  1. I had gastric bypass in 2013. My regain began February 2015 because I stopped exercising, watching what I was eating etc. completely went back to pre surgery eating habits. After surgery I picked up a substance abuse addiction since I could no longer abuse food. In January 2015, i came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior and He delivered me from all drugs. At that point I went back to food (hence the weight gain) but now with His help I am getting to the root of why I abused food and other things in the first place. Our weight is byproduct of something deeper going on and getting surgery and losing the weight will not solve the root. It's important for us all to get healing from whatever it is that was causing us to abuse food in the first place. This journey has been a wild ride but I wouldn't trade it and where I am for anything.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Praise God!

  2. What Surgery did you have? And how long after your surgery did the regain start? My biggest fear is regain, I plan to monitor my weight closely to try and avoid any regain. I think I'm still in the losing stage though, I will be 1 year post op in 3 weeks.

I had the gastric sleeve surgery May 2013; 4 years ago. I started at 230 and my lowest weight was 145. I maintained my weight until last year around August when my mother got sick and I was traveling back and forth to be with her. I do not cook so I was eating pizza morning, noon and night. I started going crazy on food choices like candy and fruit that was not good for me.

The scale started going up. At one point I stopped weighing myself because I knew I was picking up weight because my clothes were becoming too tight; I needed to go up in size. I really believe I got over 160 at some point in time. I didn't see it on the scale, but I did see 159 when I did decide to face the fact and weigh in.

My Nut from Mexico, which was actually one of my doctors from surgery, told me to jot down everything I eat. He also told me to cut my carb intake down to 25. I started at 100 carbs a day and worked my way down. I now range between 28-37 on a good day.

I don't know if my weight is maintained better because I opted for a smaller stomach than the normal sleeve stomach (bougie instrument used in surgery). I'm not a person that exercise on a regular basis. I have started now because I want to tone my legs. I noticed that it does help me maintain.

Watch out for fruit. We think it's help, which it is a better choice than some foods, but it can contain a lot of Carbs. My doctor to me to eat berries and not too many cherries.

Good look in you journey. Just make yourself aware of the things you put in your mouth. Carbs are the enemy for sleevers.

  3. Well done to everyone who is on a losing streak, stayed the same or even gained but still came back - you are all winners.

I still can't get back on track. I seem to have a couple of good days but then fall by the wayside again and then find it hard to pick myself up.[emoji853]

We were with good friends at the weekend, who we have not seen for a few months, and the husband has joined Slimming world, ,my husband chatted to him and came away interested (he needs to lose weight) but said he would only go if I went with him. The reason being that they have very few males go and he didn't want to feel awkward. I feel in two minds - I want to go and support him but then I think it is going backwards (slimming clubs being part of my before (sleeve) life but I do want to get things back together and maybe SW would help.

Ms. Cathy don't give up; we all have those days. Some days seem to be harder than others. It's that time of the month for me and I want everything insight. I had some candy today and a open face sauage and cheese Mcmuffin. I'm not good at sticking to a diet plan. What helps me is watching my Carbs. Believe me some days are better than others but I have begin to make better choices. Hang in there. Our surgery is only a tool and sometimes we must resort back to some things that we had to do in the past to lose weight. You got this.

  4. I weighed in today at 231.2 so up 1.2lbs... so not a great week hoping to do better this week... I'm keeping the faith this week I have 2 birthday parties, a wedding on Friday and our anniversary getaway sat/sun...so I'll have to be really focused to make it to next Monday without any gain-- fingers crossed... just came back from a lunch hour spin class so I am trying [emoji4]

As long as you try, you will see results. Eat something before you go to the birthday parties and wedding. I remember as a kid my mother would always make me eat before going over someone's house or party. She did not want me out in public acting like I was starving. Lol. Enjoy your anniversary, just don't go crazy. Make choices like cut the portions you receive in half(have waiter take from table), no bread on the table or have an open face sandwich.

    Good luck!

    You seriously look fabulous!

Don't I know it about the thighs... my entire legs are my enemies. My legs will be the last to go. :( They've haunted me my whole life. Even as a kid. Sucked.

