Whole Foods: what are your must- haves?

There's no "Kroger" either. Lol Our local grocery store has about 1/4 an aisle of organic food. Lol. I buy what I can there, but its pretty limited -- so you can understand my excitment for Whole Foods.

Not only do we not have a Super Target, I've never seen one! Lol. And this trek to While Foods is an hour away... So that may give you an idea of what's available to me in my area. Lol

    Gummi supplements

Although, it's usually used for blood sugar, it can also be prescribed for PCOS as well as for weight loss and insulin resistance. No confusion here. Lol. If you haven't had a problem yet w/bs that's fantastic! If it wasn't used for blood sugar, then I wouldn't worry about checking it.
  10. It'll be enough. My liquid diet was actually just the day before surgery, and I'm fine!

    Gummi supplements

I am a nurse and I do work in a hospital. I know you are not "supposed to" crush Metformin/Glucophage, which is why I said that... BUT sometimes in hospitals Drs allow us to bc the patients are under such close care by us with lab work and frequent blood sugar checks. But I (personally) would never tell someone to take it crushed at home. But you can absolutely crush your synthroid! COMPLETLY safe to do so. And I agree w/ you on being home-- that's why I chose a doc who does outpatient surgeries. If you don't already, I'd suggest checking your blood sugar a couple times a day. You can buy a meter at the drug store for under $10. If you blood sugar gets above 200, give your doc a call.

I think you split it to increase absorption.

    Gummi supplements

You should NOT crush every type of medication!! Phone your doc to be sure. As a simple rule, if the bottle says "don't crush or chew"- then don't. You CAN crush your synthroid but your metformin - probably not. I'm surprised you're still on bc so soon after surgery. My doc took me off. Really not sure about your 'statin. If you have any type of extended release, they cannot be crushed.
  14. I'm 1 month out and my shake takes me 1-1.5 hrs depending on the size. Sometimes I do an 8oz shake and sometimes an 11oz. But I do actually enjoy my shake (call me crazy!)

    Injury but cant take ibuprophen

The pain you're describing shooting down your leg(especially with your back history) sounds more like a nerve than just a pulled muscle. You may need to speak to your doctor to see if a steroid would be needed (to reduce the inflammation). NSAIDS are never recommended close to any surgery bc of the increased bleeding risk, but as others have said, also to protect our stomachs from ulcers (ouch!) I hope you feel better soon!!!

    Afraid to Eat

EAT! My advice would be to weigh or measure everything you put on your plate. Eat very small bites and chew chew chew. And when your tummy says stop, stop.

    Stomach sleepers

My doc ok'd it 1 week post op. I didn't try until 2 weeks post op. I'm more of a side/tummy sleeper and used a pillow to prop- up my belly to avoid that pulling feeling. I couldn't sleep the whole night on my side/tummy, but it was nice to lay there for a bit.
  18. I'm not ready for steak (4weeks out), but I've been craving it! M mmmm

    1 Month Down

Thank y'all.. Breakfast: 2 oz yogurt, cream of wheat, egg ( I like it scrambled w/ a laughing cow wedge), or turkey roll up Lunch: protein shake Dinner: 2-3 oz total fish, shrimp, chicken (I tried ground turkey, but I find it difficult to eat) and a bite of veggies- broccoli, squash **eating something heavier, I usually split dinner in two, and the 2nd part of dinner becomes a snack. Snack: 1-2 oz yogurt (if I didn't eat any for breakfast), cottage cheese I try to add protein powder to whatever I can.
