    June surgery dates

Surgery June 24th, surgery weight 331, current weight 306. Eating about anything. Had eggs for b'fast, crab & cottage cheese for lunch, turkey meatballs for dinner. Can only eat about 4 T of food at a time. Can't stand Protein shakes, but drink 1 c of milk 2x day to get my protein. Averaging about 55-60grams of protein, 600-700 calories. Bad news, I've gained! I was at 302 about two weeks ago. So frustrating. I first gained from 303 to 304. Then another week goes by and today it's 306. I've heard people talk about stalls, but its killing me. Hope it start going again soon. I'm also hungry every two hours. Really really hungry. Can't Ben understand when people say thy don't get hungry anymore. You're so lucky

1 Month Updates Here (June 2013 Sleevers)

Surgery on June 24th. Heaviest Weight: 331 Current Weight: 302 - all lost post surgery. Nearly 30lbs lost so far! My stomach feels great, very little pain after surgery. Most surprising thing - I am constantly starving. I can only eat 1 1/2 T of food at a time - like only 1/3 of an egg. Then I get really full and can't take in anymore, but within an hour I am starving. My protein intake is terrible! I am so sick of the protein shakes, I could barf. I try to force myself to drink at least 1c of shake or Isopure, but it is so hard. I am probably averaging 25g of protein a day. BIGGEST QUESTION - How much can everyone else eat 1 month out??

    1 Month Down

Oh my gosh. I am starting my fourth week and am only getting like 30-40 G protein. I can only eat 1 1/2 T of food, that equals 1/3 of an egg. It's so impossible o get any protein from food when you can only eat a T of food. Is this normal? Seems like you are able to eat much more than that.

ummm... kind of a big deal

Really fabulous! This is one of my NSF I am looking forward to. Awesome job & keep up the great work!!
  8. Agreed. Remember post surgery you are on liquids only. Approximately 200 calories a day. I would get woozy walking short distances. I stayed home two weeks and went to work this Monday. I have full time desk job and was kinda sore my first day. You desk chair is pretty upright compared to a recliner at home. Everyone's different though. Just don't push yourself too much.
  9. D, you're singing my song . Just started my third week and can honestly say I can see my addiction to food for the first time. Before I would've had the desire and then just ate, not even realizing how powerful the craving was. Now I have to feel the craving and try not to fixate on it. I received a bookmark from the psychologist who did my pre-op testing that had the ten stages after weight loss surgery. The second was regret. I was so excited about the surgery I never thought I would regret it. But now, it's almost like admitting I won't ever get to loss myself in food again. Yet I know that I get to find me in the journey. I also have the same concerns with getting in enough protein, but it sounds like tht is normal in the beginning. Our stomachs are jut to small to accommodate the grams. I am thinking about seeing a counselor to help support me in te beginning. Wish you the best of luck. Can't wait to see where ths journey takes us
  10. Two weeks out and I'm feeling great! Finally able to eat purée and thank god for that. Down 18 lbs!!

How do I know how much to eat?

I am eight days post-op and healing really great. But I am really worried about how much I'm supposed to be eating or drinking on phase II. When I have cream of chicken soup, should I have 4 or 8 ounces? Protein shake, 4 or 8 ounces? Pudding, 1/2c or 1/4c. They say let your body tell you when. Bad news, I haven't been able to feel a cue from my gut in a lot of years! I feel like I'm starving, but am scared to death to eat too much and ruin this really costly surgery I just paid for . Any suggestions would be awesome!!

    Surgery Tomorrow

So tomorrow's the big day. Started the liquid diet yesterday and surprisingly it's not too hard. Bet it will be more difficult in three weeks. Still nervous, but becoming more resigned to the fact everything is going to change. I have read and planned as much as humanly possible. Now it's time to walk the walk. Praying I will be strong enough to make this a life long change. Can be scary sometimes when my support group is full of people who have gained weight back from bypass and lapband. I've been thinking about seeing a counselor to deal with some of the emotional aspects of WLS. I just really want this so bad. Now that some family and friends know I'm going to this extreme, what if I screw this up. What if I miss having birthday cake or my mom's famous fried chicken or my sister's potato salad. I know I sound like an idiot or at least like an addict, but sometimes it's so scary to think I won't have my favorite foods again. OMG, I'm such an addict. Maybe these thoughts are why I need surgery .

What can you eat on the puréed stage?

I'll be starting these foods this week too. I'm wondering how much we are supposed to eat. I'm worried I won't know when I've ate my feel. Haven't felt nauseated once since the surgery. Just hope I'm not stretching my stomach out.

  18. UNJURY also makes a pre-made drink that is thin like water. Has fruit favors like fruit punch, mango, grape, etc. really good. I hat think protein shakes too. Cost about $5 at GNC and have 40 grams of protein.
