Yeah, traffic on LBT has slowed considerably since they initiated this new format!! I don't like it either. At least I'm getting emails now, but I used to be able to read the posts in my email. Then I'd go to the site when I was ready to respond. That's another thing I don't like.

Good evening everyone. Thought I would check in while I take in our tivo'd House. I walked with dh tonight and then when he pooped out I walked on my own. I made it 50 minutes. I want to clock it but I'm sure it was more than 3 miles.
I'm really low on cals because I was stuck most of the afternoon. I ate some rice and though it hasn't been a problem before. Today it was miserable. I had a swallow of pineapple juice and it was almost instantly better. I'm still a bit swollen. I had the kashi that gets really soft in milk and a cut up banana (it was soooo good!) for dinner and am working on more fluids.
Karri, I'm glad you saw a doctor. it sounds so much less horrible than it did a couple days ago. It is so hard to know what to do.
Phyll, your dd needs to take a pill. She needs to know how she is tearing you up inside. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Especially on her birthday. I hope you got to have something wonderful happen today in spite of the pain. You are a wonderful mother and a great grandmother. You care and you love them all. How can someone be angry about that? If she was thinking clearly she would see that you are a blessing.
There is more I want to say but can't keep a coherent thought right now so I'll let it go. Every day I think the same thing. Things I want to say to you all but I can't remember it by this time. It drives me crazy. I hope you know that most of the time there is so much going on here that I can't keep it all straight. I love you all and I think that I let you all down wrapped up in my own world. I honestly think about everything that you say and have things to say back, but just don't have the attention span to hold onto it. Damned ADHD!
Okay...it's bedtime. Have a great day tomorrow all!

Karri, Your body has undergone tremendous changes in the last year. It's wonderful that you are so determined, but at the same time, you are risking permanent dammage by pushing too hard, too fast. I think your foot injury is a sign that you need to be realistic about how much you can do. You are planning major surgery this summer. Healing from that is going to require that you be as well nourished and healthy as you can be. That's your first priority. If you push yourself to run 13K, that alone is going to deplete whatever reserve you have, and I'm a little surprised that your surgeon would even operate on you knowing that. Completing a marathon--even if you walk--is a huge first accomplishment. To me, if you have to do one or the other, I'd think run/walking the full marathon is more realistic.
Bad news today: Insurance denied my PS. They said that at minimum I have to be 18 months post-op (from the surgery they refused to pay for) and maintain my target weight for 6 months. I'll have to wait till next summer or take time off of work next winter. I'm bummed.

If you ask the perfectionist me, it will tell you that you need to try to do both. There's a big risk of failure. But Madam Perfect doesn't take that into consideration. You should push yourself.
If you ask the sensible me, it will tell you that there are other marathons. Many, many, many more to come. Miss Sensible will get herself healthy and injury free first and then reach for those past unobtainable goals that are now no longer quite so unobtainable on another day when she's 100%.
The choice is still yours sweetie, and I couldn't honestly tell you which one I would choose as I'm far too fickle.

I agree with the wls. If we don't work at it we will lose nothing. I could eat enough ice cream to pack the pounds back on but I don't and it bothers me that people think this is easy and fast with gastirc you can eat whatever you want and lose. But after awhile you put it back on because you did not change your lifestyle. Never before would I have been getting up at 4:30 in the morning to exercise. If i would have thought this process thru probably would have backed out. But I am proud of how far I have come and work and count every food I put in and what I do to take it off. I just would like them to now we are working not just sitting and losing. But nobody understands that. Anyway hope all is well with everyone today sorry for the rant. I am constantly asked why my weight has stopped it has not just getting closer to target and people don't understand.

Hello from Judie. Just have to have your mind made up for it.
I have had my band for two months now.
The best thing I ever did! Don't say it won't work!
I lost 19lbs the first month. Then the next month 14 lbs.
The main thing is to eat slowwwly, and exercise when you are
able to, then sit back and see how amazing you will look and feel!
    Take care

Yeah I finished....:frown3::grouphug: and in record time for me!!!! Normally it takes me about 40 minutes to run 3.1 miles. Today it only took 34:30. I was so stoked when I saw the finish line and the timer. DH took pictures of me running and crossing the finish line. I will post them later tonight. We are going to back to the store and getting me another pair of the cheap shoes. They worked wonderfully today. I woke up with pretty serious pain in my right foot, but once I put the shoes on and started running it went away. I am going to take back the more expensive pair. That way I still have 2 pairs, but for less then the price of the 1! I am a bargain shopper!
Also I think I am going to look into getting a Body Bugg. I know that most of the time they are used to help you lose weight, but I really think for me it is going to be most important for maintaining. We will see though. They are pretty expensive, but I am going to try and find one on ebay that I can afford.
Well I will chat with you later, we seem to be ready to head out!

The LAP BAND will help you control PORTION size... it will not eliminate HEAD hunger or EMOTIONAL eation... That is a whole different kettle of fish!
You need to really be sure you want to do this, you will have to work on your Emotional Issues, ie boredom eating, stress eating.. poor choice of food eating.
You must school yourself in High Quality foods and eat them. Then the band will tell you when you are full.
BUT, please be aware that if you choose something like chocolate or JUNK food, it goes right thru the band... trust me on this...
You will still have to obstain from junk food, sugar etc.
Don't mean to be a bummer, but its what you need to know:rolleyes2:

we heard earlier tonight from a couple of friends they had heard that we would be over $5 by the end of the summer as well. Told hubby tonight that maybe I should by a scooter. We live 10 miles away from anything. Gas stations, stores or anything so we have to drive at least 20 miles round trip if we need anything or want to go any where. Oh well we can't change it. Just frustrating.

Here's something that sounds good.... just leave out the spaghetti or substitute something else.
    Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups Swanson® chicken broth (regular, Natural Goodness™ or Certified Organic)
    1 tsp. garlic powder
2 cans (about 14 1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes with Italian herbs
12 oz. mushrooms, cut in half (about 4 cups)
2 large onions, chopped (about 2 cups)
3 lb. chicken parts, skin removed
    Hot cooked spaghetti
    Directions:
Mix the broth, garlic powder, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions in a 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. Add the chicken and turn to coat.

Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours* or until the chicken is cooked through. Serve with the spaghetti.

*Or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.

For thicker sauce, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of Water in a small bowl. Remove the chicken from the cooker. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the cooker. Turn the heat to HIGH. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until the mixture boils and thickens.

    Serves 6.
