  1. I am just over 3 weeks post op and still in the soft & mushy phase. I found two new recipes this week that are super yummy and loaded with Protein.

    Banana bread shake

1 scoop of vanilla Protein powder

    1/2 cup skim milk

    1/2 Water

    1/8 teaspoon vanilla

    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    1 tablespoon oats

1/2 large or one small banana (I freeze mine)

    6 ice cubes

Coming from someone who literally gags down protein shakes each morning' date=' I was super happy to find this!

    1 pound ground turkey

4 tablespoons of taco seasoning (I buy this in the huge jar from Costco) I think this is also equivalent to one taco seasoning packet, but not sure

    1 can of refried Beans

    Shredded cheddar cheese

Cook up the turkey and drain all of the juice. Add the seasoning mix and set aside. In a bowl, put the refried Beans and stir it up so it is spoon’able. Spoon the turkey into 10 Glad mini round containers (1/2 cup size), or whatever you want to store it in. Spoon on top of that the refried beans. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, pop the lid on and into the fridge they go. When ready to eat, pop one into the microwave for about a minute, and voila! Super yummy![/quote']

This sounds awesome! I'm going to have to try that when I'm on solid foods!!!!

  2. Okay for all of my March Sleevers I first want to congratulate you on the step we have taken to a better life both physically and mentally. With that being said I would like to share an article with you about Slider Foods. Right now I'm having trouble being around food. So I started to do some research and started to see a bright light at the end of my tunnel. I hope the article helps!!

  3. Well I weighed myself yesterday when i got home from the hospital and I gained 4 lbs! Lol! Not surprised as i had a 3 1/2 hour drive home from hospital which always causes edema. So I don't know when I'll get back on. I like the week after surgery day idea. For me' date=' that's next Wednesday.

Wondering how my 27th sleevers are feeling today: gas, pain, walking ( how often/long), etc.[/quote']

27th SLEEVER! I'm feeling pretty good except for one of the incisions. Hurts like hell. But gas pains is down significantly. I walked this morning for about 15 min. And I just went to the store with the family but only lasted about 20 minutes. I'm trying to push but not push too much!

  4. Hi I was sleeved by Dr Forrester on dec 26. My entire experience was great. He did an awsome job. I have not had any complications. I have no regrets . Wishing you a quick recovery. I truly hope everything goes well.

Yup was sleeved yesterday afternoon! I'm a little uncomfortable but not feeling too bad. Thanks for the good wishes! How are you doing with your weight loss?

  5. Yeah you don't want to graze! Try to keep a set schedule of when and what you eat. As far as the veggies, you can pretty much steam broccoli and cauliflower for example. As long as they're soft you should be good to eat them. If anything try to set up a plan with your NUT. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  6. So I've just completed class 8 out of 12. I'm glad I found this forum. I'm scared not sure what to look forward to' date=' but the end result I hope will outweigh it all. I'm hoping for some insight and advise.

I'm hearing about stalls and plateau at 3 wks out which I thought didn't really happen until a couple months out. Is this common?

Anyway I'm 30, married with 2 little boys. Started the program at 272, and I'm 265. Kaiser expects 10% weight loss while in Options Class.

I would LOVE to hear from you all

Ps I'm terrified about loose skin after weight loss... Can we see pics on here?

    Thanks guys![/quote']

The one thing you should definitely be looking forward to is a new you!!! Every person is different so stalls might happen at different points. People with a higher BMI are going to lose weight at a more consistent rate because they have more to lose. Remember that stalls will happen to EVERYONE! You might just have to change something up (excercise more or change your eating a little bit). And you have to be patient(something I'm not very good at but will have to learn soon). Being nervous and scared is perfectly normal. My surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday and I'm all over the place emotionally!!! In the end it's all worth it!!! Good Luck on your journey!

  7. I am being sleeved this Wednesday the 27th by Dr. Forrester at Overlook Hospital. If anyone has been sleeved by him or his team at NJ Bariatrics Center I would love to hear about your experience. Congrats to all who have been sleeved and good luck to future sleevers!

  8. The good thing about my Surgeon group is that they have a concierge program with the hospital that they're affiliated with and I was able to do EKG, Chest X-Ray, and Psych Eval in about 1 1/2 hours and I was on my way. I guess for some Dr's their pre-op requirements are different. I'm also on the 27th.

  9. I'm not a big fan of Tofu cuz I'm a real man and only pansies eat TOFU!!!! J/K but the cauliflower rice sounds AWESOME!!!!!! I'm pre-op and I'm gonna try the caul-rice this weekend after I get a new processor cuz the one I have at home is almost older than me I think!!! GOOD THREAD HI FIVE!!!!!!!!

  10. I pretty much decided on the sleeve over the Band for a couple of reasons. I didn't want a foreign object in my body. The chance of complications is high with slippage, adjusting, and material breakdown. I also spoke to a couple of Lap Band patients and have heard pretty much the same thing "If I could do it all over again I would've done the Sleeve". For some it just wasn't available at the time as a stand alone WLS. For others there just wasn't enough stats about the success of the sleeve so they decided on the Band. And the RNY is just too drastic and there's too much room for complications for my taste so I decided on the Sleeve. Bottom line is do your research and weigh out the Pros and Cons for you!!! Good luck on your decision.

  11. Mine is also next Wednesday!!! I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. Where r u having yours? I was told by my Surgeon to also have a acid reflux med like Prevacid or Zantac. Also heard a lot of sleevers say to bring a firm pillow for your stomach for when you're getting in and out of bed. If you look through the threads there have been some posts that people have put up that lists a whole bunch of things to bring and not to bring.

  12. Hi everyone! This is my first post on here. I feel a little weird. My surgery is March 27th. I'm actually a little scared not for what's to come but the fact that I'm going under. I'm very excited about what the future holds for me and my family. Just wanted to introduce myself. Good luck to future sleevers and congratulations to those who have taken the step to a new life!!! God Bless!!
