I've been married for almost twenty years so I've been out of the dating scene for a long time but I run across the same situation with my work. I do a lot "wooing" of perspectives and it usually involves food.
Now, instead, I take them for coffee and dessert (skipping the dessert), frozen yogurt, or to walk around a community event to chat. Why not do something active instead? I don't think you need to spill your guts (or lack thereof) when you first meet, personally.
How exciting for you! I'm sure you will find the right match for you!

If someone makes it passed the generic "about me" info while getting to know someone then I have no problem telling them. Why would I? This has definitely been a lifestyle change for me. Plus, I don't think I would have a whole lot of fun going out to a big dinner; I can't tell you now many "all you can eat" sushi dates I've turned down.
Going to Jamba juice and then the park seem to be a great and active date.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses. Just do what's comfortable for you!!
Good luck!! I have to say, I'm honestly enjoying "dating" different people!!

This topic gets posted every couple of months, every time a new cycle of post-ops starts hitting their confidence stride in their weightloss, just do a VSG search on "dating".
To tell or not to tell, that is the big question apparently. I have not told, but then again, I've never been asked. If I were point blank asked, I would not lie, but who starts off a date by talking about the organ they've had removed? I mean, if you are under 65 that is. ;P
I imagine that it is easier for me, as a woman, nobody is going to question my miniscule portions (unfortunately! don't get me started on the psycho-social implications of THAT...) But for men, I imagine it is a bit more difficult, there are certain tricks you can do like anorexics do, cutting the food up strategically, hiding some foods underneath others, but that's probably not healthy and I don't recommend. Instead, just eat as you feel, stop when you must, and answer questions honestly - if asked. Also, dates ARE social occasions, you aren't there to eat really , so it is perfectlyl acceptable to do lots of talking and listening in between (tiny) bites.
And if all of that sounds like too much - just eat Japanese! Teensy plates of beautiful sushi are my trick for first dates

Just for the sake of losing weight alone it's good to switch things up. It does sound like you need more Protein though and need to find some food sources you like if the Protein shakes are making you ill. How about tuna or turkey with the cheese? I personally love feta cheese and have been adding some to my tuna. That gives me 21g of protein for just 2 oz of tuna and 1 oz of cheese.
    Good luck on your journey!

So, for some of us we never lost the hunger. That being said, the hunger isn't quite as bad as before surgery. Since I went through surgery it has been my focus to reach goal and during that process my habits have really changed. Now, I'm exercising daily and have a strong network of friends at the gym, I also stay within my eating plan and stay away from my trigger foods. In fact, if I'm going to indulge say in a bit of ice cream then first I have to exercise and burn at least the amount of calories I'm going to eat - usually when I do that I realize that I don't want to waste that exercise in something like empty calories and instead opt to have something healthier for me. Anyway, that's my experience and I'm almost 11 months out.

I am days away from my surgery and can't wait to start my journey toward better health and a new life.
I have a question. I know the basics, VSG is just a tool and I have to change my habits for success long term. VSG removes a lot of the hunger producing hormones. The stomach that is left can stretch a little over time. It is possible to regain weight after the first year or so. Emotional and "head hunger" will still be a battle.
My question for those that are a year or so out is this... Do you feel hungry and the urge to over indulge similar to before surgery? Do the hunger hormones build back up? I am so scared about going through this monumental life change only to fail and regain weight a few years later. If obesity was something I could control by developing better habits and eating less I wouldn't have spent 25 years of my life battling my weight and need surgery. I'm just worried about results long term. I have gained and lost a large amount of weight several times in my life and if this comes down to willpower in a few years I am not sure I can keep it off. I've never succeeded keeping it off before.
    Know what I mean?

    These lists are great!
    Can't wait to:
--Not be embarrassed to see friends that haven't seen me in a while
--Actually feel feminine again, would be nice to not feel invisible around men ...would love to run into my ex husband just to see the look on his face
--Wear clothes that aren't all stretched out and mishaped
--Be able to walk across a parking lot without feeling winded
--Pictures with my girls. I have three daughters and have only a few pictures of myself with them as they were growing up. It's almost like I didn't exist.
--I think the biggest one is not being so stinkin exhausted all the time

I'm looking forward to - doing more things with my 10 yr old daughter, my knee/hip pain going away, not having anymore fat rolls that my belt cuts into, not shopping at Lane Bryant, getting out of breath while walking upstairs, riding the coasters at Six Flags, fitting thru a turnstyle and hopefully falling in love with a great guy! My next 35 years are going to be FANTASTIC!!