Which 12 week challenge? I've done the Nike XBox Challenge... way harder than I anticipated. If you don't jump high enough or wide enough or squat low enough, it doesn't count it. Dang, Gina! I'm doing a weights/resistance routine right now, plus an hour on the elliptical at least five days a week. It's helping me get there. I REEEEALLY want to be 160 by October. I need to consistently lose a pound a week.

I do the Idealshape 12 Week Challenge

  6. i'm here!!!
lol.. looking for that push too ~ almost 2yrs out, and while i haven't gained sig, i haven't lost like others have (on Facebook, Instagram) .. i know its not a competition, but i hate feeling like a "loser" [haha pun intended?]

You can do this. Look at your food intake. Can you stand to cut back on carbs? Are you getting your Protein in? Are you exercising? I hate exercising lol

  7. Liz, your picture is amazing! I know we all have a number we want to stay at, but you look fantastic! Great legs!!!

Slim Dreams, your story is tough. I'm so sorry about the miscarriages. Having a bad day is going to happen, but you are aware and are working on getting things back on track..... we can only do our best.

Thank you. I'm trying. My thighs are my enemies. I am trying to tone them by doing the 12 weeks challenge

  8. Last night I had A Jr. bacon cheese burger from Wendy's, a hand full of fries and a small lemonade with ice. This may sound bad but I only had a Protein Shake yesterday morning and about a cup of sunflower seeds the whole day. I picked the 15th of the each month to have my comfort food. I try not to go crazy. Usually I do an open face sandwich, I splurge last night. I did make sure I worked out before bed.

  9. So glad I am looking at this tonight. Exactly what I need. I am 10 months out tomorrow and the last 3 months I've been bad. Drinking
beer. Eating ice cream and candy.
Not everyday. A good week then two bad weeks etc. I will get on the scale in the morning and start from there. I actual think it's only been a few pounds of gain. But I should still be losing. I started at 211. August 15. I was down to 152 two weeks ago. I will restart the plan tomorrow. I have to do low carb and drink the shakes. It's a slippery slope for me with crackers and sweets. I'd prefer to eat rice than meat. Then I'm full of non nutritional food and feel sick.
Thanks to the original poster. Does anyone use my fitness pal? We could also keep track of each other there too?

Tomorrow may not come. Start today by not doing something you usually do. We usually have a habit of starting something tomorrow. We are now weighing in on Mondays. You have a feeling of were you are in weight. Make some changes today and take a picture of your weigh-in on Monday; you might be surprised.

Carbs are hard to cut out of a diet. If you cannot do 25 grams a day, start with 50 - 100 and work your way down. That worked for me. I consume an average of 35. There are some days I get in the twenties, but I am doing much better than I was.

I use Carb Manager app, because I do focus on my Carbs and Protein. Use the app that helps you accomplish your goals.

    Good luck to you.

  10. I am so thankful for this thread! I have re-gained at least a dozen times in my life 40-60-100 lbs. So I'm determined to not let it happen again. However... dum-dum-dum ... the scale hasn't gone down in two weeks and did go up... only one pound, which I know can be Water or anything, but I ALSO know that I've started to feel comfortable, and when I feel comfortable, I grab a little piece of chocolate at a party or have an extra glass of wine. So I needed encouragement.... and I found this thread. It's crazy how encouraging it's been reading all of your posts! I was ready to break down and have a snack, but just reading what you guys have been posting for the past couple of weeks has motivated me. I need to lose AT LEAST 15 more pounds.... I have to stay serious and not snack and cheat.
I always weigh Saturday, but I like what you guys have said about Monday's keeping you straight over the weekend. So I'm going to start weighing on Mondays as well!

Welcome to the losing and staying positive family. XOXO

  11. Do you think they were worth buying? I was thinking of picking some up- my husband has his snack bag of chips in the house and I thought it might be good to have an alternative near by in case my will started to be tested

You have have a problem snacking on chips then I would suggest them. Since I cut out a lot of Carbs, my cravings for chips went away. Just in case it returns (that time of month), I got something good to grab.
