    Postop: Week 2

I wasn't expecting to write any type of entry for week two, but this week has a big impact on my thought process. Losing 22lbs in week 1 was amazing. I felt great! On top of the world! Ready to jump-start my new life! ...And then, it stopped. On day #7 the scale stopped moving. Now, I've researched this surgery soooo much and knew this was very likely. It seems many people have a stall around week 2-3. I thought I was prepared for this strange phenomena... But I was wrong. I had so many doubts this week. Would I ever lose the weight? Am I doing everything I'm supposed to do? Did I just have surgery to lose 22lbs? It was a terrible week. And then I realized... This is completely normal. Not only not losing weight is normal, but also all these feeling are normal as well. It's easy to get discouraged when things don't go your way. It's easy to get angry or sad... But that's what this journey is about- it's about a fight to a better you. A physically better you AND an emotionally better you. It's about strength, determination, and learning. To all you who are discouraged and down this week, pick up the pieces and keep on keeping on. This is all part of your story- the ups AND the downs. There are many times we will feel this way, down and depressed, but we just have to pick ourselves up, dust off, sip some water, and walk it off.

    Postop: Week 2

You go girl!! It WILL come off!!!!
  5. I threw up for the 1st time on July 4th (vsg 6/11) and it was eggs too! And for the same reason you did-- ate too fast. Ick! Hopefully this is the last time for you. I'm paranoid now--- chew chew chew, slow slow slow. Lol
  6. Earlier today my husband ran into a good friend of mine. Not BFF, but a close friend. This is how the conversation went: Her: So how's she feeling? Him: oh she's doing real good. She lost a few lbs, been exercising, and no complications- real good. Her: SO DOES SHE REGRET THIS YET? Ummm..... WTH!?! But on a happy note-- I retired my first pair of jeans today.

    I'm a little hurt..

I was pretty upset when I heard this, but I'll forgive her. She's had a pretty ugly history with her weight as well (she drops lbs by starving herself after her fiancé calls her fat)... So, I'll let her be green if she wants to. I'm happy with me!

    Magnesium Citrate

My doc gave specific instructions: I had to drink 1 bottle at 4pm, and one at 6pm. If you're really not sure if its ok, just call and ask his office- that's what they're there for! Good luck!
  10. Sleeved 1 month ago today, and feeling GREAT! :)

  11. On the day of surgery, you wouldn't say " I'm 1 day postop" ... The following day is 1 day post op.
  12. I'll be visiting my PCP soon, and I want to know what kind of lab work did you guys have post- op. My surgeon won't be following these things, so I want to be sure I don't miss anything. I'll be having my yearly thyroid level checked, but other than that, what should I suggest? Thanks you guys!

    Vitamins question

My surgeon was happy with Flintstones Complete- 2 a day, taken at different times of the day. Calcium twice a day. And I just started taking Vitamin B12 per his recommendation as well.

    POST-op lab work ?

That's why I want to make sure my PCP orders everything I need. I love my doctor, but I know she's not a specialist in wls. I don't want to miss something like that.

What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

Ok, y'all are making me feel like a cow. Lol

What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

Last week my Dr said to aim for cupcake-sized portions. And I'm like, "Did you REALLY just say cupcake in front of me?!" LOL..... I don't think I'm anywhere near cupcake- sized portions, but I'm happy with the amount I can eat. For dinner I usually serve myself 3 oz but eat two. But I still have a mental issue leaving food on my plate- I do it, but it bothers me. I def have Clean-Plate Syndrome!

What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

    I eat VERY slowly. Lol

What's everyone eating at 4 weeks out?

Breakfast- 2-3 oz (usually 2) of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese, or an egg (I like scrambling an egg with a laughing cow wedge), or cream of wheat. Lunch- Protein shake Dinner- 2-3 oz of fish, shrimp, or ground turkey. Last night I had 2oz of crab meat. Yum! (I live in south Louisiana and I literally get to buy seafood off the boat- it's amazing). And I usually put a small bite of veggies on my plate. It's hard to get to the veggies at this point.. Just concentrating on the protein. Sometimes a snack- usually 2-3 oz Greek yogurt if I haven't had it for Breakfast.
  24. I couldn't have that thicker stuff until week 3. My surgeon said it had to run off a spoon easily.
