  1. I am having the hardest time getting over 60gms of Protein a day. If I had it my way I'll be in the 80-100gms a day. How are u guys able to get all your protein?

I'm a year out and I still use protein supplements most days. At first my doc wanted me off shakes/bars, but when he realized how active I am & my goals, he told me to keep them.

Also, the original plan was to eat 3 times per day, one snack if needed-- I can only eat MAX 4 oz at a time, so that would've been impossible. And also, my PCP encouraged me to eat more often d/t low blood sugar. So I now eat 5-6 times a day, about 2-4oz at a time. It keeps my blood sugar pretty level at a comfortable 80, so I don't worry so much when I workout. So my norm is 80-100 grams of protein per day.

  2. Here's what I packed myself for work today

    12 hour shift

    11am- 11 pm

    - Carnation Instant breakfast, no sugar added w/ skim milk (13g)

    - 1/2 oz beef Jerky & 1/8 c. pecans (9g)

    - veggies & 2 tbsp hummus (2g)

    - 3oz left over BBQ w/ 1/8 c. Beans (24g)

What do y'all like to pack for work???

Is 48 greens of Protein enough for a 12 hour shift? I worked 11 hours today (hadn't planned on it) and was scared when I only got in 54g of Protein.< /p>

Because it was an 11-11 shift, I woke up at a "normal" 4am (lol). So I ate before work as well. This is just what I packed.

  3. Regarding not wanting to carry a card in your wallet for fear it wouldn't be found quickly enough, how likely is it that the first thing that's going to happen when you're unconscious is that you get NSAIDs or an NG tube? Sure might need CPR or an IV, but wouldn't people who know you have been contacted before you've been unconscious long enough for an NG tube?

My surgeon has never mentioned anything like this to me, and I'm not really a jewelry kind of girl. What do the guys do?

Just the other day my patient was intubated, had an NG, and extubated & removed the NG before we could get ahold of any family.

    So, it happens.

My biggest fear isn't an NG, But to be lavaged-- ah!

  4. Lol.

My husband and I were celebrating one night (post-sleeve) and went to a really nice restaurant. I told the waiter I didn't want a drink...

    "How about just a Water?"

    "No, thank you."

    "But the Water is free."

I'm sitting there dressed in well over $40,000 of jewelry & an expensive handbag... And I'm about to spend over $150 for a meal that I'm only eating 4 bites from.... Uh, I'm not really worried if the water is free. LOL
