I get sleeved in 9 days. ( ) Lately, I have been looking at the eating habits of the thin people at work. Their choices are healthier, their portions are small, and they seem fine. Everyone who eats too much is obese, like me. I may feel the way you do once I am sleeved, I don't know. But the next time you are eating at work, at a restaurant, or even with family, know that you are eating like a thin person, because that is what you are becoming! All my best! Amy

Endoscopy And Diabetes
Teachamy replied to ccaramel27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a Type I diabetic, and I have had an upper endoscopy. You should talk to your diabetes specialist about your meds., and I would recommend having it done first thing in the morning, since you need to fast beforehand. does this answer your question? I'm not sure what you are asking... -
Me too. Giant monkey on my back.

My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!
Teachamy replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I highly recommend WonderSlim. The mint hot cocoa is fabulous, and I love the shakes that can also be made as pudding. Super simple to make, just stir it up and let it sit. As a pre-op. person right now, the pudding is often more appealing than YET ANOTHER shake! -
Week 2 Pre-Op Diet , 11 Days Until Surgery!
Teachamy replied to Simpley_ke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really consider it a slip-up. My diet allows me 1/2 c. starch daily, but this is the first day I chose to eat it. The potatoes made me feel bloated and sick though. Crazy how just a few days ultra low-carb. can affect digestion. Definitely makes me understand more about how my body works. MyFitnessPal is warning me that I am eating too few calories. -
Week 2 Pre-Op Diet , 11 Days Until Surgery!
Teachamy replied to Simpley_ke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some mashed potatoes today. Big mistake! I am 12 days away from surgery! Best of luck to you! -
Hello all, I am on Day 3 of my preop. diet and overall, I am doing well. I am measuring my 3 oz. of meat, drinking my Protein shakes, loading up on green vegetables, but I think I had forgotten how often I think about food. Every break, every evening, whenever I am tired or bored, and as a means to de-stress and self-soothe, I would eat. Last night I caved and ate a deli-slice of provolone cheese and 3 (Count 'em) potato chips. (Total slider food. Could've killed my husband for bringing them home.) The cave was due to the simple fact that I needed to go to bed. So I guess it's good how aware I am of Why I tend to overeat, and WHY I still want to. Without the sleeve, I will always return to my old ways. I have found that chomping on a giant cucumber with a teensy bit of salt is pretty satisfying when I feel I need to eat something. I plan on buying some sugar-free Jello and popsicles today. What else is good and calorie free? Could use some words of encouragement! Thanks, Amy

My Surgeon Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet?
Teachamy replied to sleever427's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel, Sleever 427. I ate a ton of food on Thanksgiving weekend. Every left-over and dessert in sight. Couldn't help myself! Now it's Dec. 4th and my pre-op diet begins. I feel better already. And I like to record everything on My Fitness Pal. I am weird that way! -
The way I try to look at it, it's a journey, not a race. There is no finish line, the journey is life-long. So if you fell from the wagon, you just need to get back on and keep on truckin'. Move ahead and don't regret the past. Just think how fabulous you will look and feel next Thanksgiving!

My surgery is the 18th, and I too have a little 10 pound dog. I know nothing will keep her off my lap, it's the 48 and 50 pound kiddos I have to worry about! -
My Surgeon Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet?
Teachamy replied to sleever427's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although my surgeon does require a 2 week diet, it is not a liquid diet. You can drink 3-5 protein shakes, 6 oz. meat, divided into 2 3 oz. portions, unlimited green veggies, one fruit, and a yogurt a day. Is this similar to what you are eating now? -
Coffee Question.,,

Mental Health Evaluation?
Teachamy replied to katt1584's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you can answer honestly, even that you understand that this is a tool, you'll do fine. No one will expect you to have it all figured out, but do you have a good support system in place to help you over the hurdles you'll encounter? Do you have a good relationship with your NUT? Who will help you resolve your issues with food? (head vs. body hunger) And my most important word of advice, don't EVER brag about the bikini you're planning on buying after surgery! I doubt the counselor will approve you in that event. -
My surgeon does a blood test immediately prior to surgery, and if there is indication of nicotine, the surgery is canceled. The risk of smoking is far too high. It must be the hardest thing to do, but you can do it!

Endoscopy is such a piece of cake! They give you an IV, give you a plastic mouth guard that keeps your mouth open, they put you under, then you wake up. i didn't feel a thing, just hungry when I was done. You'll be fine. good luck!

Good News, Bad News
Teachamy replied to brwneyedwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Either way, I hope it helps your kidney disease! I have a number of autoimmune conditions with meds. that make me feel horrible. I too am hopeful the surgery will help matters.
