2 days out
Your body is your normal......Different strokes for different folks. Your body is your best indicator of what is normal for you. If you're tired, get more rest. If you're in pain, take some pain meds. As far as what to do since surgery. Follow the docs instructions and stick with the post surgery mantra. You're gonna feel lots better in a very short time.

Pre op liquid hell
What they all said. Just keep thinking......."after all this waiting, this is the final stretch. Don't blow it. I want a good outcome to my surgery.....I can do this.....only a few more days......eat a Popsicle.....get busy doing something to take my mind off of it" We all made it..... you will too.

Should I be concerned about calories this early?
Funny thing. I lost alot the first week and then in week two I stalled. I ate less, (400cal.) drank more, added more Protein and the scale didn't budge. I read stuff on here and some said eat more calories. Sounded unlikely, but I was discouraged anyway. So I had to work hard to eat more than twice the calories, logged in with fitness pal and noticed how with my biking and walking I was still only netting about 800 a day even with eating so much. Low and behold, instead of gaining like I thought, the scale went down. Go figure. Something to do with starvation mode when you eat too little. Who would have thought I'd actually have to work at eating MORE to lose more. Whatever the reasoning, I'm gonna follow more of what is suggested and less of what I think should work. I don't know why I'm surprised.....my way of eating never worked for me before, so I will be relearning everything since WLS,

Sent home with picc line...nothing by mouth for 2 weeks?
And was there a reason for this or is this just your Surgeons usual practice? Seems quite overboard.

protein
I have no idea what your eating and drinking. But I found I could meet my Protein easily with fluids due to high Protein drinks and shakes and no limit on Fluid. But with food, a measly 3 oz of anything is just not that much protein. I end up supplementing it with protein drinks or powder. Food just doesn't have that much for the little amount we can eat and if you don't watch the amount the calories will be too high. Very tough balance. I think if you track your actual ounces and protein in your food, you might find it to be low instead of over.

Protein protein protein!
when asking for suggestions on protein drinks it would help to avoid redundancy if you would specify the ones you have already tried and don't like.

Flying questions
Check the seating, depending on the aircraft, the back rows go from three to two seats. With your husband there would be no one next to you, plus a little more elbow room.

No drain tube after VSG?
I didn't have a drain tube at all and I was in the hospital for 3 days.

Post-op Pain Control? IV Tylenol? Not convinced.
I wouldn't waste an IV on Tylenol. I had the good stuff (morphine) whether I needed it or not. Relaxed me and my pain was zero. They kept asking me to try Lortab, Tramadol, blah blah blah. I'd just keep telling 'em the other stuff doesn't work on me and the pain was a 6-8 and they'd kept giving me the morphine. Yay. Why be in any pain at all.

Insurance approves!
My feelings exactly. You kinda mope along jumping thru all the hoops month after month, then.....the call and it starts fast tracking. Before you know it your headed into the hospital and your home in a flash. Like it didn't happen. So relax, your're gonna be logging lost pounds in a flash.

Confused! Calories high or low...?
Just goes to show you, everybody's got an opinion. So who's do you follow?. I'd just try and see what works for you. The body has a funny way of doing what it wants. You just have to find out what that is and beat it at it's own game.

Advise for those with no supportive help after surgery.
I live alone as well. And it's just not that big a deal to bother going overboard prepping. I drove home from the Hospital and went to the store the same day to get in some walking. I really didn't find anything limiting after getting home. Going out gives me something to do. I just carry my Water bottle with me everywhere with Isopure Protein drink in it. And try to remember not to lift anything heavy for awhile. (month)

How long were you on clear Liquids after surgery?
Whatever the liquid plan, sounds like the basic idea is to avoid any actual food for about a month and then the soft stuff. My Doc said at a month the scar tissue should have the staples covered and I should be good to go for both foods and release to the GYM for weight related workouts. I'm anxiously waiting for both.

How long were you on clear Liquids after surgery?
clears for 2 days in Hospital, then full liquids for two weeks, puree for another two weeks.

Hit my 9 month mark--almost to goal weight before/after photos
In the before pic you are very attractive. In the after you're just plain HOT.

4 mos out and life has changed! (With pics!)
You look like the first pic's daughter.

help me understand...
For me it was the fact that I would only fit so much food into my sleeve and if I tried to fit more, I'd regret it painfully. Plus with only a limited availability of food if I chose the wrong types (like low in protein) my body would suffer. I'd become weak and tired and sickly. So I use that limited space to put the optimum items I can find following the WLS mantra. To simplify, I have no choice anymore. (which is exactly what I needed because mine were all wrong.)

after surgery
Hey, if the walking isn't cutting it for ya gas wise......no matter, it's the best thing for DVT (clots) prevention anyway. Another little trick I used for gas. I have a adjustable bed, so I raise the feet and turn on the vibrator. Works great.
-
after surgery
Same for me. For some reason I found I could relieve the gas easier when I was laying prone on the couch watching TV.

da Vinci
If your up to it, here is YouTube video of the Robotic surgery.
-
da Vinci
Yep, I watched a video of my Surgeon using the DaVinci for the sleeve. Really cool. He said it's much more precise and provides more range and no fatigue to surgeon. Also the advantage of 3D view. He did the sleeve and both a heital and umbilical hernia repair on me. Went perfectly.

lovenox
I've had many surgeries and Lovenox is pretty standard post-op. I did it twice a day for 7 days, the same as you did. As said above, not a big deal for the peace of mind of clot prevention.

Weight gain!
Hmmmmm, lets see....... having sleeve surgery......losing weight, then gaining a bit......picking the healthy over the fatty foods.......worrying about things going right.......yep.....pretty much everybody on here. Relax, your doing fine.
