    Does anyone regret their surgery?

@@Elen If you read what I wrote, you would recognize that I don't care if you were talking about ME or not. Many people took the time to answer your question and you belittled them for it (unfairly, in my opinion). Their regrets were genuine and didn't at all take away from the "reality" of the question. It's ludicrous to think that every answer on a public message board is going to be crafted to fit your specific desires. Good luck with your surgery!

Oh, huh. I was your first response. Sorry (not sorry) it wasn't up to your standards.

    Does anyone regret their surgery?

I love it when people ask questions on a public forum and then get irritable about how well intentioned people choose to answer it. I don't think I answered, but if I did, it would have been a "I wish I'd done it sooner" response. That's not at all "patronizing, condenscending or rude" -- it's simply MY truth. Next time you pose a question, set clear parameters up front on how you'd like it answered. And then ... good luck with that objective.

Yup. But I still do it without the name calling and expletives because I am a lady.

@ Just going to throw this out there... First, I have no idea the scenerio or the players that you are referring to, so I am definitely not taking your words personally. I will tell you that I, personally, am the exact same in person as I am behind my computer. I don't curse at people, I don't call names, but I am fairly blunt and opinionated. I am not a warm and fuzzy person by nature so while my intent may be genuinely caring, some people take me as too direct or harsh. Please remember that you cannot read tone on the internet. What you want to interpret as an "attack" may well have been meant as constructive criticism. What you take as nice, might be what others take as pandering. I can honestly say that what you've communicated as your desires above on these boards would deter me. I don't always want encouragement, especially if I make a bad choice. I don't want or need "in the nicest way" because at times, I really need a kick in the pants. I prefer someone tell me how it is rather than patronize to my feelz. I rarely consider people "mean" because a stranger's words on the internet do not affect me personally. The only time they seriously p!ss me off is when they start in with name calling and personal attacks towards others. I seriously don't even care if they are calling ME names. I find that humorous and very telling of their character. We are all very different in the way we communicate AND in the way we interpret. I rarely block and I rarely report. I appreciate disagreements, banter and debate. It's how **I** learn and grow. Once it gets PERSONAL, the problem starts and the blocking begins.

Yes, I do wish it worked like FB where you can't see them and more importantly, they can't see you. I think that would stop a LOT of issues. That said, I don't click on the names of people I ignore 99% of the time. What would be the point?

    Letting go things I love

I'm three and a half years out and I have a glass of wine or two pretty regularly. I can't eat a whole sandwich, but I can usually eat most of a half if I take the top bread off, and I have a leftover half for the next day. As for pizza? I can eat a slice of thin crust, but I usually choose just to eat the toppings. and a bite of crust. I can do all of the above while wearing my size 8 skinny jeans, or a tankini at the pool without feeling self conscious. I can wear heels all day without killing my feet. I can shop at any store now and I can buy clothes off the rack without trying them on. So no, I've lost nothing but gobs of fat. The ginormous quantities of food? I don't miss that at all.

Or you're not overly sensitive and looking to be offended when you ask for justification to eat tacos 45 minutes post op. Everyone knows that it isn't safe to eat taco's 45 minutes post op; you need to wait 1 hour. That's swimming. No SWIMMING for an hour post op.

@ I was never one to ignore people until recently. I don't mind when people disagree with me, but I do mind when people start name calling (not me, but other people), cursing, attacking the person not the issue, etc. Now I have about 10 people blocked because, honestly, they are not worth the negativity they bring in to my thoughts. Scroll up to your name and a drop down menu will appear. Go to manage ignore prefs and type in the username of the person you want to ignore. It's a great thing. Take what you need and leave the rest. This really is a great forum despite a few.

yeah i don't know what i was thinking getting that flavor - i'm "iffy" about banana things in general. hate eating actual bananas (more of a texture thing) but in my fatty days loved banana bread, chocolate banana milkshakes etc. but banana yogurt is just icky! blackberry today - much better!

@ShelterDog64 -- you warm my heart. When I got older, he showed me how he made them, but it didn't translate exactly to my hands. I can do a mean banana tea bread, though, thanks to Craig Claiborne. It contains no yogurt.

@heidikat72 -- I like yogurt, but agree with you and Shelter Dog that banana doesn't work there. Maybe Lipstick Lady will throw a scrambled-eggs festival.

Complications from advancing diet too soon

Wait, whuuuuuut? Who has time to call another's surgery center to discuss their post op plans? :faint: I don't even have time to take a proper poo most days.

  15. I had surgery on Wednesday morning, I was walking the halls by 3pm with a bit of discomfort in my shoulder and back from gas, stopped pain meds on Thursday morning, home by Thursday afternoon and driving and operating as usual by Friday. The pain is manageable but walking it off is key.

What's even funnier? This isn't a special forum. It's a THREAD someone started. There are forums for PCOS, religious, LBGTQ, bikers, etc., though if one would like to go harass them!

The definition of a discussion is an exchange of ideas and opinions. A discussion doesn't mean that we all have to agree or have the same opinion.

I've got no words...I'm not one of those chew and spit food people. I just found some bread in my bag and it's been several weeks since I've had any. Never had it from Panera and I just wanted to taste it. And that vivid description came after the fact, in hindsight. I'm thinking that's what anyone witnessing it would have perceived. Sent from my iPhone You licked it, gnawed on it and then littered with it. Have you considered counseling to help you with your food urges? Yea. I'm sitting in my surgeons office now and a referral is on my questions list. Although I don't think I had a "food urge" I made conscious decision. I have a house full of food, including several types of my favorite breads. I just wanted to know what Panera breads little loaf tasted like. Geez. PS: I slowed down and tossed it into a waste drain. Sent from my iPhone The app is the point. What's the point of posting your comment? Sent from my iPhone You mentioned several food urges. Tomato soup, bread, broccoli cheddar soup... You mentioned your characteristics as being "a little bad" and "rebellious". Not at all a good idea or a smart choice when a doctor just surgically removed 80% of your stomach and you are eating foods not allowed on your healing stomach, but hey! You do you.

Safe space? Are you kidding? Nothing safe about eating off plan post op. Nothing safe about sharing the thought process that being a "little rebellious" is ok. To me, this puts all the lurkers and those doing pre-op research in a really dangerous position. You (general/plural) are giving yourself justification/permission to "cheat" "just a little". It's not cute, it's not funny (looooool) and it's not safe. No judgement. It's your body. Just offering my opinion.
