  1. my mother is kind of the same way, she was an alcoholic and was one of the people that as a kid was always giving me food when i was sad or upset. I think she has guilt some over the things that happened in the past. She still has a tendency to push food at me. I hope things can be worked out but sometimes i think we cant change peoples minds. Best of luck and dont give up on your journey. There is def. alot of support here.

  2. Hi nancy,

I am new on this journey as well. All I can say is that you have to live your life for you. If you have health problems that are shortening your life the decision for the wls makes sense. Your boyfriend would have to get it together to become supportive or if it were me I would be looking at a few changes in my life. I have had a few people that are against me having surgery because of the risk involved. My response to them is how risky is it for me to stay at a weight over 500 pounds. I hope everything works out and you are able to make the best decision for YOU. Best of luck in your journey.

  3. Hi all. I agree with all of these posts and actually got to crying reading them. I weigh over 500 pounds. Right now and I wanted to add I won't miss having little kids say in a not quiet voice "whoa look how fat that lady is", having my husband put my shoes on me, and him having to help me clean myself, my skin tearing open from rawness, being out of breath walking a short distance, never being able to ride a roller coaster, being too scared to get on a plane bc I won't fit, [and the the plane would prob. Go down. That's just a few I was thinking.
