PGee got a reaction from altagirl in nearly spilled the beans....
I'm so glad I'm not alone....and kudos to those brave souls who bared it all to their loved ones. My husband knows, and one sibling.......still on the fence about telling the rest of my family....DH wanted me to discuss it with his mom who's a nurse, but as you put perfectly, I don't want people to focus on what's on my plate, how much I've lost, etc. and forbid him to mention it to his family either (yup, I'm the enforcer in the family LOL)
people are going to talk, regardless....if it's not about weight (too big, too small), it's about something else......so this is something else I'm not handing to them on a platter LOL Thank you all for your input!

I'm pre-op, and have decided to keep this to myself....went to lunch with a group of friends, including 1RNY patient, and one who is thinking about it.......they started talking about WLS, and I nearly told them what I've been up to.....would love to talk with them, but once you say the words, you can never get them back....and I'm just not ready to tell people....wish me luck, because I am not the best at keeping my mouth shut! LOL

I don't even have a date yet, and I'm apprehensive LOL But, as someone else mentioned, I am more afraid of what happens if I don't have WLS

Go to www.unjury.com .....they have a sample pack, 2 each I believe of unflavored, chicken Soup, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry sorbet...I'm not a big strawberry fan, but they suggest mixing it with 8 oz of lemonade (crystal light variety)
www.bjsbariatrics.com also has a sample pack for Syntrax nectar (you get to choose the flavors, there are quite a few....if you don't like coconut, avoid the caribbean one) They are currently out of fuzzy navel and vanilla bean, so my samples are back ordered....perhaps a 2 week delay
unjury was about $28 and BJ's Bariatric was about $20 for the sample packs.....a nice way to try out the flavors w/o investing in a huge tub of it....

I am still pre-op, getting all the appointments in to satisfy the insurance...........I have told my sister (who had an RNY) and my husband......I don't have children, and I haven't told the rest of the family, because I saw how "supportive" they were when she had her surgery.........right now don't have any plans to tell anyone at this point, but that could change........if it would help someone, then I would.
I have found when there is a major change in someone's life, people tend to focus on that, and I'd rather not have to defend my actions or have them focus on this...........good luck!

Welcome back, and congratulations............and thank you for sharing that analogy, I like it! I figured whatever exercise I could do now would only help me when I have the surgery.

We're in CT, but Dad grew up in NJ, and has friends on the shore who lost everything, After Hurricane Sandy hit, my father became a fan of Christie......I'm glad he's doing something for his health.

PGee got a reaction from Caaattt in New Here & New to VSG
    Hi all!
I'm new to the forum and am considering VSG.....I have thought about surgery for years, but have been afraid---surgery scares the heck out of me, but the future seems rather bleak if I don't get this weight off...........the big 5-0 is coming up soon, and it's unsettling.......with health concerns, I don't see getting to a healthy weight happening w/o surgery.
I had a sister and a friend who had the bypass a number of years ago, and that just isn't for me. A friend had lapband, and I would prefer not to deal with the adjustments for maintenance.
I went to the informational session last night, and meet with the surgeon next week.
The procedure is covered 100% and need to go through a 3 month period before the surgery to meet with NUT & Psy.....will find out next week what hoops I have to jump through...........I know one will be my PCP.......I'm not sure if he will be supportive.....
Thankfully, my husband of 29 years is onboard with this.
Has anyone had Cigna, and were they good to deal with for this process?
Thanks for all the helpful info posted on the forum.
