  1. Good luck tomorrow. Think pleasant thoughts and try to relax. Your gonna be home in a flash wondering if anything actually took place. The only proof will be the pounds dropping off. Yay.
  2. They loaded you up on fluids and stuff in the hospital, so a few days of lax intake isn't gonna harm you. When you drink, you take in air with the fluids and the air (gas) is what is probably causing you the pain. You'll get better at it and the swelling will subside and things will get easier. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Watching the weight drop is such a pleasure.
  3. Check with your PCP beforehand. Or if you have a Cardiologist, they might have a different opinion. My Cardiologist is the one that both prescribed and monitored my taking Lovenox and when to resume other medications after my surgery. (over riding my Surgeons orders) Walking is the best deterrent for DVTs. It's not only about if you might have a clot, but how a clot might affect you specifically. Some it could be the lungs, others the heart, or even the legs. Prevention is not uniform. Ask your docs about your specific needs.
  4. Absolutely fantastic job Chris. I have no other words. I hope to follow in your footsteps. Keep up the great progress.
  5. I can't believe this post is still going. All this controversy and I'm not involved. I can't have that, I must get my two cents in. Just yesterday the news was blasting all day about it being partly cloudy here. And there is just no way that is true. It was most certainly partly sunny. Nuff said.
  6. Don't fret the Cardiologist. Embrace it. Like you said, it's the only heart you have and it has a sneaky tendency of causing problems rather sudden and unexpectedly. A while back, I had a heart attack right out of the blue and when I was the lightest & fittest I'd been in 10 years. My Cardiologist saved my life and since then, she is voice that I consider above all others.
  7. careful with the puree. I really didn't have any restriction it seemed with the full liquids stage. Been a couple of days on puree and I certainly know my sleeve's limits now. Don't confuse puree as similar to liquids. It fills the pouch and moves slowly on thru. Eat slow and small bites and stop at any sign of feeling a little blocked or pressure type pain in the chest. Your full. For me it was about 3.5 oz. Four was too much. You try that extra bite, you're gonna hurt.
  8. Surgery on Tuesday and eating what.....????? He should be on fluids only. I don't really see being able to eat more as a better thing. After all, restriction is what a sleeve is all about.
  9. If you were driving him back and forth, then you used a car. So not being able to drive.......wouldn't it be reasonable to assume you don't need the car your're using to drive him to the station. Let him drive himself and leave it at the station. Just bustin your chops......far as I know narcotics (pain meds) is the only restriction. I drove home from the hospital.
  10. Barring any injuries to your joints, (which being obese could easily do) my guess would be that at your heavier weight, you moved around a whole lot less. Your body is just taking some time to get used to things moving and stretching again. Give it time.
  11. PDXman said it perfectly. It doesn't matter what the forum, the dissatisfied or unsuccessful vent in forums and the others move on and enjoy new leases on life. I belong to a forum about knee and hip replacements. Reading the forum, I figured the success of my knee replacements was not much more than a crap shoot. Mine went very well and I tried to stay with the forum to assure others. Needless to say, I now rarely visit the forum as my knees are no longer any concern to me. It just happens. My Sleeve surgery couldn't have gone any better and my weight loss is progressing well. I intend to take all I can get from this forum and again, I will try to offer encouragement to others. But alas, I am already excited about getting smaller and what lies ahead, so I expect I will visit here less frequently as well. Good luck with your decision.
  12. Idle mind thingy.....food creeps in. Do more workouts.....start a project.....get busier. It's probably just the head hunger thing. Fight it off and get back to it.
  13. My choice was different than alot of others. I'm up there in years and the clock is ticking. Add in some co-stuff and I become a ticking time bomb. The minute I found out I qualified and could get it done, my mind was made up. No looking back since.
  14. Miami here. In today's hand numbing 65 degrees........(sorry everybody up North, I just had to throw that in there, LOL) oops, forgot......Sunny too....
  15. Wow, 109 lobs in five months. You are obviously doing what is right. And even in light of your temporary setbacks, you know what to do to keep the weight coming off. Just keep doing it. You'll get there. Terrific results. Don't let any negatives get to you.
  16. My mindset is not really based on what's the norm or recommended . I intend to just go by the results I get. I don't care about goal weight. I have some clothes from 30 years ago when I was the size and shape I want. When I fit into them, I'm there. And as far as calories. When I reach that goal, I'm gonna eat what feels necessary and comfortable........if I gain....I'll adjust to not gain. Whatever the calories are, they are.
  17. I sometimes have difficultly with support groups because they can be enabling. I wasn't even gonna comment on your post, cause I'd probably get flamed by a dozen others. Ya know, "if you can't say something good or supportive don't say anything". But here it is. This surgery is serious. they are removing organs from your body. Complications can happen. And whatever the outcome, it's permanent. All this and it will still demand the most effort from you to be successful in the long term. My opinion means nothing, but I just feel based on your present viewpoint, you're not ready. Everybody is not right for this surgery. Have you been to the shrink yet. Most approvals require it. Maybe that should be your next step. Good luck with your choice.
  18. Impacted is something you do not want to ignore or waste time messing around with what doesn't work. It will only get worse and you will get to a point you want to go to the ER and have 'em get it out with a rooter router. Go to the drug store and get a bottle of Magnesium Citrate. It taste like unsweetened koolaide. Drink it down and all will better in about an hour or so. It will completely clean you out and is very easy on the system as well.
  19. It's not really a diet trial or nutrition class. "It's a six month opportunity for you to change you mind or give up and the insurance won't have to pay" - trial.
  20. Most important for that 3 hr ride is to stop often and get out and walk some. Sitting long periods is not good. The walking will help ward off DVTs. (clots)
  21. My cardiologist made the call. She wanted me monitored for two nights in the hospital. Still, one day would have been rough.
  22. I am also still on liquids and I haven't really found a restriction on the liquids. Occasionally I feel some pressure if I gulp, but I can put away 12oz. fluids rather quickly. soup too. My assumptions are the liquids pretty much go straight thru without much if any restriction. I'm sure puree and foods will be very different.
  23. Before surgery.?! My guess would be, just about everyone. I ate all the time. That's how I got so big. I don't quite understand why you would think your hunger would diminish before surgery. That's kinda the point of getting the surgery. As far as the pre-op diet. Mine was liquid only, and it was a bear the first two days. Then I just kept telling myself, "don't blow it, the surgery is very soon now. You'll get thru it.
