  1. This is a great question. I'm only 7 weeks out and have found myself trying to analyze all of the weight data the 6-7-8 month sleevers share. Certainly everyone's journey and weight loss is different, but there should be some average ranges that people fall between? Thanks for this thread!

Check out the link a fellow sleeper posted. It's pretty accurate ! I always wondered the same thing when I was newly sleeved too!

  2. I'd lost close to 50 pounds at the six month mark, but that still elated me because my original goal had been to lose 80. A while ago someone posted a chart with average weight loss based on your starting weight. I'll see if I can find it to share.

    Edit -

I corrected a typo in my original post, and I found the thread with the chart I was referencing above. It's in the OP:

Not too far off according to the link you shared. My starting weight was 270 and I am now 195 :) so according to the link I am 15 lbs above weightloss for my starting weight woooo

  3. Aw thanks everybody! We are so excited! He waited till after my surgery almost 2 months after to propose so he could do it on vacation , my first time being able to enjoy my summer without pain. So that was great timing. I was 32 lbs down when he asked and feeling so much healthier . Glad he waited to do it now than before surgery :)

  4. Sounds like low blood sugar, this happens to me. I was sweating, shaking, collapsed on the floor. So now I carry tic tacs in my purse as a back up but I always try to carry a container of Powerade WITH sugar, I drink 2-5 oz and I feel back to normal. Try to split your Protein up and have some in the beginning middle and end of day so you can keep your blood sugar consistent. Helped me so much!

  5. It's no joke a full time job, I'm 2 & 1/2 weeks weeks out and I have to set alarms on my phone to remind me to get Protein in and drink. It was hard for me the first two weeks although I managed but it's getting a lot easier! My stomach is handling more liquids. Then it was before . Don't get me wrong it's still a chore but it's getting easier. Just aim for high protein. I usually do a scoop of 30 gm Protein Drink with 5oz Water in the morning and night.. 4 oz cottage cheese 13 gm protein , zero calorie ice cold Vitamin water made with trivia is a life saver..I love the strawberry lemonade one. It's not acidic tasting . I carry water with me 24 hour and drink. Drink drink even if I'm not thirsty I make myself go through a 20oz vit water, 16 oz water, plus whatever I mix in to my Protein Drinks , posix le and more after before bed. It's literally a full time job....it'll pay off :)

  6. I use calcium chews that are the consistency of startbursts and gummie Multivitamins with no issues. Been on the chews since right after surgery and switched to gummies after two months. So aside from the sugar if you aren't having issues with other solids I don't think the consistency texture is going to be a problem.

One piece of candy every now and again is probably not enough sugar going to cause issues for your stomach, but you wont know until you try.

I think the bigger issues is just that the primary goal post op is to meet nutrition requirements as efficiently as possible and also build better habits. I definitely go off plan every once in a while, I imagine every has their little indulgences. A spoonful or two of Peanut Butter, some cashews or peanuts, but I still try to make sure those things are helping me it my Protein goals, even if the calorie to Protein ratio is less ideal that my normal meal choices.

Candy is just sugar, it's one of the big things we are supposed to avoid. Just added calories. It can also be habit forming, you can't just buy five skittles, or one starburst. So if you get it, it's always going to be there.

I see a lot of questions about "When can I eat "fill in the blank junk food/carb food". I'm pretty sure we all have those cravings. I almost had a panic attack pre op when I realized I wasn't going to be able to eat pizza or Chinese for at least a year/year and a half if ever. Once we hit goal weight and enter maintenance mode I think it's ok to experiment a little with those things and see if we can have them without binging, without affecting weight/nutrition goals negatively. But it's something to be very careful with I think. Building good habits during the weight loss period I think is important with building control for later on.

So basically that's a long winded way of saying one or two small pieces of candy a week will probably not affect you unless your new pouch doesn't like sugar. Buuuuuuutttt it's probably a bad idea until you hit goal weight/maintenance mode and even then food like this should be introduced verrrry carefully and you'll need to pay close attention to how it affects you.

