  7. I never did count my calories. If you're eating the appropriate amounts and types of foods, calories counting is pointless.
  8. I spent the past week in Florida (my first real vacation since my VSG just over a year ago). We had a blast!!-- 1 week at Vero Beach and a couple days at Disney (Magic Kingdom). I was surprised and excited to see how wonderful vacation is as an average sized person. I wore a bathing suit, played in the sand, kept up without getting out of breath, my feet didn't hurt, and it wasn't NEARLY as HOT as I remembered other vacations to be. LOL. I felt comfortable in my own skin & fit in all the rides -- I skipped my family's last trip to Disney bc I was embarrassed I wouldn't fit on some rides-- anyway-- It was AWESOME! So... About the food: For the most part, I eat very well at home. Very few packaged food (only dairy, nuts, Protein supplements, and peanut butter)) and the rest of my diet is fresh produce and meats. As for our trip, I decided to take a vacation from my way of eating while on vacation. I still focused on protein and ate small portions, but I went a little wild on my choices of Snacks at Magic Kingdom. My husband (who also follows a low carb/ high protein diet) says, "there's no rules on vacation!" LOL My confession: at Disney I ate a Mickey icecream bar, a fruit smoothie, 5 French fries, and shared an icecream sundae with my husband. GASP! I also had 3 alcoholic beverages during my week (of which I can only drink about 1/3 ). Confession continued: nothing tastes as good as I remembered. Nothing gave me the high it once did. I didn't crave it. I didn't love any of it. And afterwards, Those poor food choices made me feel tired & down... Just no energy. That trash did nothing good for my body. Junk makes you feel like junk. So I had a WONDERFUL vacation, but I'm happy to be back to my normal eating & drinking habits. Here's a few pic of my trip along with some food & beverage choices. And a pic of the safety bar on a ride that doesn't keep me very safe bc I'm so much smaller than my husband now. HAHAHA.

  11. This is my first vacation since my VSG, and I'm just surprised at how comfortable I feel- comfortable walking around (my feet don't hurt, I can keep up without getting out of breath), I feel comfortable in a swimsuit (really, I walked around all day in my bathing suit without feeling the least bit self-conscious), and best of all I feel comfortable being in photos --- I feel like a normal person! LOL Here's one from Vero Beach,FL.. And heading to Disney in a few days!!! AND I WILL BE ABLE TO FIT IN ALL THE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!

    So confused

But if you won't need diabetic meds & diet pils, how will she make money off you?? Jk, kinda. There are a lot of PCPs that just don't agree with weight-loss surgery. Mostly because they've seen the worst. (For instance, I had zero complications & am otherwise healthy after losing weight-- so my doc doesn't see me but once a year for a thyroid level. However, she sees ppl who are having complications, pain, and struggling with medical management much more often... So what do you think sticks in her head more??... The complications.) I knew surgery was the right thing for me because-- I just couldn't do it on my own. I know some would roll eyes at this. But honestly, I tried. And tried. And tried. I did the diet, exercised, drank pink stuff, counted carbs & cals, calculated points, ans took the magic pills... Nothing. Well, maybe 30 lbs or so, but I wanted to lose more than thirty lbs. I didnt want to go through all that and still be +80 lbs overweight. It was (for me) the best decision ever!

    Yoga---It's for US!

I LOVE yoga. I go to classes and practice at home as well. I feel so awesome afterwards- stretched, relaxed, peaceful. Yoga & meditation has helped me become a much more calm, grounded person. It's much easier now that I've lost weight. I can do so many binds and poses I couldn't have done at a heavier weight. It's fun to see the progress.

    Flex for me!

Too long. I did atrophy. All I did at first was lots of cardio & light weights (5-15 lbs) and some body-weight exercises. I felt like I was doing so well, it didn't even occur to me that I was getting so weak. I started lifting heavier just shy of 1 year (maybe between 10-12 months?). I'd def suggest if it's your goal to lift, start maybe 3 months or so out-- once you've begun eating consistently and getting enough Protein & calories (whatever your numbers may be).
