  1. Hey Everyone, So its official... I started my Pre-Op Diet today..Boo:( It sucks because surgery isn't till September/October(its going to be in the first week of one of those months) I am required by my PCP to start a diet because I have high tryglycerides(lipid levels) and my cholesterol levels are up a bit. Sadly the diet he wants me on, is the exact same diet I am required to do for Pre-OP... 2 shakes + 8oz lean Protein and 4 cups veggies. He did say I could have 1 cup of low glycemic berries if i felt it was absoloutly necessary...but he said he would prefer me to eat veggies over fruit( of course ) This diet that I have to start today, i have been on many times before and each time I have done it, i have failed. One time I managed to lose 40 pounds in 3 months..but I felt like I was starving all the time even though I was in Ketosis. I just felt so hungry.. I don't like living off of shakes..especially the Premier Protein ones..Everyone seems to think they taste like a chocolate milkshake and I think thats nuts...It tastes awful to me.. So fake tasting and the artificial sweetner(yuck!) So i am stuck with the Premier one's because that is all we have available until I go down island to a GNC or health food store that carries other shakes. I plan on trying the Isopure and if that is no good, I will order me some Syntrax samples... It is just so flipping hard to be on a diet. I break down and cry lots when on a diet. I feel miserable most of the time...it's not fun! If i could do a diet long term, i wouldn't need this surgery..What makes Dr.s think you can stick to a diet before that??? Anywho...weighed in a 312 pounds... Im 6ft... I hope to be down to 270 by the day of surgery. Anyone else?
  2. So I am self-pay and I am afraid I am not going to make it to September/October. I am supposed to be on a doctor monitor diet because of my high triglyceride levels and my cholesterol being up a little. I have a lot of weight to lose..But still...I feel like I am never going to get to surgery for one reason or another: either my passport won't arrive on time or I won't end up having enough money or I will die of sudden death one day before I even have a chance to live a new life in a healthy body. I am so sick of dealing with all these health issues. I am sick of being morbidly obese and having Fibromyalgia and being too exhausted...oh and the sweating..dont get me started on that... It is no fun being hot and sweaty all day every day... Why does waiting have to be so hard and take so long and seem so impossible...? (Sigh)
  3. You totally expressed how I feel. I am supposed to be on a Pre-Op diet till Sept/October..still haven't finalized the date yet..but I keep on having a food funeral... I say "hey I am going to start today" and then I fail and have to start all over again. I feel so hungry on the Pre-Op diet! Arghh!
  4. Ive been going back and forth..for example: was dieting low calorie low carb..then discovered weight loss surgery...then started to go through a food funeral for a month then doctor stuck me on low fat low carb because of my cholesterol being up...then been bingeing...so im all over the map...not sure what im going to do...each time i try to get back on my diet...i end up saying "screw it" cause i know im going to fail again and again and again
  5. I have had an experience in which my friends son who is 4-rubbed my belly one day and said i had a baby in there...i smiled and explained that i did not..it was my tummy.. However i have been guilty of making someone feel bad about their weight.... at church there was a women and i was talking to her about work and she told me she was taking a leave of absence and i said "oh your going on maternity leave? When are you due?" ...She looked at me and said "im not pregnant" and walked away. I clearly insulted her..i felt so bad..especially now that i look like im pregnant. If someone dares to ask me if i am pregnant ..i am going to say "why yes i am..six months to be exact..im totally showing right?" And then just walk away... People can think whatever they want to think..so let them
  6. Hey All.. My surgery isn't till October, but I just found out that my hubby wont be able to accompany me.. So i will be going ALONE!!!! Its freaking me out..considering that the furtherst I have travelled is Colorado. So i was wondering if anyone can share there experience of travelling alone to TJ and going to Mi Doctor. What was a single room like in the hospital? Did you have a call bell if you needed a nurse? 'Im really worried about being alone!
  7. Wow! You look incredible!! This gives me hope
  8. Oh...only 4 months till october...so nervous about the idea of flying
  9. There are natural ginger gravol pills...there is ginger tea...that works great for the tummy along with a tiny spoon of honey...there is also ginger you can buy in the store...and there should be chewable dyhminidride tabs in a drug store or sea sickness pills
  10. Lucky ducks...im stuck on the pre-op diet for the next 3.5 months...i was only supposed to be on it for two weeks prior to durgery but my blood tests came back showing high lipids in the body and forced me onto a Dr. Prescribed diet till surgery I made it 1 day and then failed today....I dont know how i am going to survive for 3.5 months???? So looooong
  11. Well i thought 600mg of gabapentin was helping but i was wrong..im going to try a higher dosage..so far T3s are what dull it out enough...its bad..just about ended up in hospital ER cause my pain gives me lots of migranes..
  12. Im on gabopentin for fibromyalgia...the pain i have every day is unbelievable...i get migranes almost every day and pain in my major joints and muscles and the fatigue just makes me so exhausted after only being awake for a couple of hours...sigh...i cant imagine the pain you all go throughwith RA...im thankful i dont have that
  13. Oookay. I weight 302 pounds and I am almost 6 feet tall..giver or take 3/4s of an inch... Which is abnormally tall for a women right? Yah.. i thought so too.. Anyway.. just wondering if their is any success stories from women(sorry men! you lose faster then women, not a good comparison) I want to know how possible it is to attain a goal of being ...smaller... i guess... Please share photos too!
