  1. I can't either. I am just short of three weeks out and there's no chance right now. I just do the best I can.

    Milk

I drink skim milk every day too. I am 18 days post op. It's on my plan too. It's so strange how different doctors are. I really believe that the "rules" are somewhat flexible. Just meaning that each of us have to find what works for us. I don't mean to go crazy with food/drink or anything, but I think there is some wiggle room. My doc told me the other day to be careful about eating eggs, but I had already been eating them for days with no problem.

24 and 10 days post op

I went to a Kentucky Derby party 3 days before my surgery. A friend had smoked a whole hog and mint juleps were everywhere. It was hard, but I kept my water glass in my hand at all times to keep them occupied. I drank a shake right before I went. I took a protein drink mix with me too just in case, but didn't need it. I just focused on socializing. No one noticed I didn't eat.

    Protein problems

Since you guys are talking Turkey Jerky, can you recommend a brand/type?

    Hi yall!

Just had to say welcome. I love that fact that you used the word "y'all". As a Tennessee girl, it is part of my regular vocabulary!

    Outpatient?

My doctor was going to send me home the same day as surgery. However, I asked to stay the night. For me, it was logistical. However, I was glad I stayed. Being on the pain drip significantly helped me be more comfortable. I don't think it's a terrible thing to have the surgery done outpatient. If you trust your surgeon, know that he has a great reputation and are comfortable with him, that's what matters. Best of Luck!

    Low carb headache?

I have suffered from headaches for the first week every single time I started cutting sugar from my diet. It also happened when I did my pre-op diet. I would say they are "normal" for me at least. I agree with the tylenol suggestion. It helped me some, but I just had to suffer through it until my body adjusted. Good Luck!
  8. I had a scratchy throat for several days. My voice was actually different for close to a week because of it. But, it didn't really hurt. It was more like when I have really bad seasonal allergies. It felt more dry than anything. I never needed anything for it, but the pain meds you will have will help too if you have a sore throat.

    Another pregnant sleever

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am sorry you had such a hard time finding a doctor. My hubby is an Ob/Gyn and he has absolutely no problems treating people afterwards. It makes for such a better pregnancy than before! Best of luck to you!
  10. Sounds normal to me as long as you don't feel like you need to go and can't. I came home from the hospital 10 lbs heavier than when I went in, so I would not worry about the 2 lbs. It took me almost a week to get back to my original weight. Good Luck!

Anyone tried Spark for an pre- workout energy boost?

obviously I missed your sentence about the caffeine...sorry for repeating!

Anyone tried Spark for an pre- workout energy boost?

Spark has a whole lot of caffeine in it. I believe (if my memory is correct) that it has as much as two cups of coffee in one packet. It's been a while since I've looked it up. I would just worry about dehydration. My Nutritionist and doctor do not recommend that much caffeine. I haven't looked at the sugar content, but I know their Protein shakes have a lot. I have three unused boxed of them that I won't drink b/c of the sugar. I have friends who swear by it (and sell it) but I never loved the Spark. My husband also said he couldn't sleep at night if he drank it after noon.
  13. had my 2 week followup today and I was down 15 pounds. The day I came home from the hospital, I was 10 lbs. heavier than they day I went in!

    Anyone eating cheviche?

Isn't there some sort of citrus juice in it? That would be my concern---the acid from the lime or lemon juice. But, it sounds like other people handle it well. Most that I have ever eaten have LOTS of citrus b/c that's what "cooks" (for lack of a better term) the seafood. Good luck!

    pre op diet

Your doctor's office will give you their approved plan. Most, it seems, do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet that includes a lot of liquid protein. Some doctors do not require this. Your surgeon should also arrange for you to meet with a nutritionist to explain their requirements. Wait and see what they say.

    What are your "go-to" foods?

hummus is my go-to right now. I just eat it alone. I love it. I'm two weeks out today. I still drink 2 protein shakes a day too though b/c I can't get anywhere near enough protein through food yet. I just can't eat enough of it.

    Hi everybody!

Welcome. This forum has been invaluable to me. I'm 2 weeks post-op today. I wish you all the best!

    BJs Bariatrics?

I had an opposite experience. I ordered and had it within three days, no problem. So sorry you're having such trouble. Hopefully they will make it right!

cake batter muscle milk protein shake

I have some cupcake batter flavor protein from a company called All the Whey. It is wonderful. I think it was 30g protein, 100 calories and 2 carbs (off the top of my head) for a scoop. But, they have now gone out of business and I am so bummed. I'm trying to ration what I have left. They also had one that was cinnamon bun flavor that was good. I wish they would come back! I may have to try yours now!

    Pre-op diet?

I bought the unjury unflavored protein and added it to soups. (cream of chicken strained was my favorite). Some people say they can taste the protein, but I couldn't at all.
  21. Day 10 woke up feeling solo much more normal! Hang in there!
  22. I have to say that I understand where you are coming from. However, it is easier said than done! I was not perfect on my pre-op diet, but that doesn't mean that I don't want/hope to be successful. food is an addiction for many (most) of the people on this forum. If it was just that easy to make the change, most of us wouldn't have to have surgery. I am only 12 days out and have not "cheated" post op. But, I have a long way to go and don't expect not to falter ever. I think trying to be "perfect" has set me up for failure in the past b/c I put too much pressure on myself. I do understand what you mean about some of the more egregious choices people have made though. I am glad I haven't caved to temptations like some.

    Struggling

Haven't had this experience, but wanted to say that I hope things improve for you soon! Hang in there!

    should i get a scale

I couldn't stay off it either (I am 12 days post-op). I had my husband put it high up in a closet where I cant reach it. he's going to get it down for me to weigh once a week. It probably would be good for me to not own one!
  25. nervousnellie

    Full?

I'm 11 days out. I haven't eaten mashed potatoes but I imagine they wouldn't make me full either. I have been enjoying hard boiled eggs. A half of one fills me up. And hummus has been great too!
