    NO ENERGY

Maybe you're just fighting off a flu bug or somethin...?

    Milestone...right!

I've heard that some people are slower out of the gate simply from the 'trauma' of surgery. I had a dental surgery last year and gained 11 lbs for no reason! It stuck around for a few weeks. Drink lots of water, get lots of sleep, visualize your dream body (there's science to this) maybe change up your foods a little (while not going over calories) and be kind to your new little tummy. hang in there! Once the weight comes off it will be gone or good!!! Worth the wait!!

    Happy or...huh?

Please be kind....Sometimes I'm really confused about how to feel about this journey. I looked into WLS options for a long time and initially was approved for Lapband, but now, a year later I'm scheduled for VSG in May instead. At first I was excited that with this 'tool' I will have an opportunity to learn to reframe my relationship with food, but now...I just feel worried. I know I have to do a lot of the mental/ emotional stuff that goes along with this...but how should I be feeling? Is it weird that maybe I'm kinda scared of losing my long-time binge/purge cycle as well as food for comfort? Am I supposed to feel happy before...or after surgery?? Hoping the happiness will kick in soon... Thanks for letting me share this with you.

    New here! Any low BMIers?

That's a good idea, I'm just not sure how to do that?
  5. I'm on may 15th and was supposed to start high Protien/ low carb diet today before liquid diet phases on the 29th- but didn't! Ack... I have to get into the right headspace.... why ia everyone's preop diets so different??
  6. I'm scheduled for surgery May 15, and starting a post op diet next week. I've really been paying attention to my eating habits over the past few weeks and didn't realize how often (all. day. long.) I eat out of boredom! What that heck am I going to do if I'm not just standing with the fridge door open after surgery?!! reality settling in... Help!!

What exactly is considered a low BMI? I currently have a BMI of 30, and I'm scheduled for surgery May 15th. Does anyone else have a BMI of 30? What were your results like?

    Happy or...huh?

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. You're absolutely right. The surgery won't make me happy in itself. I have to believe that feeling less self conscious about my weight definitely will help. I havent ever spoke to my surgeon, (and probably won't until the day of) but I did write everything down in my medical forms... so here's hoping. I know from and emotional perspective, (like all those that are travelling this road of WLS) I've got my work cut out for me!

    HUGE fight with the Hubster

I just had a huge fight with my partner over having surgery as well. I'm scheduled for VSG on May 15, have a fairly low BMI right now (as far as surgery is concerned) and I keep hearing 'if your post op diet says don't eat fried foods and candy, why don't you just stop eating fries foods and candy without the surgery! Its really not that difficult.' what am I supposed to say....she's never been overweight a day in her life.

My partner hasn't really been supportive either. My mom has been somewhat supportive because she's seen me struggle my whole life, but since I'm not currently as big as I have been in the past, they think I'm crazy for doing this. They say 'why can't you just eat normally, and you'll lose the weight.' I don't want to end up waiting until I am 40+ BMI for them to see the value of surgery.

Me too!!! I want results like that, and I have people telling me I'm crazy, but also understanding that it's not healthy to bounce around from 200 lbs to 140lbs twice a year, and I'm TIRED of the struggle. Fingers crossed!! Good luck with the surgery. Keep us posted!!

Did you have your surgery yet?

    New here! Any low BMIers?

I have a low BMI right now of 31.1 but I've lost and gained more than 500 lbs over the past 5 years, so I was approved for surgery on may 15 2013. I'm 5'2 and 170 lbs, but my goal is 120-125. What are the chances of achieving this goal with an already low BMI? Is it true you don't lose the weight?
  14. Aww!! I'm totally crying too!! Sometimes I feel kind of selfish for making the choice to risk having surgery, 'just in case' something happens. I have two little girls, and I want to see them grow up and have kids one day too! My BMI is 30, so sometimes I'm on the fence about the decision, but now the date is set and I'm going for it, and just gonna pray hard and make them a list too!
  15. My first post on here...! My date was confirmed today for May 15, 2013. Now that it's 'finalized' I'm totally freaking out..... is there a forum for pre-sleeve chickens??
