  1. Hello, I'm Jennifer. I'm on my way to having VSG within the next few months, and one of my main concerns is my job. I'm a caterer and culinary instructor. In other words, food is my bread and butter - pun intended ;-) Has anyone else who's in the food industry been through the process? I guess what I'm looking for is your stories, tips, etc. so I can have an idea of what I'll be up against.

    Hmmm.....do I know you?

  2. I'm so sorry. I can't even begin to imagine your pain. Just have faith that it was God's will & that He will bring you another one soon. Be sure that one day you will be reunited with your child as they are in heaven waiting for you when it's your turn to go there. Peace, love & healing be with you.

  3. I'm with you Pixie Dust! I am 17 days post op and I have been hungry since about Day 5... I'm doing all my fluids, take a PPI, and try to vary my Proteins between chicken and beef broth with unjury and my shakes, but truly, I just MISS eating! I fantasize all the time about what I want to eat! I have absolutely no desire for junk... I want meat, vegetables, and I want to enjoy food. I DO feel full with liquids, but it's not the kind of "full" that is like a belly of real food... even if I can only have a small amount once the healing part is over, I know that will satisfy me more than living on liquids!

Like you, I want meat & some nice grilled veggies! OMG I could just drool thinking about it right now!

  4. I don't think I've ever seen a ride with a weight limit posted, but then again, I've only been to Disney & Universal. Never 6 Flags but what a tragedy & her kids were sitting behind her??????!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!! What a tragedy for sure & those poor kids!!!! Whether she was overweight or not, I firmly believe its the amusement parks fault for even allowing her on & then disregarding that she said her bar hadn't clicked correctly! Shame on them. At the very least the attendant should be fired & compensation made to the family but how do you put a price tag on your own mother??!! I'm so saddened!!!

  5. I was a week post op yesterday & I just did my big walk (up 6 houses & back) just walking my dog. I'm exhausted now too. :-( I hope it gets easier. I'm not driving yet either, therefore, my son is taking my husband's truck & my husband is taking my van to work so I have no wheels anyway but I'm not ready to go out in public either.

I feel hungry all day long too & if I just do something simple like this morning I made scrambled eggs & toast for my oldest son & after finishing, I had to sit down cause I was all dizzy & shakey. Wonder what all that is about??

  6. I forgot to mention the dry mouth! OMG! That was almost worse than anything else! I felt like someone stuffed cotton balls inside my mouth. I used that mouth sponge they gave me to rub all over my mouth, gums, etc...nothing worked but ice chips when they finally let me have them. I had to stop saying I felt nauseous before they let me have some tho! My mouth was dry for nearly the entire week after returning home. No matter what I was drinking, it felt dry until about 2 days ago (I'm 8 days post op today).

  7. I went to two diff weight loss centers before I decided which one to go with (even tho I knew I wanted the sleeve) & both strongly discouraged the band. So I think slowly but surely, everyone is getting on board but hopefully he won't have any problems because there are many just waiting for that poor man to fail! I'm sorry for all those that have had issues. I'm sure they weren't fun at all & then be brave enough to be sleeved after all that! God bless you all!

Nursebarbie, I meant no disrespect with my original response to your post either...hope you could tell that.

  8. Well, I know what you're getting at, but I do wish him well with it anyway. I have other friends who have had the lap band & they haven't encountered any problems & some were done years & years ago. I guess it just depends on the person. I just pictured that poor man exploding one day & he has young children....I wish him the best.

  9. Wow...you're just a cute tiny thing! Beautiful~ Congratulations! Don't feel bad for waiting till you were 42 because it could be worse, you could be like me & waited till you were in your 50's! :-( That's my regret. I was only sleeved a week ago (today) but I still wish I had done this 10 years ago. Better late than never!

  10. I am keeping it pretty quiet too. My one neighbor asked me what I had surgery for because one of my kids told them I was just home from the hospital & I told him I had a hernia repair. Done. It's no one's business as far as I'm concerned. Good luck whatever you decide!

  11. Ahhh...yes, I had those leg squeezers on too, but I had a catheter so I got to rest ~ well sorta! I too had a nausea aversion to the pain meds so they had to give me an anti nausea med to help me not want to barf. I still felt like I might so each time I pushed the pain pump, I grabbed the handy pink pail & stuck it under my mouth...just in case. Never did vomit tho ~ thankfully. I was sent home with anti nausea meds too as well as pain meds.

What made my experience horrendous was that I was in the room with a crazy lady! She had the bed by the window & she screamed all night long. So nurses & techs were coming & going all night long with machines on carts & each time they passed my bed, they bumped into it, sending me jolting half out of my bed! Same with just walking back & forth, I can't tell you how many times some worker tripped on my bed, which jolted my bed again.

At one point the lady started screaming to the nurses "Kill me, please Kill me!" By that point, I was ready to chirp up & say to the nurses "if you don't, I WILL!" So much for being a good Christian! OMG that lady just about killed me that night, not letting me rest for more than 10 mins at a time. So I complained to anyone & everyone who would listen to me & about 6am, they moved me to another room!

I went from Hell to Heaven. They moved me into a room with the SWEETEST 92 y/o lady! I would have brought her home with me if I could. She was so concerned if her TV was too loud for me (where the other crazy one left her TV on all night at the loudest volume). Her machine kept going off & beeping if she moved her right arm for some reason & she'd be all upset that I had to hear the beeping. By that point, after what I had endured in the other room, it really didn't bother me but I did ring the nurses to ask if they could unbeep her arm (haha). One of them showed me how to do it too but I was afraid, just in case it meant something. We both nearly cried when it was time for me to be released....I hope she's doing fine but she had heart & renal problems....poor thing. Anyway, I got both the bad & the good all rolled up in one 24 hour period at the hospital!

I also was assigned a nurse's assistant who had been on the job (from school) for her second day. She was the BEST assistant ever too. So gentle, so kind & so caring. Hope she will remain that way as time goes on. The nurses were abusing her ~ making her do everything while they did nothing. Then again, I don't know how hard the nurses were working with others. I can only post what I saw happening to me.

So that's my story & I'm sticking to it! :D

  12. Well, I think you were beautiful before too but now, you're drop dead gorgeous. I wouldn't like you in person. :D You know, would hate to stand next to you since you're so beautiful! ;) Hehe.....hope you know I'm kidding about the not liking you part. You should be the poster child for before & after because the after is just breathtaking!

I bet you feel just awesome too! Are you at goal now?

  13. All I can say is: I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!!!! What a difference 52 lbs make! Of course when you think of it in sticks of butter, 4 sticks to a pound package, you've lost 208 sticks of butter! Mound that up on a table for the visual! HOLY COW, you look GREAT!!!!!!!
