  1. Since it's a different question, I'll give a different answer.

When I started all this, I THOUGHT my ultimate goal would be 140 lbs (that would be 100 lbs lost). I breezed through that. And my doc gave me a goal of 132 (even though he said he'd be happy with me in the 140s). Once I got to 132, I didn't know what to do. I never thought of being that small. Even as a teen, I never weighed less than 170. My surgeon's new goal is 115 lbs by May 2015. I then told him I wanted to start lifting (heavy) weights. So, we now have no clue what my next weight goal is... But here's MY goal: lift my body weight without gaining weight.

Honestly, I'm shocked by my current weight. But now that I'm here, I'm wanting to go a little lower.

  2. About me:

My name is Misty. I'm 26 years young. No children. I've been a nurse for 5 years (currently working ER- love). I've been overweight ever since I can remember (I was def the largest in my 1st grade class). After high school & out of sports, my weight ballooned out of control. But (like many addicts) I was in denial. (Side note: no, I don't believe every obese person is an addict). After realizing how much my obesity was affecting my health, my job, and daily activities, I decided I needed a change. After MANY failed diet attempts, I had my sleeve with Dr. Borland in New Iberia, LA (self-pay). food no longer controls my life. I don't live to eat. I'm fit and healthy and active. I never could have imagined this life for myself. It's truly amazing.

    1 year since my VSG....

    Height: 4' 11"

    Highest weight: 245 lbs

    Surgery weight: 240 lbs

    Current weight: 128 lbs

    112 pounds down!! ????

    Largest size: 24

    Current size: 6/8

I still have goals I want to meet, but I am so happy with my progress thus far.

How do I feel?.... Healthy, fit, alive, AWESOME

    What do I do?.... I follow MY rules (which I know isn't everyone's rules ????). I run. I lift. I'm a yogi. I enjoy myself.

  3. I'm so tired of people thinking I'm sick and frail because I lost weight!!! Or saying, "yeah, but how do you FEEL??" ... Expecting me to say terrible???

I feel empowered, awesome, healthy, happy, proud

I'm not sickly: at 128 lbs, I'm fit. I have muscle. I lift. I run. I'm flexible. (Ok, maybe still technically "overweight".... All the more reason I'm not sick & frail!!!)

  4. @@tbrous65 : on the full site, you click on your name top right, and then my tickers. I have no clue how to use the mobile app.

Thank you so much for posting ! Your stats are a just about same as mine only I am just now beginning my year ! To see your success make my heart soar !! My mind cannot wrap it'self around the idea that I can ever be smaller than 200lbs. Would you be willing to share some of personal tips ? Exercise , Snacks, meals ...I just love this site !

    Tips: hmm....

Exercise: I walk/jog. I attend BodyFlow & Yoga classes 2-3 times per week. I go to a core class once per week. I do some basics at home, and I recently starting lifting heavier weights.

Food: I eat 5-6 times per day. 2-4 oz at a time. I mainly eat meats & veggies for meals. smoothies if I'm on the run. For Snacks I like yogurt, nuts, cheese, Quest bars.

  5. So... I was out of town the past couple days, so I've been eating out just about every meal. Also (TMI warning) it's the dreaded TOM, so I've been eating everything in sight! I know! I'm such a piggy! ... And whatdaya know??

As of this morning, I stepped on the scale and, I have a new low weight... 128 lbs.

I love my sleeve & my sleeve loves me! lol

  6. I had cottage cheese and a roma Tomato with a small banana. I typically eat a Protein bar twice for a morning and afternoon snack. For dinner usually some sort of chicken or fish and a fresh vegetable. I rarely eat more than 1100 calories a day but get in 70 to 85 grams of protein a day. I have love over 175 pounds in about 10 months and I'm still losing. I feel great. Eat healthy no matter what you eat and please do yourself a favor and log your food. I use my fitness pal on my Iphone. That is really a key to success.

I'm a big fan of logging my food as well! Even at a year out, it's very helpful.

    (Although I don't use mfp)

  7. The moment I knew I had to change:

While performing chest compression for a few minutes during a "code blue" another nurse had to tell me to sit down because it looked like I was going to pass out. It was so embarrassing. I couldn't even do my job.

Now I can run around all night and not feel physically tired. I just think of chest compressions as a little extra cardio (for me & the patient)

    :)
