  1. Congratulations, Trish!! So glad to see you have a surgery date! Our July calendar is certainly filling up. So good to be able to support each other. I see you are in my age group! That's encouraging to me, too, since most are younger than us.
  2. Shopping?? I could go for that addiction!! At the moment, my addictive personality has become addicted to this website. I have my laptop on a tv table next to my recliner in the living room, always on, always checking to see if there are any new posts on the threads I've subscribed to.... about 15 of them!!?? do you think I need help???
  3. Breadlady, We miss you, too, and are glad to get your updates. Congratulations on the 14 lb.!! Anxious to see you update your ticker! Sounds like you are enjoying the sunshine and the lake. Chimboree, your bracelet is beautiful. I ordered one at MedicAlert, but its just stainless steel.. its okay, but not as pretty as yours and its way too big for my wrist, so I'll have to have some links taken out. I may be big, but my feet, ankles, hands and wrists are very small in proportion. I was meant to be a petite person!! I'm sticking pretty close to my under 500 cal. diet, but the scale has not gone down this week at all and its very discouraging. And I've been very hungry this week... not so bad today, though. At least not yet this morning! Its exciting to see all our July dates coming up! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  4. Wow! July is filling up!! I printed the calendar a couple of days ago but now so many have been added I to print it again. Thanks for keeping that up to date, Chimboree! Dini, Hope you are feeling better by now! So sorry you had such a negative experience so far. Indiogirl, how are you doing with the smoking? We're cheering for you! 'm struggling with my pre-op diet. I've been very hungry for the past two days and the scale is not moving which makes it even more frustrating I am thinking of trying to switch to Adkins for a few days. I've lost 20 lb. but the dr. wants me to lose 10 more before surgery. I
  5. Wadew1976, Hope you had a better day today. Noticed you are in Everett WA, too. I am being banded 7/20 at Virginia Mason, Seattle,Dr. Jeffrey Hunter.
  6. Congratulations, Jacki!! cOME OVER TO THE jULY Lucky # 7's thread and get your name on the July calendar. :whoo:
  7. Breadlady, I had to giggle at your internet dilemma. My husband and I once drove around Bullhead City AZ, laptop turned on and searching, until we found an open network outside a real estate office. We camped in their parking lot while we got online and downloaded our email and uploaded some photos! so it brought back memories of an RV trip to AZ a couple of years ago! I say, if they leave it open and unprotected, go for it! All of you having trouble uploading photo and configuring your tickers, I wish I could reach in to your computers and help you! I LOVE doing that techy stuff.
  8. Dini, We're all keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. You are just a few hours from surgery now! That's exciting. In 25 more days I have my turn! We'll be waiting to hear how you're doing. I am in my 3rd week of pre-op diet trying to lose 30 lb. A little under 10 lb. to go. I want a little "BREAK" from this 500 cal diet to enjoy a few treats before surgery!
  9. Valzie, You have to paste the bbCode & not the HTML code for this site.
  10. Glad I could help, Mimey. FYI.... one way to email or send a private message to someone on this site is to click on the underlined screen name on their post. If they've entered an email address, that's where you'll be able to make a contact.
  11. That's great!! I knew you could do it!!
  12. Sorry, I can't resist trying to help with the techy stuff!! If I'd been born about 20 years later than I was, I probably would've been working in the computer world instead of nursing! LAINY: My post of last night on this board, 6:40 pm, gives some instructions on setting up the ticker at tickerfactory.com. Get back to me if you are still having trouble. They're fun, aren't they? MARCY: I'm not sure about including photos in your post... don't know if that's possible, but if you go to "Gallery" in the top menu, and then "Upload", you can upload your photos & then just let us know they are there so we can go view them. :ranger:
  13. Hi, I see you're still having trouble with the ticker. Will try to help with clearer directions. Go to TickerFactory.com to build your ticker... if you click on that address in anyone's signature, your browser should take you to the site. After you configure it just the way you want it & click on "Next", you will see boxes on the right with differet types of "code" to paste in to your signature. Highlight & right click on the one in the "bbCode" box & choose "copy". Then come back to this site, click on "UserCP" at the top of the page & choose "edit signature". When the box opens up to your signature, put your cursor in the Edit box & right click again, choose "paste" & then preview the signature & see if it looks right. If so, click on save & you should be in business! Hope it works for you. It took me a few times to figure it out.

  15. tickerfactory.com is where you can build your ticker.. Then copy the bbCode when you're done & paste it in to your signature on this site. It'll ask you to set up a password so you can update from time to time. Then everytime you update on the tickerfactory site, it automatically updates your signature on this site. Pretty cool! I am sick & tired of my pre-op diet too. I am soooo hungry!! Last night I was dreaming about eating mushy beef burritos, & I'm not even that crazy about burritos!! HELP!!
  16. Good report, Breadlady. Encouraging that you were able to do all that so soon after surgery. I've wondered where everyone is today, too! Sitting here bored & depressed, watching bad TV. Not many in the chat room either.
  17. Right click on the bbCode, choose "Copy" & then come to this site & edit your signature, pasting the code in where you want it to appear.
  18. Trish, When you paste the ticker into your signature, use thr bbCode and not the HTML. Once you get it in there, every time you go back to the site to update your ticker, it automatically updates it on yout signature.
  19. Hi, Mimey, Are you in the USA?? If so, here is a website for finding bariatric surgeons: American Society for Bariatric Surgery I would definitely get another opinion & find another surgeon.
  20. Ditto for me, Chimboree!! An email penpal of mine who is also going to be banded soon directed me to this site & I am so grateful!! I've learned so much already & feel I'm so much better prepared for what is coming. Everyone is so supportive and caring!
  21. Thanks, Breadlady. This is a great idea. And I'm so glad to hear your post-op is going so well. I will have to be sure & get some liquid Tylenol, and I want to get some liquid Vitamins. Wonder if I can find liquid Calcium??? I'm getting excited... my surgery is 4 weeks from today. Saw my primary care doc today & she is soooooo supportive. Printed me out a 12 page article geared towards physicians's care of post bariatric surgery patients. Excellent info, especially regarding nutrition. I'm still reading! And whomever shared that about the medical i.d. bracelet... good idea. I ordered one, too.
  22. Hey, weather was okay after all!! In fact, it turned out to be a beautiful day. did you get to go to Snoqualmie??
  23. Hi, Anni, When the surgeon's office told me I had to lose 10% of my body weight before they'd schedule me for surgery I knew I had to do something drastic. So I've been having a Protein drink in the morning & then mostly veggies & fruits the rest of the day, and strictly low carb. I've only had strawberries & pineapple. Veggies I've been eating are asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, french style green Beans. I did have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese today for lunch & 1 oz. of ground turkey at dinner, but I don't usually eat any meat or cheese at all. My husband & I are retired & he likes to do all the cooking, so that makes it easier on me. Tonight we had our daughter & son-in-law for dinner. So he made spaghetti for them, but he made mine separate... my fake spaghetti. He browned my 1 oz of ground turkey with some garlic & onion, added 1/2 cup of canned diced tomatoes, low sodium, Italian style, & served it over 1/2 cup of fresh steamed french style green beans. Really pretty yummy & very low cal. Will undoubtedly have to cut down the amounts after banding. It all fit on a little saucer, but probably more than I'll be able to eat after surgery.
  24. How did the visit with the shrink go, IndioGirl??
  25. IndioGirl, Alaska probably sounds pretty good to you today, huh? 112 degrees!! Looks like one of our Sky Valley friends called when we were gone today. Probably trying to set up there summer escape itinerary!! I will be happy to find a desert support group when we come down for the winter. That'll be great!
