  1. You won't know until it happens.

For instance, I loved sweets (cake, brownies, cookies)... I thought I'd miss it. But now, sweets (especially cakes/ cupcakes) gross me out.

But I still eat tomatoes, salads (VERY little- like a bite or two), veggies everyday.

I don't enjoy food the way I did before bc it doesn't give me the high it did before. I didn't realize how unhealthy my relationship was with food. I don't miss the food; I don't miss the high; I much prefer my new life.

  2. I also had reflux. You know why? Because I was fat. LOL

    Cured that. Haha

Ok, seriously, getting a second opinion now is a must. Don't seek out someone with the same opinion as you, but just a valid medical opinion. Explain your concerns. It may be the same opinion as the fist surgeon, it may be different. Ask questions. The "whys" are important.

  3. While admitting a patient the the hospital the other night, this 80- something year old with no chronic conditions looked up and me and said...

"You know what's wrong with healthcare nowadays?... People are just too fat."

I had to chuckle because he had no clue that I was once (recently) over 100lbs heavier.

But he's correct. The costs of obesity related illnesses are unbelievable, yet it feels nearly impossible to get insurance companies to pay for wls... or even for PCPs to accept it as treatment.

I was a self-pay because my insurance paid for NO wls. Luckily, I was in a position to pay cash. I feel for those who simply can't afford it-- can't afford to be fat (medications, dr visits, etc), yet can't afford surgery either.

  4. Some people are just sissies.

    Just kidding.

Everyone experiences pain differently and reacts to pain differently. Also, attitudes of pain & feelings towards pain medications vary as well.

For example: instead of feeling pain, some may feel hot, nausea, aggravation.. It manifests itself in a different way.

It's very interesting to have a 30 year old patient crying in pain from a kidney stone & having a 60 year old cancer patient with mets everywhere smiling & refusing medication. I think much of it is perception, self control, and beliefs.

    Just an opinion.

  5. Highest weight: 245 lbs

    Surgery weight: 240 lbs

    Goal weight: 140 lbs

    Current weight: 129 lbs

Revised goal (from surgeon): 115 lbs by May next year

    Height: 4' 11"

    Age: 26

At 11 months post op, I've adapted well to my new "normal" life. I LOVE to workout: running, weights, yoga, workout classes. I've completely given up rice, bread, potatoes, and Pasta. I don't eat fried foods or candy. Basically, I eat real food- Protein, veggies, fruit, nuts, yogurt, cheese. I never feel deprived or left out- it's all about the mindset.

And I'm starting to love shopping instead of crying and dreading.

    Here are my pics

I also added other photos & photos of food I eat (hopefully this helps someone) in my 11 month pic gallery. :)

  6. I'm 26. No children. My highest weight was 245. My current weight is 129.

I workout a disgusting amount, keep hydrated, exfoliate, moisturize, all that jazz... I look totally hot in clothing. Naked, I look like an 80 year old. I have batwings, saggyness on the belly, inner thighs, and under my armpits on my sides. The girls... Well let's say I just roll them up and tuck those little things away for now.

Currently saving the cash for plastics. :)

  7. CONGRATLATIONS!! You look amazing! I'm really impressed. Nice work! Has your whole life changed?

    Thank you.

My relationship with food has def changed. I no longer pleasure-seek through eating. I eat out of necessity. I can physically do things I couldn't do before (running, burpees, ride a bike). My initial response would've been: no, my whole life hasn't changed. But truthfully a lot of it has.

  8. So, everyone's different.... Mine started falling at 3 months and I had new regrowth starting at 7 months. It fell out in clumps. It thinned mostly on the sides of my head. Noticeably thinner but not bald. (I did have VERY thick hair before). However, a ponytail wasn't an option bc of how thin the sides looked when I pulled my hair back.

And of course I took Biotin & used fancy shampoos & got in all my Protein.

  9. I've hit every goal he's given me. I listen to all his advice. But now I won't see him until next year, which kinda makes me nervous.

He asked me if I wanted to go any lower... Well... Yeah! lol

My weight today: 129.3 lbs. My surgeon's goal for next year: 115 lbs. that might be a little low for me as I enjoy weights, but we will see.

Topics of discussion today: hair, BMs, Protein, and plastic surgery. :)

    Excited about the plastics talk!

Here's some recent befores & nows:

  10. I also got a whole lot of trouble with my ID. Apparently I look a little different than my drivers license,

I wanna be there when you try to board a flight. They'll probably wrestle you to the ground as a terrorist using a phony ID.

On second thought....maybe you better get a new pic.

Oh please! They actually had to go check the security cameras for me to get back in the casino! I was waiting for someone to just snap my ID in half.
