White jeans are on my naughty list, too. When I met my sweetie seven years ago, I weighed 185 and I gained fifty pounds after that. Well, now since surgery three weeks ago, that number is down to 197 this morning. He has never seen me in a size 8 or 10 of anything. I can't wait!

RJ, I am 67. My husband still talks about me buying a bikini and he sure has never seen me in one (and won't). LOL! I hope you fit in those white jeans soon! But don't give the man a heart attack!

Teachamy reacted to Miss Mac in Let's talk scabs and scars! Oooh! Aaah!
I have two thoughts on your post about scars.
    1. Twice I have had other laparoscopic surgery and on both of them you could not tell where it was if I did not point it out. There are no visible scars. Pink disappears to white, and the rest is up to skin tone.
    2. Take it from the grannies here on the forum. Sexy is in your head. No scar or comment can take it away from you. If you follow the thread on white jeans, you'll see! You deserve to be loved and cuddled and kanoodled, so go for it!!!!

Not me. Once I realized this surgery could rid me of sleep apnea, high blood glucose levels, asthma symptoms, high cholesterol and hbp, I was ready to try it. I also read an article where a doctor said to his patient, "Look around you, how many 70 year olds do you see that are as heavy as you?" Not many. And most of those that do survive are plagued with everything I already have plus an increased risk for heart disease and cancer! I want to live a long, happy life, and I wanted that new life to begin as soon as possible!
That being said, your hesitations and questions are totally valid. We all go through some amount of soul searching before taking this step. i hope you find the right option for you!

Increasing exercise always made me feel incredibly hungry. Maybe you can try adding salsa or spaghetti sauce to some foods to bulk up what you're eating. I've also heard Protein bars and shakes right after working out help muscle recovery and curb the appetite. I am looking forward to getting back into the bars again myself. ( I was sleeved on 12/18! Get weighed again tomorrow.)
Sounds like you're doing great! Keep it up!

    Good
    Small butt
No longer sweat like a small piggy all year round
Wider selection of clothes to buy
    Bad
Sore tailbone from lack of padding on butt
    Freezing cold all year round
Wider selection of clothes to buy
The good still outweighs the bad... but lmao at the earlier comment "the ugly... the inside of my thighs" - me too!!!!!

Me too. However, I finally gave in and bought elastic dress pants to wear to work when I was literally having to hold my pants to walk! Hopefully these will last through a couple of sizes!

I haven't weight this little in over three years! This is one of the best decisions I have ever made and certainly one that I wish I had done much, much earlier!

The most difficult thing I experienced after surgery was nausea, nausea, nausea. But it only lasted a few days, and once it was gone, I started to feel the benefits. Weight loss, amazing blood sugar levels, cutting down on some of my other meds. Life is good!

I lost 15 pounds my 1st 2 weeks after surgery, and will learn more Wednesday when I weigh in at the NUT's office. If watching your weight is driving you crazy, maybe you should take a break from the scale for a while. A lot of people take measurements because if you don't see the weight coming off, you may see the inches coming off. I am going on how my clothes fit. (A lot better right now!) Not having a scale in my house is helping save my sanity.

Teachamy got a reaction from Shells_Almost_There in When did you go back to work?
It was 19 days from my date of surgery to the time I returned to work. I am a teacher and I timed it so I would only miss 4 days of the school, and then we had 2 weeks of vacation. I needed all the time I got and still find i get pretty tired around 12:00 every day. I spent most of those 19 days napping and doing my walks around the house. It was biting cold here at the time, so I rarely changed out of my fuzzy jammies or left the house!

Stress affects our bodies in a million different ways, so yes, I'm sure it could affect weight loss. Focus on Protein and you'll start losing again, although I'm sure this is getting a little agonizing! Good luck!

I boiled the hell outta some broccoli, and thought that would do the trick. Sadly, it came back to haunt me, and I spent much of the next day in the bathroom. Otherwise, I have learned that stuffing in that extra bite or 2, despite what your sleeve is telling you means immediate regurgitation for me.
On a less gross note, most foods sit just fine with me.

Teachamy got a reaction from hmjdreamingbig in Kids, fear and what to say!
I assured them that everything would be fine.( they are 6 and 8) I also set them up for the 3 days of school they would have while I was away. I laid out their outfits for the 3 days, I prepared their school Snacks, I showed my DH how to brush our daughter's hair, and I explained to them how Daddy would pick them up from school, cook dinner, and take good care of them. As far as the surgery goes, I spared them a lot of details, and tried to remain very matter-of-fact in front of them. (I kept my anxiety to myself)
The best thing you can do is stress to your kids that everything will be fine. (And try to tell this to yourself too!) And kids are naturally very concerned about how your absence will affect life at home. Try to make this as stress-free for them as possible by setting up in advance what you typically do for them. It helps calm their fears.
    Best,
    Amy

I was nervous the morning of surgery--scared I would be the one that wouldn't make it! But the nurses were great, and once they slipped a little drug into my IV, the butterflies were gone and I was good to go! You will be fine and thankful you had the guts to go through with it.
    Best,
    Amy
