    Ordering at restaurants?

Ask for a box when your meal comes and pack up half before you even start eating. Your stomach will tell you when you can't eat anymore.

    Sleeve vs. lapband

Sleeve all the way. Too much maintenance with lapband and too much reroutung with bypass. I'm two months out and eating normally, just not as much. Loving the results.

    Annoyed with PCP

My dr was very supportive but I did have to "educate " her and she asked a lot of questions to be sure I was ready. I haven't seen her since my surgery 4/9 and I have An appt this week. Can't wait to see her reaction!! For those whose drs. are against the surgery, shop around !!! It's so worth it!
  8. I've was sleeved 4/9 and since I found this website I have been trying to post the positive things I've experienced. I realize that everyone's surgery is different, and that everyone feels differently afterwards, but I hope each day gets a little better until one day you realize you feel great, have lots if energy, and are losing more weight than you've ever lost before. Each day I can walk farther, I'm down two clothes sizes And i I can cross my legs when I sit down. I try to celebrate the little things. My scale doesn't move for a few days, And then suddenly I'm down 2-3 pounds. My nutritionist helps a lot, too. For those that are having surgery, my experience is the norm. Not the exception. Just do it!

    Hernia

Your dr should take an upper Gi X-ray before your surgery. They should see the hernia and will repair it.

    Scars

Try propolis balm (bees wax) and/or vitamin e. Rub the scars to break up the keloids.
  12. Sleeved. 4/9. I was dizzy too. Dr. Reduced my blood pressure meds and told me to drink more water. That and stall are very common. Hang in.

    Feeling TOO good after surgery?

I was sleeved April 9 and I had a great recovery. Tolerated all foods and shakes, no pain, went back to work after 2 weeks. Have lost 20 lbs. Stay positive and you'll do great.
  14. Had my surgery April 9. Saw my Dr. yesterday. I've been in soft for 10 days and he said I could start regular diet. Everyone is different. But I've been tolerating Everything pretty well. Keep track of protein and carbs. I've lost 20 lbs. since surgery, 50 altogether. Very happy with results and no complications.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

I hope there are some out there that had the experience I had. No pre-op liquid diet, very little pain, no drains, a little nausea in hosp., eating full liquid in the hospital and Dr said I could start purée as tolerated. It'll be 4 weeks on Tuesday, my birthday, and I started soft diet last week. So far tolerating everything. No problem with liquids and I like the GNC premade protein shakes. Basically I feel great. Lost 16 pounds, in a bit of a stall at week 3, but I'm staying positive and optimistic. Keep yourself busy, go out with friends who will be encouraging, and remember why you did this in the first place. I'm already off half my meds.

    Sleeve on 4/23/2013

I'm 3 weeks post- op and started soft diet. I had a my first scrambled egg today. The weeks will go by quickly. Don't rush into anything. But talk to your dietitian. You'll be happier in a few weeks.
  19. I'm 3 weeks post- op and I'm having the same issue. I've lost a total of 45 including pre- op diet, but barely anything this week. The dietitian told me to make sure I was getting up to 1000-1200 calories. I don't know how you can do that when you're only eating 1/2 c of food per meal. I'm on soft diet and really enjoying adding real food. I'm hoping this will kick start my metabolism.

    panniculectomy

After you document the sores and infections use Ammens medicated powder for relief. I used it before my surgery. And my dr said I could use it now.

    Happy or...huh?

Danelle235 Please meet with your surgeon before your surgery. It will help a lot. Go to support groups, too. I think everyone gets nervous. The trick is be prepared with everything you need post-op; food, supplements, Protein shakes, etc. I'm a week out (April 9) and feeling great. No regrets. But I did go in with the mind set that this will be the first day of the rest of my life, and it has to be different.

    Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

Mixed ricotta cheese with puréed creamed spinach. It was like the filling of a spinach lasagna.
