How Soon Can I Resume My Pre-Sleeve Eating Lifestyle?!?!

[quote name="Lisa ] Another one I love is "Make it a choice' date=' not a cheat"!!! I love it because if we are truly making a lifestyle change then there should never be a reason to "cheat". Cheating implies that we shouldn't have something. Why shouldn't we? Even those "normal" people without food issues/addictions eat foods that are not "healthy". The way I see it, if you're going to eat cake, pizza, candy, whatever....make the CHOICE to eat it AND enjoy it, understand what that type of food does to your body (i.e. blood sugar spikes) and then move on and get back on track!!! I don't deprive myself of anything!! My goal in having surgery was not to NEVER eat something unhealthy ever again. My goal was to develop and healthier relationship with food....which is a work in progress, but nonetheless, progress!!! Great topic!! And I hear you Amanda Rae....sometimes the things people say here drives me nuts!! Most of the time I just don't respond becasue I realize that I'm being too judgemental and/or it's not my place to speak my mind. Like Measureofme said, we're all at different points in our journey. Hopefully, we'll all find our way!!![/quote'] Perfectly said!

How Soon Can I Resume My Pre-Sleeve Eating Lifestyle?!?!

I am 2 weeks out. Sure, I read my literature from the doc, but coming on here so much, I tried to weed out carbs at 1 week when puréed foods started. I had pain, I lost slowly, I was tired. I looked over my list 3 days ago, and it says to start with soft carbs...potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat. I decided to keep it natural, but added potatoes to my string cheese and Beans. I also drank apple juice which went down delightfully. I went from losing 1.5 every other day...to -1, -1.6, -1 the last three days. And I've felt alive. Until my weight loss slows, I will have fruit and veggies that some will condemn, because it seems to work for my body. For me, Chinese take-out can be very healthy too! That said.....sometimes I want to SLAP these people, lol lol! I read, "Cake is a soft food, right?" Seriously?!?
  3. Was anyone else given an inhaler (albuterol) after surgery? I'm curious why I was given one...though I did have a bit of a cold when I went in. I forgot to use it at home until yesterday (day 10).....so I'm curious.

    Emotions of defeat?

Zoloft is NOT an option...especially while you're going through all of this! I'm glad you're back on. This is emotional enough without missing doses. I'm only 11-12 days out (it's the middle of the night), and it's still hard, but I feel MUCH better than I did just a few days ago. One day at a time....

    Recovery questions

The pain isn't deep...like way in your muscles. The food getting "stuck" is hard to explain until it happens, but it's not as bad as it sounds. I had a REALLY bad gall bladder removed at the same time, and have had pain longer than most (I'm 11 days out). But it really isn't that bad. Not NEARLY as bad as my emergency c-section....and I would do that all over again too
  7. Girl....this was my biggest fear (Date: 3/29). I am sssoooooo sorry this happened to you. But....it's a child. This specific egg at this specific time. Must be someone very, VERY special. And maybe this baby is saving your life. Maybe your surgery would have gone terribly wrong, you never know! I am so sorry, and I understand your mixed emotions completely. I'll be praying for you....and that miracle baby!!!!

We're sleeve sisters! I was the 29th too, with similar losses....but I'm in the puréed stage. I did my elliptical for the first time yesterday....for about 4-5 minutes, lol. It's a start. I HATE walking outside out here in the country....too many things to bite me.

I am WAY out in the country, so I agree, lol. That would be great! They also have one Friday morning at Starbucks at 7am. I'm an at-home mom, but I don't know if you work. There are a few options, and it will be GREAT to go together! PS- Sorry you had such a rough food day
