So optimistic. . . then kaploowey!

My advice is to ignore her mind warped sense of selfishness. McBarbie, will soon find out that your inner strength and determination go far beyond her size 6. You WILL DO THIS!!!! You are a strong woman just by reading this blog post. Let this be a driving force to push you and rise above her pettiness. It doesn't matter how much you weigh, you could be a stick and still have more compassion to others than her. I wish you the best of everything and ALWAYS remember we are a community here who are right with you!!!

    Watch the salt!

I know it makes me aggravated but I guess I'll just keep drinking fluids and luckily the Walmart brand water flavoring s are sodium free!
  5. I was just reading today that some of the "stalls" people face after surgery is salt or sodium intake. Ugh...seriously!?!? All we drink is sodium in the drinks, powders ect.

    Watch the salt!

my Dr told me the major issue is dehydration. ...so I'm not going to freak on the sodium and make sure to hydrate

    who loves air squats?

I feel a lot better when I walk. Especially after consuming anything....because it helps move it down. I'd find a little route or a few to take while on breaks and if you're able to go outside, walk around in the sun. Side bends are good and wall push ups to get the arms toned.

    What to eat?

Make sure you don't drink too much caffeine, my Dr told me it will dehydrate you in the long run because its a diuretic. I drink one every day, because I need the caffeine but then I drink water w flavoring....have fun on your outing!!!!

    2nd day of Optifast

I'm right there with you on cooking for a family and you can't eat any of it! It's like a cruel joke, but I ALWAYS say to myself....this isn't forever. I AM WORTH IT! You are too and just remember we're learning moderation. We had this for a better happier healthier life!

    who loves air squats?

Thanks, will have to try those!!!

    What to eat?

If you're on a liquid diet still, you should bring a protein drink with you. If you're on a soft diet, ask for (1) egg beater because you won't eat it all. Don't drink and eat, remember no liquids and food together anymore. You must wait 30 min after a meal to drink. If you can't bring your protein, get soup and drink the broth.

    I have some questions

Sweats, comfy clothing, slippers because they'll want you to walk, walk, walk! Chapstick, toothbrush, change of undergarments, phone, charger, i brought my ipad and I don't know if your dr does this but I was put in a binder to help hold me in and heal my muscles after the laparoscopic surgery. You'll want to try all the types of Proteins before you commit because some find that they're not tolerant to whey or soy or just flat out can't hack the taste. You don't want to spend a lot of $$$ on something and find yourself stuck with it. Just remember to ask the nurses for suggestions and sip sip SIP...don't be in a hurry to get it down because it WILL hurt if you take a big drink. Good luck and please let us know how you do!!!

    Finally, something that tastes GOOD!

Sugar free is 60 cal w water or 150 cal w 8 oz of skim milk and 13 g of protein w milk. If you use reg packet of strawberry, chocolate or vanilla it's 220 cal w skim milk and 13 g of protein.

    Unjury and Soy Protein...

One last thing, SOY IS CHEAPER for most products. My containers of EAS were $9.95 each
  17. I was having a horrible time with whey Protein and could only keep the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury down...then my nut suggested Soy. Wow, what a difference! I do like the Unjury as it does have better flavor and the vanilla mixed with cinnamon is good, so is the chicken Soup. I just got a small container of EAS chocolate Soy and it's very good! No more nastiness and smell of the other whey shakes. I also don't have the issue of nausea or headaches. If you're not tolerating whey, try soy with Water or skim milk. It's worth it.

    Unjury and Soy Protein...

No problem! Walmart carries EAS Soy in chocolate and vanilla...the taste is like night and day!!!! I mix my chocolate with a cup of coffee and have even mixed it with skim milk and ice and blended it. Unjury chicken, chocolate and vanilla are good, but chicken is the best. If you like cinnamon try mixing vanilla soy with cinnamon it's good too.

    It's offical....Im approved!

I used Unjury chicken soup, and Soy protein. Don't buy a container if you don't have to. Also the Atkins shakes aren't bad. I get the chocolate and mocha latte. If you have a local GNC they'll let you try samples of their protein drinks/powders. I don't get the nasty after taste with Soy, also chicken broth, beef broth and sugar free jello helps too. Don't forget cream soups and puddings.

    New Whey Liquid Protein 42g

    Collagen...sorry

    New Whey Liquid Protein 42g

Colleen proteins are the worst because they give no real support to cellular function and helping with muscle function. My nut said not to take them because the protein is a poor source and nutritionally they give you no real benefit. I have the book, idiots guide to weight loss surgery and they say the same thing.

    Finally, something that tastes GOOD!

You have to order strawberry online...nobody carries it in stores! :-(

    Pre-op liquid diet?

I had to do a 14 day Pre op diet and they suggested drinking the Protein drinks and get used to only sipping. I used unjury and soy protein. I was also told get lean cuisine meals and eat 3 each day with 1 cup of vegetables. The meals could not be more than 350 calories each. I was to also start drinking 64 oz of fluids daily, and two lite Snacks. It was hard at first but I did lose weight. They do this so your liver shrinks and helps them do the surgery better since they have to move it for surgery. Your liver is the first to get fat and plump up when you gain weight and it's the first to lose and shrink when you lose weight. Since the pump you full of air and have to use a device to move your liver out of the way they want less trauma as possible to your liver.

    2nd day of Optifast

I know you're using Optifast, but I use Unjury from my Dr and Soy protein from EAS and GNC and have no more vomiting or headaches. Maybe there is an electrolyte issue or you're not tolerating the type of protein?
  25. angela3472

    It's offical....Im approved!

That is wonderful! Trust us, it will go by quick. I was the same way, and before I knew it I was in surgery!! I wasn't even nervous the day of surgery... I was pumped and ready to go. :-) many well wishes to you!
