raspberry.beth reacted to SuzyB in I'm afraid that psych eval will deny me
I do not think it is just a money making scheme. In fact it costs the insurance company money to have it done. They want to make sure you will be as successful as possible. So many times, I have read people have some magical thinking about what surgery will do for them. IT will get them a boyfriend/ girlfriend, a better job, etc. Surgery will only make your stomach smaller. Your head has to be in the right place to make the changes that allow you to lose weight.

raspberry.beth got a reaction from Pixie Dust in I'm getting sleeved but my partner isnt. Anyone have this situation?
I wish you both luck and health! My partner decided that she was going to lose, partially for her health and partially because I am not telling anyone about the surgery. So her thought was that she could tell people we are working really hard together. Four months later, I am down nearly 70 pounds. This would be impossible for her to keep up with, but it is also easier for her to slide. She has the option of a soda or a biscuit at dinner. I have this amazing tool that helps keep me in check. But, overall, she has been incredibly supportive and this has been a great journey to have with her.

raspberry.beth got a reaction from Hnybear5150 in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Anyone?
I should be having my sleeve in May. IIH was the deciding factor for me, I am really hoping that this is what it takes to have pain free days again.

Yes, I'm slow and late to the show but I'm loving that VST has a place for LGBTQ members! How awesome! I noticed it's a little quiet, but that's okay, because it EXISTS...YAY!

raspberry.beth got a reaction from Deenurse in Let's get to know each other, shall we?
I am Beth, totally new to the site. I am 28, and the biggest reason I am doing this is because I have been suffering for a long time with Intracranial Hypertension, which causes some really awful neurological side effects. I am also looking forward to leading a healthier life, and hopefully avoiding the diabetes and heart disease that plagues the women in my family.
I haven't told anyone except for my family that I am having the sleeve done. I am waiting for my date right now , all I know is that it will be in May!
I am feeling so much excitement as it creeps closer.
I wish everyone luck!
