  1. I've read it many times before. My surgeon explained it to me as the "tube" to your pouch spasming, which causes all sorts of wonderful things, discomfort, pain, and nausea. I'm so sorry you're going through this!

    Pre testinh

blood work, review of your meds., EKG. At least that's what it was for me.
  3. Hi Gem~ I get those fears too. I worry about my kids if...but I know this is the right decision. These fears are often the worst for me the day of any of the surgeries that I have had, so I'm sure I will feel crazier the day of surgery, which btw, is also Dec. 18th! You and I have very similar stats, so feel free to message me! Amy

    cravings !

Are you eating enough calories for 120 minutes of exercise per day? I would check with my NUT if I were you. And I bet if you cut your exercise in half, you will start to lose again.
  5. Try taking teeny, teeny, tiny sips. Did you try warming up the water? Or drinking warm herbal tea? I've heard some people say warm water was easier for them. Plus, room temperature or lukewarm water hydrates you faster. I am pre-op, so I have to take it from others that it will get better every day!

    Froyo?

This may sound like a stupid question, but has anyone ever tried to freeze a regular yogurt? I imagine it ends up looking more like a popsicle than ice cream, but I wonder if it would be palatable?

    9 mores days!

Also excited for you! At least you're not waiting another 50 days, like me. (Not that I'm counting or anything!)

    So far so good, update.

Thanks for the update. It is nice to read a "smooth sailing" post, since I am STILL (ugh) pre-op.

    Surgery is set

I just started a group called Dec. 2013 Sleevers. You should join it!

Anyone Afraid of Telling Others about WLS?

If you do write a Facebook post, I think it should be this. YOU are a great writer. (I should know, I'm an English teacher!) This post explains it all. You'll probably find wonderful support in the least likely people. I say, go for it!

    Surgery is set

Way to go! I am right behind you! December 18.

    this may start a riot.

This site has been a lifeline for me too. I have found many people just like me, which is reassuring and educational. My NUT calls my time on the forum my "research" as I am very well-versed and know the proper questions to ask her. I have learned so much from all of you, and as I stand on the edge of this great precipice, prepared to jump, I am glad you are all behind me--cheering me on!

    People With Low BMI

I just created the group. It's called Low BMIers. It's under the category of Weight Loss. Sorry to jump the gun, tooth fairy!

    calories in subway meatball?

Look up "meatball" in my fitness pal. It gives a range of sizes and meats. Hopefully you can find one that is comparable.

    Heart Rate

I would consult a trainer and your PCP. Could it be that you've gotten so conditioned that 137 is a good rate for you? I don't know. I know when I was working out heavily, my pulse was never what I expected it to be, and then I found out I had AFib, so no machine would count my pulse, and I always thought I was counting it wrong. It's good to get some expert advice. Good for you for running, btw!

    Feeling down an FAT

I am so sorry. I think possibly the worst thing you have experienced was the unbelievably hurtful comment from your mom. I know what my mom thinks, says, or tries not to say, still hurts, even though I am 39 years old! Her opinion of me matters, and she has never had a weight problem, so she just doesn't get it. And man--I know emotional eating! So I get it. If you are able, see a therapist. During my times of grief and change, they have helped me greatly. And on a positive note, you will be fine! You've come so far, keep it up!
  17. Thanks. I am not worried about their reactions. Just surprised at how low their self-esteem must be...and yes. I will be healthier. and yes. I WILL LOOK FABULOUS!
  18. So I will be sleeved in December, and I have been sharing my plans with a few female friends. My decision to have the surgery was mainly Type I Diabetes, sleep apnea, Transverse Myelitis, asthma, high cholesterol high BP, etc. etc. This surgery will help my blood sugars, which will help my cholesterol, lower my dependence on BP medications and asthma meds and possibly thyroid meds., eliminate my sleep apnea and stress incontinence, I AM READY! My friends, being chicks, listen to me talk about my comorbitites/autoimmune issues and then say, "No fair! You're going to be skinnier than me!" REALLY? THAT is your reaction? Unreal.
  19. I was told to chew to baby food consistency, which I guess probably feels like it's against the point when eating solid foods again for the first time. Good luck. I am not sleeved yet, but your post is very helpful.

    physc appoinment today

Similar thing happened to me. I scheduled my consultation with an approved social worker outside of the bariatric practice. First meeting she told me I had a great attitude and seemed to be very self-aware. Then she scheduled 2 more appointments. Learned my lesson! See how quickly your counselor can get you in. Explain your situation. Maybe it will help?

    EDG vs upper GI

Super easy process. They put a plastic peace in your mouth to protect your teeth and keep your mouth open while you're asleep. Then they put you under and when you wake up, it's all done!

    Can't see myself thinner!

And the positives of skinny jeans if you tend not to carry weight in your butt or legs, is they often feel like yoga pants! I love the stretch.

    Thanks for being so candid.

    Pureed food

I am told mainly liquids week 1-2 with 1-2 TBL of yogurt or cottage cheese per "meal". Starting week 3, the tablespoons become 1/3-1/2 c. I believe starting week 7 I can move out of solely the mooshies.