  14. So i was all happy since January.. I haven't had to worry much about losing weight. I am having surgery in October and so i figured "Eat the foods you wont be eating in awhile...sushi for example..(the kind with rice) or cake or ________(insert food here) So anyway... I saw my Dr. the other day because I have been having lots of nerve pains and they ended up diagnosing me with Fibromyalgia and the Dr. had to run a bunch of blood tests prior to that, to rule out everything else... Well..he did a full blood panel..and for the first time ever in my life..Out of being obese for my whole life...he now tells me that I have high cholesterol and my triglyceride levels are double that of a normal persons...meaning" there's a lot of fat in my blood" ... So... he ordered me to go on a low carb high Protein 2 shake/ lean and green meal... with 1 cup of berries and 2tsp of low fat dressing... And I'm like "RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" That's the diet i have to do 2 weeks prior to surgery....and now I have to be on that for...4 months!!!!! He is going to re-test me in a month! Yayyyyy NOT! Anyone else have issues and have to go on a diet before their pre-op diet? How am i going to survive?????
  15. Hi!my surgery isnt till october but im from Bc Canada..i live in port hardy on the north end of the island..you?
  16. I'm having a hard time. When I first started doing my research into surgery and options with getting it. I was feeling rather defeated. I knew it would be 4 or 5 years before I would be able to get a surgery if I chose to have it paid by insurance. That't just how long the wait list is , here in BC, Canada So i checked out this whole "self-pay" thing. I thought..okay..if i just put a little money away every so often, then I can afford it. Well, the surgery is almost paid for..so whats the problem? Well, all of the sudden, I have been feeling guilty. I have been thinking about how that is $5000 just for the surgery and then flights on top of it..so 6,200$ and its like...that's a lot of money to spend on myself, my own well-being. I keep thinking how that money could fix our trailer that is currently molding on the inside of the walls. I keep thinking that's money we could use to pay off are debt so instead of being in debt by 34,000$, It could be less than $30, 000. Or i could pay a lot of my student loan off for school that I am doing right now. Why does it feel so selfish of me? I don't know. Perhaps because I feel like its my fault that I got this way. I did this to myself. I know its not the way God made me. Its the way i made myself. Maybe living with all this fat, is just my punishment for all my stupid choices I made and every decision I made to NOT take care of myself. I feel like I haven't taken care of myself much at all. Now, when it seems like I have the choice to make it about taking care of myself and putting myself first in front of my husband and my daughter, why, do i feel guilty? Tell me someone, that I am not the only one who goes this. Tell me that it gets better or goes away. Tell me that its the right decision...tell me something..because I don't know what to do. Is this normal? Does everyone feel guilt when they have to pay for it themself?
  17. Okay..so i get it... I know you are supposed to have full fluids..but why soup? isn't there too much carbs in soup?? same with mashed potatoes?
  18. I wonder about this..because my Doctor tells me that recovery is better, the smaller you are. So he suggests trying to lose as much weight as possible. Of course, if you are like me..its not just losing weight thats hard..its keeping it off too..but really..without a tiny tummy, its sooo hard to live off of shakes forever... I just worry... i feel like as I am waiting for surgery, I am getting fatter.
  19. Yes, yes... I know i just said October..but that was the soonest I could do the surgery due to my husband's work schedule. Is there anyone else scheduled far ahead like me? It would be nice to talk to others while waiting...such a looooong wait..I mean..not as bad compared to a 5 year wait out here in Canada when covered by Insurance. Someone talk to me before i lose my marbles!
  20. Anyone else looking into starting a pre-pre-op diet? Can October please come faster so I can start a new life???? This is depressing...I cant stand being so heavy..every step hurts to take... Anyone self-pay Mexico?
  21. Yes...Well..keep in mind, you might not get pregnant right away..so if you are scheduled for a date in May 2014 and you end up getting pregnant later then you expect..you can mess up your date for surgery. Are you willing to take that risk?
  22. Maybe its possible your scale isnt seeing a huge loss because you are doing weights and so your building muscle mass and ultimately you are storing excess glycogen in your muscles from your workouts which results in water weight on the scale..A lot of people that work out don't see greater drops for a few months when they start working out with weights. It takes your body time to adjust to the workout before your muscles start losing the water
  23. Hey All.. So i have a concern regarding getting sleeved. I take EffexcorXR 225 mg ..Its a capsule with beads in it and apparently you arent supposed to open it up and take it. You are supposed to take it whole. So how am i going to be able to take it the evening of my surgery date? I cant miss a dose because the withdrawl from it is insane. I will get very sick if I miss a dose..so what do you do? I also take 2 sleeping pills but those can be crushed..so I am not as concerned about those.
  24. I used to be a walking pharmacy... I have been on Celexa and Wellbutrin, Risperidone, Immopromene... All of them had effects on my body that were not tolerable for me. I am now on Effexcor..and oooohhh man..what a difference.. I have gotten the best results from it..but you cant quit cold turkey ...you have to move down .5 of a dosage if you want to get off of it, because if you miss one dose..you get really bad withrawl symptoms that are said to be much like a herroin addict withdrawing... I hear other people say that they gain weight on Effexcor, I never did..and I love it..oh and I also take Trazadone!! To help me Zzzzz
  25. Hi! Welcome! Glad to see I am not the only one stuck in the waiting period.. Thats awesome you will have your spouse doing it to..you can make changes together!
