  1. I wouldn't resort to gimmicks' date=' but just eat the way you are supposed to. Eat whole foods, Protein first, and work out with some kind of really difficult strength training 3X each week. Them, be happy with 1-2 pounds per week. We really both need to get away from daily weighing I think, because we both know deep down that you just can't physiologically lose a pound of fat day after day. I think the initial spectacular results of the sleeve kind of blind us to the fact that even starving, or fasting people can't lose a pound a day for very long. It's just not sustainable.

This might be the best thing I've read in here EVER! I've actually considered going back to HCG. I could eat even LESS and lose MORE. Then I decided that it is all bull. I'm going to eat normal healthy food and enjoy my slow (about 2 pounds a week) losses. Learning to live a non-obsessive food life and LOVING it!

  2. I am scheduled for my sleeve on may 31st. How long after can I get back in the gym? I like to mix up my cardio with oliptical' date=' stairmaster and precor and rowing. Is walking going to be my only cardio for the first couple of weeks or so? Please enlighten me - thanks everyone[/quote']

I had to wait 6 weeks.

  3. I had my breast reduction and lift' date=' insurance approved, last week. The surgery was 4.5 hours and outpatient. I was a 40 F before the sleeve and a 36 DDD before the reduction, after losing 75 lbs. The surgery wasn't too bad. There isn't as much pain as I thought but I'm so wiped out! I should've taken more than a week off work. I've posted some pics so that you can see what I week post op looks like. Not as gruesome as you'd think. I have a lot of swelling, especially laterally. That will take about 6 weeks to go away. I also posted two "before" shots. Although embarrassing, it was helpful to me to see other people's photos. Sorry that a couple are upside down. I have no clue how to fix that.

Thanks for sharing this! I want a lift when I'm done, but not a reduction. However your boobs look perfect! What size were you reduced to?

  4. Whatever gets you to the gym I guess. I enjoy my gym sessions' date=' but they are a little easier to enjoy than wiping my ass....because it's slightly less messy, but takes nearly as long.[/quote']

*le sigh....I was referring to the topic: MOTIVATION. You don't need to be motivated, you just have to do it....

  5. Yikes!

Did your dr not inform you of the possibility of complications and the seriousness of the surgery?

Also' date=' throwing up is not a normal issue with the sleeve. Unless it was because of your complications it's usually self inflicted from your eating style.

Hopefully, you're all better and over this difficult time of your journey. God bless and good luck.[/quote']

My doctors skimmed over the complications FOR SURE! When I asked more specific questions, they basically said that I was young and healthy and should do fine. I thankfully did, but spent the first few weeks in complete terror after reading about severe complications on here.

  6. My kids are really young, and I don't want to make them obsessive about their weight and food. I am just feeding them healthy food and modeling exercise for now. When they are older I will share it with them. They are also boys (11,7,5, and 3). My two oldest would CONSTANTLY worry about me.

  7. I wonder if you can call overeaters anonymous in your area to see if they are a good fit (for the purging)? Thats a free support group.

Please know that 900 calories is NOT a lot! I know you have a few people that run around here touting that they only eat 600 a day but that's just not realistic for MOST of us! You need to let go of that guilt.

Your weight loss sounds great by the way..

My whole six months has been a stall it seems but it does come off a pound here and a pound there... It's just the way it works for some if us.

This advice helps me a lot and I hope it helps the OP. 600 calories doesn't work for me either!

  8. My doc and nutritionist both said carbs don't matter' date=' only total Protein and total calories, but a 5 week stall leads me to think otherwise, at least for me. I think carbs do matter and lowering them just a little in exchange for fats has moved me back into the weight loss column also.[/quote']

How many calories and how much protein were you instructed to have?

  9. An example of the business aspect...

American's insatiable thirst for fast fixes and fast food has bred a multi-billion dollar weight loss industry. Fad diets' date=' weight loss supplements, DVDs, and diet pills were only the beginning. Now, people are opting for elective surgery to lose weight fast. In recent years, ads for the "Lap Band" have sprung up all over the place, promising instant weight loss with zero work. The Lap Band procedure(advertised through 1-800-GET-THIN) is actually a serious surgical operation in which a ring is implanted inside the patient's gut to discourage eating. But while the company's ads show their selective clientele jumping for joy after having lost hundreds of pounds, Congress is not as thrilled. On Tues January 24, Rep. Henry Waxman and 2 other house members sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee urging that Congress investigate 1-800-GET-THIN and Allergan Inc., the manufacturer of the Lap Band.

    YES.....YES......YES!!!!

  10. Hehe.. I'm 47 in a couple of weeks so I guess that would make me a LOT older! :P

But your right I had nothing to lose at this point' date='

I was morbidly obese and had high blood pressure meds..

I think that doctors should be more up front about the realities of this surgery...

But I wonder if its because they will say anything for the buck or that they really don't have first hand knowledge of it.. I mean unless they've gone through the procedure and life after what do they really know about the emotional side and living in an altered body?

    [/quote']

I TOTALLY agree about the doctors!!! It's crazy! There were questions that I asked specifically and I feel like they were a bit misleading in that informational meeting! It's more like an informercial, smh.

  11. The problem is that different doctors say different things. People also have different hormonal reactions after surgery that no one talks about. Doctors do say that you will not feel ANY hunger, and "research" can leave you more confused than before. Also, some docs let people have puréed or soft foods on day 1!

Just because you did research and don't regret the surgery does not mean that those that regret it are just stupid or didn't read into it. I don't know how I feel about the surgery 7 weeks out. Some of the things the doctor told me just weren't true. I'm doing exactly what she said and haven't lost weight at the rate she promised. I did not have any co-morbidities, so sometimes I wonder if I could have done the same on my own. I also have small children, and the lack of energy makes me feel like a bad mom.

And yes, I did TONS of research. I've worked as a researcher, and I'm about to start my counseling internship, so all I DO is research. But it's almost like marriage, you don't know what it's really like until you're in it. You can't research how it will "feel". And some of you are a LOT older. Facing 30-40 more years or life with a reduced stomach, and having been unhealthy for SO long might feel different from facing 70 years with a reduced stomach after 5-15 years of being an overweight adult.
