I am buying only a few things at a time until I reach my desired weight. When I cleared out my entire wardrobe I was ashamed of all the clothes I had! I had so many clothes in all colors. I won't do that again. It was wasteful. I can shop now in regular stores, where I cried the first time I stepped into the fitting room.

I now shop in the regular womens dept. I never realized all the choices you have when you are XL and smaller. Been in the plus size dept for 44 years. So this is so new and fun.

I'm two weeks post-op and I've lost a few inches - 3 on my bust, and 2 each on my waist and hips. I went bra shopping and found that I'd gone from a 42G with an extender to a perfect 40F in a minimizer. And the best part of all is that it's so pretty! I also bought a button-down shirt that actually fits great. It makes such a huge difference in showing off the weight loss, don't you think? What did you buy?

I'm only a month out but sometimes I can eat like 6-7ozs of something and then the next meal I am full to the brim after 3 ozs. I also notice that some days I am very aware of when my stomach is empty (what I call hungry) and other days I have to remind myself eat because I don't even notice my stomach. I think that the slower I eat the more I can consume and if I eat fast I fill up faster and stay full longer, although it is an uncomfortable full feeling. Anyway, I don't know why it is so day to day for all of us but I don't think you are alone!

I had my surgery on Nov 13 , 2012 and only in the last 3 months or so , I have had the same feeling as you . Now that i can tolarate more food , I also find myself eating more, craving sweets and when I am moody craving salty stuff like cashews . I have lost about 57 lbs , and happy about it .... but for about 2 months the scale has not moved an inch, holding at 180 lbs. and at this point I am getting worried.

Wow! Assume much? I work full-time teaching, have 4 kids which requires me to be at either the soccer fields or football fields 4 days/week usually chasing my 2yr-old, church 2/wk, finishing my Master's, cub scouts every wk, n I have my own business. i'm VERY active n assumed i would lose a bunch going from recovery to full-on life, but no. Plz remember EVERY body IS different. I'm looking for others in my situation who may be able to offer insight. Ur comment was simply judgemental.

I've been a slow loser too, only 28lbs sice 3/8/13. But, I dropped my carbs to around 30 and have lost 11lbs in 11 days!!! I am ecstatic !! Until the I'd only lost 17lbs with a 4wk long stall...thanking God every day! I thought I'd stopped losing forever. I thought the weight would just fall off too....

Yes..if you drop the calories too much will lead to trouble. Sometimes I up them for a day and somehow it kicks in a drop. Increase exercise!

I kind of hold being a "slow loser" as proof that this surgery was really necessary for me. I'm eating 850-1050 ultra low carb (less than 20 net carbs) calories a day, with an active job on my feet 7 days a week plus extra exercise and losing 1-2 pounds a week right now.
I am just over two months out and down 24 pounds from surgery day and 94 pounds from my highest weight. In the past I would have grown so frustrated and given up by now.. But now, I can be more patient because I'm not STARVING AND MISERABLE.

Um, no, don't drop your calories. You may be eating too little, although for how far out you are, it seems about right. Dropping them to 500 will seriously f- up your metabolism, not to mention it's not healthy. I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and I am losing.

Try lowering your calories. I know everyone is different, but at six weeks out I was only getting in between 400 - 500 calories. What are you eating? I still don't get hungry, I get an empty feeling, I call it my new hunger, but no 'OMG, I'm starving' - not ever.....so eating very little was easy in the beginning, over time I could/would eat more, but during my losing stage, never over 800 and that was the last month and not every day. To maintain I get in 1300 calories a day and the only way I can get that much in, unless I started eating a lot of stuff I shouldn't, is by adding in a few snacks every day......graham crackers, sliced ham, an additional glass of skim milk. I cut out cheese and nuts as snack items, too high in calories! I feel like I've gone back to grazing, but that is the only way I can get in enough calories. I drop back to 1200, and I'll lose. Slowly but surely, but I do lose. There is a fine line and we all have to find where ours is. Good luck!!!

I agree, we hear stories of 80#s in 4 months and think that must be the way it should be for anyone willing to go through such a big change. Nope. I am not a month out yet but can already tell that clothes wont be falling off me at any point soon. It really is about the journey more than the destination though, or at least that is what I am trying to convince myself of now. I try to remember how many years it took to pack on the weight which is a much easier task. Good luck embracing your journey!

I actually knew that wls is not a magical cure. I did know that I didn't need all the food I was eating post opt and that the weight would come off sooner or later. I know that this is not the easiest journey for us. we are learning new eating habits and changing our life styles and reaping the benefits of good health, less medications, and we do eventually lose weight and become skinny and sexy. I believe it's all worth it in the end. I wasn't the quickest loser and at times, I was at a stand still and stalled and it did drive me crazy for awhile. But I noticed that I was losing inches during those periods and that became more important than lbs coming off.... You will reach the end result and love it...........

I am a slow "looser" as well ( 1#/wk) but whwn I get discouraged or anxious, I try to think of the many yrs that it took me to get those dreadful pounds and also I know that my body needs to adjust to the weight loss. Loosing 1 pound/week takes soem careful planning, consider hidrating your skin to adjust to the change, condition your muscles and bones to support your new shape and concentrate on changing "those habits", honestly, once you divert you focus on making these "lifestyle adjustments" you will find it easier to wait for the pounds to come off. Don't get me wrong, I have not nailed it yet but I do refocus everytime my wt scale OCD kicks in!

I am very lucky and have lost a lot since my pre surgery diet. After reading the big book they calculate a 2-3 year goal for ultimate weight loss. Hang in there your body is going through tons of changes from hormones to digestion......the weight loss will come.

It's ok as long as it is going down....that's the right direction. I am a little over 4 months out. I have lost around 49# but it has been slow....no big loss any particular week. I am ok with this. We must be patient....it will come off.

No, you are definitely not alone. I too am a slow loser - and worse, I magically gain back a few pounds without even trying. But overall, the scale slowly moves down. I try to be satisfied with that.
I think we don't hear more about slow losers because it's not really as exciting as those lucky enough to be dropping 20+ pounds per month. But I do think we are the majority.

What makes you think she's "on the couch"? Even at 360 pounds for ME exercise was NOT the problem.. the problem was in the kitchen! When someone would give me advice like "oh just walk around the neighborhood for half an hour" or my personal favorite "park in the furthest parking spot" I'd just look at them with a really confused look.... and say...."so you mean if I just park in the furthest parking spot, that will help me more than my 15 mile weekly hiking/walking schedule?"

I haven't been told I was carb sensitive but I know I am. I have committed to doing a very low carb, high protein, high fat diet for the entire month of May after losing only 3 pounds in april. I'm doing 20 net carbs (carbs minus fiber) 70-90 grams of protein and the remainder of my calories from fat.
There are a lot of folks who say "a calorie is a calorie is a calorie" but I don't feel like it is the case in my body. Give it a try, see how you lose, see how you feel.

No one told me but after a 4wk long stall, I KNOW I am!!! I cut my carbs in half, from 100 to under 50 and threw out the protein bars that a friend online called "glorified candy bars" and after making those changes on Monday, I have lost 4lbs!!! I am thrilled!!! Just goes to show we are all different and what works for one may not work for another. I had tried exercising more, upping my calories, counting points (WW), and the scales did not move one pound during April!! Hang in there, u will find what works for you...keep your chin up and keep the faith that this will work!!
