. I was wondering if someone with this condition has had the surgery and if so if their conditions improve due to the surgery.

    Thanks!

    Tina

    Yes!

I've had persistant Hidradenitis Supporativa for years (about 20 now)' date=' which had been almost always active, including now.

Had Sleeve surgery 6 days ago. One infected area is completely dry and the 'bad' area under my armpit is oozing alot less puss. I have a feeling it will close up by itself soon.

To be honest I'm kind of shocked, did not expect this to almost cure up entirely in a week.

In case it goes away entirely I'd let you know. For now theres like 80% improvement![/quote']

Thanks for the response. Mine isn't bad and only flairs up every once in awhile. Hopefully it won't happen at all once the weight is lost. Glad to hear you'd is already getting better. Good luck!

  2. I have the empty gurgle noise when I feel hungry and once I feel like I have eaten enough I get the hiccups. That is so strange. My eyes are bigger than my stomach' date=' lol. I actually had tacos for dinner last night and I had three bites and was done. Then had three this morning and still had three bites left. I am really seeing what my tummy can hold and it does not seem like much. It is still hard to get so many meals in but really trying hard.[/quote']

I am the exact same way. The hiccups are weird but a good indicator

  3. Hi I had surgery on 8/29/13 highest weight 287. Day of surgery weight 269' date=' today I'm 262. Not sure if I'm losing weight fast enough. Is anyone else also a slow loser??? Good thing total weight lost with preop diet is a total of 25 pounds. Since surgery only 7 pounds.[/quote']

I am the same way, have been stuck. On one hand it's very frustrating but on the other I keep thinking I want a slower weight loss to help with the skin flexibility.

  4. I had surgery the 20th and only spent a night in the hospital. Slept the first week. Doctor put me on pureed that Friday, started on soft that Monday (one week). Was worried about it bit didn't have any pains.

I do have a couple of issues, one being gas. I still get a lot of gas and it comes up when I eat or drink. Very anything but not painful.

Second issue is I feel like I can eat more than I should so it almost feels like I didn't have surgery. It doesn't help that I've already stalled even though I'm donning enough Water and being my Protein in. This part is the most frustrating. I almost wish the doc had kept me on fluids longer.

  5. My surgery is tomorrow at 9. I'm really worried about what happens if something goes wrong.

One thing that helped today was sitting my clothes by size (I still had small clothes from the last time I lost a lot of weight).

It was awesome to see how I will be progressing down in size and top think about the journey to get down to where I want to be.

Good luck everyone and I hope we all are successful.

  6. My 3 favorite go-to's lately are turkey Jerky (13 grams Protein per ounce), tilapia filet (26 grams Protein per filet) and soy nuts (roughly 11 grams protein per ounce). I really try to maximize my itty bitty sleeve with the most protein I can get in. In between those I do nutriblasts (shakes with nutribullet) to get my fruits and veggies.

I thought about doing just that with my Nutribullet. I have to get some veggies in somehow and I think doing the shakes with veggies, a bit of fruit to add better flavor and some Water are the way to go. Do you have any favorite recipes?

  7. How many business days did it take for cigna to reply after paperwork was submitted?

I started this process before the 90 day rule' date=' so a bit anxious about that issue.....and it could be an issue......anxious to get approved & sleeved.....don't want to wait another month.

    Good luck![/quote']

My paperwork was sent in the 26th of June, they supposedly wrote the denial on the 4th of July, so pretty quick. I just hope the appeal is as quick.

  8. My coverage with Cigna indicates that I only need to do the weight loss management program with my PCP for a minimum of 3 months. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork to Cigna last month and they denied me on the fact that I supposedly only did 2 months of doctor supervised weight management. Here is the kicker... I actually did 5 months as I thought it required 6 months instead of the three. I am so frustrated right now about this because it's just stupid! My surgeon's office thinks we have a new person in Cigna and that they are counting the first visit as the "initial visit" which then means you have to go 4 months instead of 3. Of course in my situation that shouldn't matter as I went 5. What really frustrates me is the only good time I have to do the surgery is in August, otherwise other people are going to have to adjust their schedules for me to miss work. Hoping that this gets resolved quickly so we can still be on schedule.

All I can say is GRRRRR

  9. I have to do something due to the ultra high risk of diabetes and heart conditions that run in my family. I took a good look at the lap band because one of my best friends had it done and has had success with it. I liked that it was less permanent than the other options. The things that turned me away from it were the constant having to go fill/unfill it to get it to the right size. I was also in the AF for 9 years and have had thoughts about going into the national guard. You can't really do that with the lap band due to them not always having someone who can take care of the band for you. Can you imagine being in Iraq and needed a saline fill? Anyway, I have thought about it for a number of years, and my insurance finally approved the surgeries this year.

I think the hardest part for me will be the picky eaters I have living with me. It's already hard to eat healthy when my boyfriend won't eat most vegetables and our roommate can't stand "naked meat". It's enough to drive you crazy.

  10. I am not a food addict per se. Three things have caused me to overeat.

    1. Letting stress get to me which makes me not give a crap about eating healthy.

    2. Eating out of boredom. I eat horribly when I'm sitting home alone on the computer.

    3. Going through menopause at 32 which royally screwed up my hormones and metabolism.

Because of these things I have gotten into some bad habits that without the surgery will not get modified.

So I'm my opinion, good is not an addiction, I'm just too tired and stressed to care most days. :-)
