  1. Hi! My name is suzy and I am having surgery Wednesday. (the sleeve)

I found myself having second thoughts after learning about redundant skin. But I feel this surgery is what's best for me. any suggestions on how to help tighten up the excess skin? Please advise...

Drink Water, Water, and Oh did I mention water!!! It helps put the elasticity back into your skin. BUT depending on how big you were when you started you might have the extra skin regardless(which is the case for me unfortunately). Good luck!!!!

  2. OK' date=' I think I'm all caught up with the invites. I set up the group, but anyone who is a member can invite people, so if you are already a member and see someone posting here that they'd like to be added, you can go ahead and do it, so they don't have to wait for me to get to it.[/quote']

I've tried but since I do it from my phone for some reason it doesn't let me. I'll try again hopefully it'll work.

  3. Wow all of you are BIG LOSERS!!! I congratulate you!!!!!! Since surgery I've lost 30#'s. Pre and Post Op I've lost a total of 61#'s!!!

Now for my question, how much are you eating at a sitting? 4 oz? 6 oz? 8 oz? Or are you eating till full? Today I feel like I've eaten a lot more than yesterday. I'm getting concerned, I don't want to stretch my sleeve out!

  4. I am a week myself! I do experience feelings of hunger very often even after sipping my liquids...I do drink more than an ounce...I feel a bit defeated

The liquid phase after the procedure, in my opinion, is the worst and hardest. I had mine done on 3/27, right before Easter. That Easter Sunday at my family's house was bad, I left the room. That's how I dealt with it. And as far as the food goes, I can't believe how little I'm eating. Thing is, I'm full. Just trust your Dr and NUT's plan.

  5. Hello Everyone! I'm (reluctantly' date=' work related) a Jersey girl...Spotswood / Englishtown (Middlesex) area. Had my surgery on March 25, 2013 with Dr. Glassnap from NJ Bariatric Center, Springfield. I can happily say things seem to be going well so far. Anybody from around my area?[/quote']

Not from your area but had my procedure done with Dr. Forrester from NJ Bariatrics Center.

  6. Lol ... I remember that stage it did suck ... Be careful with the pain in your chest ' date=' don't just ignore it . That's a great loss , I'm a slow loser and so far I'm down 66 in 6 months hey ill take it ... things are even slower now going into my 7 month but I'm pretty positive that I will get to goal ( another 40 lbs ) ...[/quote']

That's awesome!!! Yeah I ate too much this morning, I think that's why I had the chest pain. I just ate about an hour ago and listened to my body a little more, AND NO CHEST PAIN! AWESOME!!!

It's so good to hear that you're close to your goal! I'm still along ways from mine.

  7. Wow .... I don't remember all that lol .... Cool ... How's it going for you ???

I actually just had my first mushy food since the surgery. And it sucks!!!! I have this pain in my chest that comes and goes. But other than that everything is good! Lost almost 60lbs since I started my journey in January. So overall I'm happy!

How are things going for you?

  8. It has been 4 weeks since my surgery and I am still trying to get back all my strengh. I never have been one for excerise since I have been so out of shape and too heavy to move. When I did move my knees and feet would hurt too much and I became out of breathe so fast. I know I should have started excerising before this but I just want to be careful that I do not cause any problem with my incions. Well' date=' 6 days ago I decided to take baby steps so I began (don't laugh) walking for 1 minute on my treadmill and did that for 3 days on a row then moved up to 2 minutes my 1st goal is to walk a whole whopping 5 minutes every day. I should reach that goal in a few days from now. I also bought myself stretch bands and started doing leg and knee excerises today. Once I reach my goal of walking 5 minutes each day, I will work up to walking an amazing 10 minutes each day. My ultimate goal is to walk 40 minutes each day. I really am not used to making time for myself so this is all new to me. Just doing something to help me for a change is going to take time so these baby steps are what I need to do. I am so impressed that some of you are already up and walking 30 minutes each day since your March surgeries. I am so proud of all of you for getting out there and moving.[/quote']

Thank you for sharing your story!!! And you know what, you should be proud of yourself also. You've found a way to progress. Whether it be baby steps or pushing yourself to no end. Fact is you're doing it and that my friend is AWESOME!!!!

  9. Can someone please explain to me in simple terms what slider effect is? And does everyone go thru a stall ?

Hey I found this article on slider foods and it helped me understand it better.

    http://5daypouchtest.com/articles/art002.html

And as far as stalls, I think eventually everyone goes through one. I think the biggest thing is to try not to get too frustrated. The most common stall is the 3 week stall. I think it's because many people are transitioning to mushy or purée foods and the body needs to adjust(that's just my logic don't quote me on it).

  10. Well' date=' I took my first trip to Whole Foods today.....I bought a few things for when i go on regular foods in a couple of weeks. So while I was there, my kids were going around getting samples from all of the little sample people, and we come to one table where they had different chesses and preserves to taste together, an before i knew it i had tried the goat cheese and strawberry-basil preserve......OMG, it was DELICIOUS, then i realized what i had donedde30. So the good thing is that i am on day five of pureed foods and smooth cheese is included in that, but i really thought it would have that "slider" effect but nope new tummy was fine even with the preserves.....I will definately be more careful for the next few weeks though, until i'm cleared for regular diet. But I LOVE Whole Foods...these are some things i bought to try when I can.......

Sent from my iPad using VST[/quote']

How were the prices? That's the one thing that worries me about shipping at whole foods, PRICES! The last thing I want is to break my budget.

  11. Has anyone made bad food or drink choices since you've been sleeved?

I'm not going to lie I was close. With Easter dinner it was one of the hardest things to deal with. BUT I conquered, removed myself from the situation and had some Water and some ice pops!!! THANK GOD FOR ICE POPS!!!!! I feel right now we really don't have any room for error and we have to be as strong as can be in the beginning!
