  1. Since surgery on 6/11, I've been walking every day. I increase my distance but my minutes walked decreases at I lose weight and get a little more "fit."--- 40 lbs lost as of yesterday, whoop whoop!--- I enjoy my walks, but in this hot/ humid south Louisiana weather, I have to walk early in the morning for it to be tolerable. (The 60 yr old women put me to shame jogging at noon in my street! Lol) Anyway, I wanted to have an alternative for when its just too hot or raining outside, so I picked me up a couple workout DVDs-- one of them being Taebo. I totally forgot what a workout it is! (I did a little jump rope before as a warm up) Sweating after 10 minutes -- and knowing that its not just the humidity making my face damp!! It was a good feeling! Yeah!! So... What are y'all favorite indoor cardio exercises? Any favorite workout DVDs?

Q: how you y'all use Quest bars?

This is my first time trying them. I like them so far. I'm hoping they are a good solution to busy work days. And hopefully by the time I get tired of them, I'll be getting enough Protein from regular food. Thanks!

Q: how you y'all use Quest bars?

Just remember everyone is different. Would you say this to an alcoholic??.. relax, Don't worry, you'll mess up one day...you'll binge again. To me a candy bar isn't just a candy bar. A drink isn't just a drink. A line of coke isn't just a line. It's ok that you are "lmao" at my trouble. I know we are all different. I was just asking how ppl prefer to eat their Protein bars.

Q: how you y'all use Quest bars?

I'm not depriving myself. Im not afraid it'll lead me to candy. I don't want to feel like I'm doing bad things to myself my eating Protein bars. The shakes make me feel like I'm doing something healthy. On another note, I hope I do never eat candy again.

Q: how you y'all use Quest bars?

Let me say this... I'm only nervous bc they seem one step closer to a candy bar, and I don't ever want to feel as though I'm eating a candy bar.

Q: how you y'all use Quest bars?

I've never heard of those. Do they have as much Protein? My doc wants me to slowly switch from shakes to bars (something I was very nervous about). But this Quest bar seems pretty easy to eat so far.

I forgot Taebo was a workout! *sweaty*

Haha.. That's awesome! I think Jillian M might be the next one I buy. I'd like to have a little collection for variety. And I think I can hang for 20 minutes!

    body wraps

Usually body wraps are only temporary. For instance, if you were attending a wedding and wanted to look extra good in your new dress, then yeah, go for it. The results typically last a few days (the wraps I'm familiar with anyway). The main way they work is they dehydrate your skin, leaving you smaller by having lost water. Now, maybe some sort of compressive, hydration wrap might help long term with the elasticity of skin?? Not sure about a different type, sorry.

I actually bought a Burlesque Jazzercise DVD also... We'll see how that goes! Lol And there are belly-dance classes available near me I'd love to take... But after I drop a little more weight. And my friend RAVES about the Jillian M workout but says they are so hard. Are they that bad??

    Big Question

It's difficult bc you know you will be judged. You know others might have nasty thing to say. I was ok with that. I chose to tell people. My family, friends, and coworkers (who are great friends as well). I expected negative feedback, but I have gotten much more positive. Here were my reasons for sharing: 1) hiding it is more difficult-- people are going to know. And I feel like they are more judgmental if you hide it as if you're embarrassed by it. It's like when you point out a flaw, then no one will talk about it. ex: hey, I have a big zit on my face.. Then no will feel the need to talk about the big zit behind your back. 2) my mentors were not quiet about it-- the ones who have been through this, educated me, encouraged me were not secretive, and I'm very thankful for that. Had they not been an open book, I may not have had the tools to become a success story. I'm not loud about it. I don't preach about it. But I have had ppl interested about wls. If I need to be a mentor for someone else, I think I owe it. 3) I wanted to be held accountable-- especially at work. If I'm at work and about to bite into a pizza, I want someone to be like, "umm, are you supposed to be eating that??" Or with friends if I'm about to eat something that isn't good for me, I WANT the nasty judgemental face. I respect people's reasons for not sharing, but I felt it was best for me.

    Walking Isnt Enough

My doctor seemed a little disappointed too that I was walking. I was kind of surprised. I thought that's what I should've been doing. I continued my walks, but I'm incorporating other cardio as well. He wanted my heart rate at a certain # for at least 30 mins. 180 - your age = your work out heart rate So that what I'm working towards. Don't beat yourself up about this! Walking that much did your body good!
  15. I'm a nurse and work med/surg/tele/ triage... A little of everything. Lol. I actually took nearly 2 months off- not bc I needed it, but my husband like me at home too much! Lol. So, by the time I went back, I was physically ready. On my first day back I was a little nervous about eating/ drinking, but it ended up working out fine (but I was the house supervisor that night which gave me a lot of leeway). It's just takes a lot of planning and a little rule breaking (eating and drinking in areas you shouldn't ) Just remember to ask for help when you need it!

    Protein powder

Or Protein drinks I should say. (Premade or not)
  22. Mrs.RRn

    Protein powder

I've never heard of that brand, but here are my Dr's rules for Protein powder: 1- must be whey protein 2- must be high in protein (15-30 grams/serving) 3 must be low in sugar (less than 6 grams per serving) Hope this helps!

    Dinner

I don't believe the sleeve causes food allergies to worsen, but continually being exposed to an allergy over time does!

    Dinner

I couldn't eat shrimp until 4 weeks out, but I LOVE it. And I find it easy to eat. I be sure to keep a supply in my freezer (before surgery and now).