I like to have a piece of candy on occasion, my favorite being the mini laffy taffy, sour skittles, star burst minis --- Ofcourse I wouldn't get them all in one sitting but I'm curious if anyone has tried them. I wonder if our stomachs can tolerate the chewy Gummy candies . Let me know your experience.

    Thanks so true :)

  7. Hey everyone,

Just started week 2 of my full-liquid diet today, and I'm dreading stage 3... Puréed for me starts next Tuesday, and I don't know what I'm going to do. I've been looking at some baby food, but I'm worried I won't be able to tolerate it since my attempt to have yogurt almost made me dry heave.

My one thought was to do another 2 weeks of liquids, but I really should make some kind of attempt to thicken what I'm eating so I can be following the program.

Anyone have any suggestions or recipes that got you through the purée stage? Tomato Soup is my favorite thing during this stage, so if anyone has a thicker Tomato Soup suggestion that would be great... Looking forward to hearing what you guys think.

I was thinking of getting some chicken and cooking it, then purring it inside some tomato soup...

I'll eat/drink anything in tomato Soup at this point to get through those two weeks LOL.

    Thanks in advance.

Ooh good suggestion about puréed meat in tomato soup! I'm obsessed with my tom soup right now being on full liquids, I'm getting it at Panera (it's heavenly) I was thinking mannnn I don't want to ever touch broth again I'm so sick of it from my first few weeks post op, I really didn't wanna put it in meat and purée it, but awesome suggestion, I may even try some cheese soup :-P

  8. I'm only weighing in Sunday's for my logs but still lol I'm not trying to obsess, I made this post because I wanted to make sure this was normal, that it wasn't me making a mistake etc :) here's my log ins for 1x a week. But yes for sure I am not gonna get tripped up on the # I started working out this week and Ofcourse I stopped losing lol hopefully my body catches up with the changes and I'll start losing again soon I have a vacation in August :-P post-174453-0-00838000-1468273815_thumb.jpeg post-174453-0-00838000-1468273815_thumb.jpeg

  9. @@Red_lips_and_confidence,

You must be feeling pretty good and recovering pretty well post-op if you’re thinking ahead to when you can eat candy! I’m sure you have already thought about the calories and would only eat them in amounts that will fit into your diet.

Others have already brought up the possibility of dumping syndrome. Everyone reacts differently to different foods, so you may or may not have a problem. If you do, you may at least be able to make it less severe by eating the candy – pure sugar – with something that slows digestion, like Protein and Fiber. You could try with nuts, which have Protein, fiber, and healthy fats that can slow digestion and maybe prevent dumping syndrome.

You can also try sugar free candies, but they have sugar alcohols and can also give your stomach trouble.

I am doing actually really well! My doctor said above average . I am not craving it , it's more out of Curiosity since I'm so much in the early stages I wonder what works for people in the future :) thanks for the suggestions ! A trail mix would be good!

  10. I feel like you someone said to me to measure and stop weighing more than once a week keep me posted on your progress good to know people going through the same

When did you have your surgery? When did you notice your stall? I will do measurements more so when I start weight lifting again cause that's when you gain muscles but lose inches. Right now I'm just walking so it's either Water weight or sodium from Soups, something idk! :-|

  11. I'm exactly 2 weeks post op and during this time I lost 16 lbs, but since Wednesday I've weighed 254 lbs (I usually weigh myself wed and Sunday and log it in my journal) I was cleared to work out so I've done 30 mins on the arc Trainor (it's like an elliptical) and walking around my neighbor hood etc. Been moving moving moving . I am getting plenty of fluids in and I get 75-80 GM Protein in. I'm following my plan I just don't know what's happening or what I'm doing wrong. I'm not drinking sugary drinks I only have Water, milk every few days, water, Protein Shakes, yogurt which is 0 everything, and now I'm on full Soups I'll do Tomato from Panera bread etc. maybe it's sodium from the soups? Is this normal? I know I already lost a significant amount which I wouldn't have been able to accomplish in a week let alone a month on my own but it bums me out to see that the scale hasn't moved in almost a week.
